PA Prime Minister Vows to Up Payments to Terrorists Families
'Moderate' Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah says PA will increase support for terrorism, hails killers as 'heroes.'
Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah has vowed to increase benefits for the families of terrorists killed while carrying out deadly attacks against Israelis.
Speaking at an iftar meal to break the Ramadan fast on Friday in Ramallah, Hamdallah said the PA and its institutions would continue providing a wide range of benefits - including financial rewards - to terrorists' families, and would work to up its support for them.
Hamdallah - who is regularly touted as a moderate in the West - went on the praise "all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the struggle," and praised those terrorists imprisoned in Israeli jails for attacks, including deadly attacks on innocent civilians, as "heroes."
Among the benefits the PA already provides are monthly salaries paid to terrorists serving time for attacks in Israeli prisons. Imprisoned terrorists receive a hefty salary, calculated based on the length of their sentence - and hence the seriousness of their offense.
The use of foreign aid to pay terrorists has recently come under increased scrutiny in Europe, and particularly the UK .

The conflict will not end until the Palestinian leadership stops inciting and incentivizing violence against Israel.
Yup, that would help.
One would think people would want something more from life than endless confrontation, death and destruction. Won't happen when their 'government' rewards them for this kind of thing.
It's one thing to say that leaders are inciting their population. When they begin incentivizing their citizens to acts of terror, there is a clear change in their policy, and a need for Israel to change theirs.
One canard that the haters often use is the alleged Israeli practice of "collective punishment". This alleges that, because of a few bad actors, the entire Palestinian population suffers. When the government openly offers reward for terrorism, it is doing so for the entire population, and thus, Israel must deal with them in the manner that they have. No excuses are necessary. Change in the Palestinian leadership is the necessary change in this equation.
The US should not be sending the Palestinians any money when it's being used to reward terrorists.
The PA is a freak show, yet we and the rest of the international community still directly and indirectly fund them.
The article speaks of "humanitarian" aid sent by the UK and the EU, but if I am not mistaken the US also sends the Palestinians financial aid. What that means is that your tax dollars encourage and support terrorism. However, most of the complaints I have seen are about the military aid that is provided to Israel used to defend its citizens from that very terrorism. It's an interesting conundrum.

I haven't looked a the numbers lately, but I believe the U.S. sends more aid to them than any Arab country. (Just recently I believe Qatar send them some aid-- which is quite a change).
Here's an interesting fact: For years the Palestinians received more aid per capita than any country in the world! Yup-- significantly more than the aid sent to, for example, all those African countries, the ones where you see photos of starving kids that are so gaunt that their bones show....

Long overdue. Not enough-- but its a step in the right direction.
(BTW one thing that is helpful in understanding the situation: the so-called "aid" is really not so much aid as it is a "bribe". A futile attempt to try to make them more "moderat"--although of course it doesn't work).
