I would like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who felt it was important to spend your time posting and commenting on promoting and disparaging your religions. You have most likely succeeded in chasing away members who were disgusted with your nonsensical abuse of free speech and "Speak Your Mind", besides discouraging potential members who after seeing the front page may well have decided that even Newsvine might be a better place. In particular, you have at the very least benefitted the groups, because I am sure many members, if not before, have now decided to spend their time there.
Congratulations. Stand for "Speak Your Mind" and support free speech, but what is missing in your case is....common sense.

The only limit I seek is "reasonableness" (somethng to do with common sense). That was surpassed recently.
Did I shit on Chritianity, or Catholicism, or Buddhism, or Judaism, or Hinduism, or Islam, or even Atheism? I criticized the overkill. I said "REASONABLENESS, COMMON SENSE". I didn't say NOT to post or comment - but I sure as hell don't appreciate proselytizing.

Well then, just to confuse you, I am for gun control, pro-choice, yet support Israel and am disgusted with the present US government's foreign affairs. I originally thought Obama was a godsend, but now I think he has fucked everything up. I support Harper and the Conservative government in Canada and believe it is honourable in its unyielding support of Israel, but despair about Canada's treatment of its Native Indians.
So what does that make me? Left Wing? Right Wing? or a person who is capable of independant thinking - independant of being "classified".
And that is the big lie Bob, no one is banning anything that shouldn't be banned or already is banned.
The only difference is, now it is something the hard core conservatives have their panties in a bunch about rather than the hard core liberals.
Guess what, your protestations and complaints sound a whole lot like theirs.
Also guess what, the site is getting along just fine without hearing your a racist, Teabagger or any of the other pointed insults they would throw around, and the site will be just fine without the religious crap from the other side.
AS far as compromise, I do not compromise on what I strongly believe. and I strongly believe that this site does not need the absolutes from either side.
And you will find that the majority, agree with my take.
Personally I think both sides should lose the panties, then they will have nothing to get into a bunch anymore.

A simple removal of the article would have be the thing to do in my opinion and a message to the seeder, "don't be proselytizing, we're not a church".

I know Perrie has evidently been overwhelmed with complaints and she has my sympathy for having to deal with it, but what else can I say? I think I've said enough.
He never got a warning, at least not one anyone would recognize as such, and it was never reported so it could be fixed.
So it is not XX's fault and the article was just fine as it stood except for the poor choice of tag.
there was the other article which was bad as far as being on the front page which really set everything off, and would have been fine if he had put it in his own private group which wouldn't have hit the front page and could have been linked as long as the content didn't hit the front page.
I mean a little bit of thinking would have helped here.
I don't have a problem with either posting, but the choices on where to post is a site issue and others took it as a reason to hammer Perrie.
It goes downhill from there. It wasn't all liberals that hit Perrie over it and nobody was looking to ban anyone.
So a minor tweak to the CoC and it's dealt with. there is nothing being banned in any way.
Except in the fantasies of those who think in absolutes...
