Happy 90th Birthday, Marilyn Monroe!
We will never know what Marilyn Monroe would have looked like at 90, or even 40, since she died at age 36 of suicide, (although conspiracy theories abound that Ms. Monroe was killed.)
Forensic anthropology has completed age progression on Ms. Monroe, to age 75. To me, she still looks like herself, just older.
Ms. Monroe was a product of her times, and, while people still adore her in a cult-like way, she suffered for her fame. Playing the dumb blonde, over and over again, very likely contributed to her mental problems. Her notorious affairs with President Kennedy and his brother, Robert Kennedy, insured that powerful men used her, without regard to her feelings.
Whatever you think of Marilyn Monroe, perhaps her best epitaph comes from her ex-husband, Joe DiMaggio, who said on his deathbed, "At least I'll get to be with Marilyn."
Happy birthday, Ms. Monroe! I wish that you could have found happiness!

Marilyn Monroe, her final days:
I remember her death very well, and remember, as a kid, being sad that such a beautiful woman was gone. She was a very dear lady, in many ways, who never found her happiness. How sad!
This is a bit long, as it is a history channel show... You can scan through and get the gist...
She was ''one of a kind''....I wish that she would have found some happiness in her life.
I feel the exact same way... I feel such sorrow and pity for her!
Truly, a 1950s version of an extravaganza!
I don't believe she was as dumb as she was made out to be, and she did not have to be drawn into clandestine affairs unless it was something she herself wanted. She was not a puppet with the strings available to whomsoever wanted to pull them. IMO she was very talented and if taking advantage of her reputation as a dumb blonde was a benefit she didn't discourage anyone from believing it.
I think she was very intelligent! I think that men used her to their advantage, and as Rita Hayworth said, "Men go to bed with Mame, but wake up with me..." I think she was the candle in the wind, a very fragile person. Perhaps she was manipulative, but, then, so are a LOT of people. Not that she was perfect, in any way, but she probably had to manipulate men in order to get what she wanted and needed. Some people are an empty hole that no one else can fill...
That makes me sad for her. I truly think she was a product of her times...
Dowser, this article made me think about her - I had recently watched (yet again) Some Like it Hot , considered to be one of the greatest comedies ever produced. I have posted a very comprehensive article about her life on the Classic Cinema group, including a video outlining her life. Hopefully you don't mind my posting the link to it here:
I agree that Some Like it Hot was a great comedy . But in terms of acting I was quite impressed with Marilyn's performance in The Misfits .
I thought she was a pretty good actress! She had a delicacy to her expressions, that conveyed a great deal!
Certainly better than I could-- Old Wooden Face!
I thought her words overpowered her acting much of the time . I seem to recall she said she was "blonde all over" ...
EEK! I'm NOT going to ask what that means... Nor do I believe it, seeing how, as a young woman, her hair was naturally brown.
Feel free! I've already visited and enjoyed the links! Thanks!
