I'm Not Sure as to the Reason(s), but this One is Different

I have taken literally hundreds of photos of White-tailed (Virginia) Deer; this one was taken on a misty afternoon this past weekend. For some reason, when I look at it … no matter how many times … it seems like it was taken in a fantasy world.

Does anyone else get that sense, or, is it just me? I find it difficult to be objective about my own photos.

I like the image … but it intrigues me despite the fact that I took it myself.

Actually, I went to this part of the woods hoping to photograph a Black Bear … next time maybe.

Perhaps it is the tangled branches and the freshness and abundance of greenery that is reminiscent of fairy tales and fables, which promotes the identification of fantasy. The deer is YOU, wandering through this fantasyland.

See Buzz nailed it right on the head.

I would have to agree with him. The whole composition makes it feel like it came straight out of fairytale

I think is certainly could be a fantasy world!  It's beautiful, and such a sense of peace!!!  I could see it as being the backdrop for Lord of the Rings or something...

Say, have you heard of the new book, " Being a Beast "?  It's about a man who wanted to learn what badgers and deer, et. al, thought, so he lived with them and lived like them.  I'm assuming he ate normal food.  I doubt he could digest Sumac like the deer do...  But anyway, I'm going to order it and see what he says about the deer.  I would like to know if my own observations are reasonable, or if I'm so hopelessly anthropomorphic that I have no idea what I'm talking about.  However, everything Taliwag did, I have seen deer do, with my own two eyes-- but my only witness has been dead since 1985...  Oh well.  Maybe they picked up some of our traits.  (Like carrying the fawns on their back across the Kentucky Lake...)

I have written myself into a corner and need to go back and write my way out of it...  Sigh!  As much as I want to continue the story, I can't seem to get much done these days...

Thank you for the beautiful picture!  It is a place I would love to be!

This reminds me of one of my favorite prints in my home, A. Mac.  Painted by "Tom" Sawyer.  It is a deer next to a stream in the mist, next to a tree...  Everything seems to fade away in the mist.  I tried to look him up, but of course, I can't remember his real name, nor find a picture of my print...  All I could find are pictures that are portraits of Tom Sawyer.  Mark Twain would be proud, but that's not exactly what I want.  Shoot, we even have a state park dedicated to him, just about 3 miles from my house, and I can't remember the name...  Senior Moment!

It looks more like a natural happenstance.

Perhaps A Mac your sense of the Sacred is acknowledged in your experience with this moment. It is beautiful and ethereal ; heaven on earth for that deer, and those leaves, and the mist with the sun shimmering over it, and you...
