Just a thought on my part … I am not sure if it's well-illustrated.
They are called "Mourning" Doves because of their call … a rather soft, melancholy sound.
They also are considered to mourn for their lost mates - they mate for life and do not seek a replacement.
However, after a few drinks, they have been known to mess around a little bit.
You really have to stop filling your birdbath with gin, A.Mac. The SPCA could come and get you.
Wonderful picture. She (I assume) looks very peaceful.
The dove is sitting out the craziness overtaking America...Good choice
....and I get blamed for commenting about it.
So far, not many NT members DOVE into this article …
My great-great grandmother, the Cherokee, called them rain crows... Their sound is sad, but also comforting...
