Charles Krauthammer Destroys Donald Trump Jr’s Defense Of Russia Meeting

“It’s a hell of a defense to say your collusion might be incompetent.”

Donald Trump Jr. has defended his meeting with a Kremlin-linked lawyer by saying that he didn’t get anything out of it, but Fox News commentator Charles Krauthammer isn’t buying it.

“It’s a hell of a defense to say your collusion might be incompetent,” he told Fox News’ Martha MacCallum.

“If you get a call to go to a certain place in the middle of the night to pick up stolen goods and it turns out the stolen goods don’t show up but the cops show up,” he added. “I think you’re going to have a very weak story saying, ‘Well, I got swindled here.’”

Trump, the eldest son of President Donald Trump, admitted on Tuesday that he met with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya on the pretense that he’d be receiving damning information about Hillary Clinton. Rob Goldstone, a music publicist who set up the meeting, told Don Jr. in an email that the meeting was part of Russia’s attempts to help his father win the election.

“I love it,” Don Jr. told Goldstone in emails he posted to Twitter  late Tuesday morning.  He later told Fox News host Sean Hannity that the meeting was “such a nothing” because Veselnitskaya didn’t end up disclosing anything useful.

Others in the Trump inner circle have used the same defense.

“It was a nothing meeting,” the president’s chief of staff, Reince Priebus, said on Sunday.

Don Jr. also defended the meeting as typical “opposition research.” But Krauthammer, who has in the past dismissed  claims that the Trumps colluded with Russia, called that excuse “weak.”

“This is not just opposition, this is not someone coming out of the woodwork in Indiana with a story about the Clintons. This is a foreign power, and not just any foreign power, an adversary foreign power.”

You  simply can't spin this one. The words in the e mails are the story and they are quite clear.

He forgot that the Trumps interest is not the national interest.

I blame it on him, like his father before, being raised to believe that the laws and rules that apply to normal people, the "little people", simply do not apply to a Trump. He just didn't consider that possibility. It never even occurred to him. The Trumps are on a different plane of reality, sort of like royalty and are therefore untouchable. Guess what? Both he and certainly his dad, are about to get "touched".

NBC news is announcing breaking news that there was another person, a 5th person, in the room with the meeting between the Russian lawyer, Kushner, Manafort and Donald Trump Jr. It turns out that there was a former Soviet Intelligence Officer (they are not naming him yet) attending the meeting also, even thought since the meeting was revealed Trump Jr. has "forgotten" to mention he was there. Even when he was on the Hannity Show on Wednesday evening, Sean Hannity specifically asked him if there was anything else about the meeting that he hadn't revealed and he said no. That was the whole story. Sean even asked him if he had ever met anyone else from Russia and he said "Well not in a formal meeting." He was lying as he never mentioned the Former Soviet Intelligence agent who was there. I guess he just forgot. The former Intelligence Officer is saying the he is just a lobbyist now, is denying any ties to Soviet Intelligence and is headed back to Russia in a hurry.

This calls a few things into question. First of all was what he says was said in the room really what they talked about or is he lying about the subject matter of the meeting also? Also, is this yet another person that Kushner will again have to revise his Security Clearance Application Form AGAIN?

Still the reality is Donald Trump Jr. has lied about this meeting yet again. His credibility has gone up in smoke. It no longer exists.
