Used to do that at a YMCA camp that I worked at in the boundary waters canoe area, we'd sit in the sauna and get good and steamy, then go jump in the lake, through a hole we had cut in the ice.
As I recall, it was strange because you'd jump in, and it would shock you, and you'd get out, and even though it was about -5 f out, you'd feel warm as toast and you were just in your swim trunks, lol!
But then again, I did all kinds of stupid shit when I was a kid.
I used to do a similar thing at my cousin's house in Vermont. We'd sit in the Sauna then run outside and jump in the snowbanks and have snowball fights then run back in to the Sauna to warm up and do it again.
Wasn't sure whether to seed this under "Science" or "The Lighter Side"...?
WHO LET THE SECRET OUT???
Heh

I never had the guts to do that. You were either really brave or stupid. (no insult intended)

So did I but it always seemed like a good idea beforehand. Danger is my middle name but my Dad always called me dumbass.
