The president criticized NATO allies directly during speech

(Newser) – President Trump chided NATO leaders to their faces Thursday for "chronic underpayments" to the organization, the New York Times reports. "Members of the alliance must finally contribute their fair share and meet their financial obligations," CNN quotes Trump as saying during the opening of a new NATO headquarters. Per the BBC , Trump said other NATO countries owe "massive amounts of money," and that's "not fair to the people and taxpayers of the United States." Only five of 28 NATO members are putting the agreed-upon 2% of their GDP toward defense spending. Trump also didn't recommit the US to NATO's mutual defense pledge, which leaves other NATO countries to wonder if the US will automatically assist them if they're attacked.

NATO leaders didn't appear pleased by Trump's speech, and the Times reports the US president got a "chilly reception" from European leaders. Trump reportedly disagreed with his European counterparts on climate, trade, and Russia. Cameras also caught Trump apparently shoving a NATO leader out of the way so he could get to the front of the stage, according to Mediaite . That Trump wasn't more warmly welcomed wasn't exactly a surprise: The speech took place in Brussels, a city Trump once called a "hellhole" following a terrorist attack. And he gave the speech in front of a new 9/11 memorial. The Sept. 11 attacks were the only time NATO has invoked the mutual defense provision—backing the US in Afghanistan—that Trump declined to state his support for.

No one really gives a fuck about European leaders right now. They are allowing the rape and pillage of their people by the religiously extreme from the Sand dunes.

Pay your fair share for Nato weasels.

And once again, just like when he visited Germany earlier this year, someone from the traveling White House will have to stay behind and explain to our NATO allies that Trump is a child who still does not understand how NATO works. That each nation has pledged to up to 2% of each of it's own GDP spending on defense in it's own nation to by 2024 (not 2017) and that none of them owe "massive amounts of money," to anyone else. For some reason Trump seems to be stuck on stupid as it was explained to him (I hope) when he accused Germany of owing "massive amounts of money" to the U.S. earlier this year, that NATO does not operate that way. That there is not a NATO Central Bank that every country deposits money in and that NATO defenses are then paid out of and that all of these are NATO countries are behind on their payments. That when these other NATO countries bring their defense spending up to 2% of their GDP it will be on their own defense spending and that they are all currently working toward that goal. That NATO is not, as much as he thinks it is, some sort of "Mafia protection racket".

I hope he also understands that when he chose not to mention Article 5 of the NATO Treaty, that an attack on one nation in NATO is an attack on all nations, (while he was telling all of our NATO allies that they were not carrying their weight) that he was standing right in front of a twisted piece of steel from one of The World Trade Center Towers and that every single nation that was a part of NATO on that day sent troops to help out in our invasion of Afghanistan and that he therefore looked and sounded like an embarrassing asshole! As usual!
