Mainstream Christian Teaching Is on Verge of Being Labeled Hate Speech
"If you think about it, we are at the water's edge of the argument that mainstream Christian teaching is hate speech," Rubio told CBN News. "Because today, we've reached the point in our society where if you do not support same-sex marriage you are labeled a homophobe and a hater.""So what's the next step after that?" Brody asked."After they are done going after individuals, the next step is to argue that the teachings of mainstream Christianity, the catechism of the Catholic Church is hate speech and there's a real and present danger," he warned.I disagree with Senator Rubio on one point: We are not at the water's edge. We are waist-deep. And there's a tidal wave of anti-Christian bigotry on the horizon. http://nation.foxnews.com/2015/05/27/todd-starnes-rubio-mainstream-christian-teaching-verge-being-labeled-hate-speech
Organized religion has never been the thing for me and neither has any other organization such as that which would be derived from Atheism.
In saying that, I know there is a concerted effort to demonize Christianity. It's evident when in our universities it appears many professors just can't seem to leave Christians alone. I believe we should teach science and understand there are things science just can not explain. If there is any proselytizing going on in our society, it is the proselytizing of Atheism.
I don't claim to be a Christian. I believe I am not all there is. It is true, I am not an authority on either subject by a long shot.
Not that such a thing would happen here but, as the Westboro Baptist Church has abundantly shown and the United States Supreme Court has recently affirmed, it wouldn't really matter if the general population ever did come to thinkthat all religious doctrines asoffensive speech, they will still be able to carry on in America however any church demes fit.
The push back from somecomes not because of Christian tenets, (or any other religions), unlessareligious groupis tryingto enshrine suchbeliefsinto the nations laws.
Can you tell I'm stillscarred by the blue laws of my youth.
I'm curious as to what you consider to be "mainstream".
Thanks for the clarification!
