Movies to See in May!
We haven't been to the movies in a while-- the last one we saw was Sniper , and it was worth the price of the ticket, and the exorbitant prices for popcorn and a coke! Not all of the movies listed below are something I want to see-- but they surely offer a variety of entertainment!
Spy -- Melissa McCarthy works at the CIA in a desk job, until she volunteers to go under deep cover to infiltrate the world of an arms dealer, (played by Rose Byrne). Jude Law and Jason Statham also star in this exhilarating comedic action thriller.
Good Kill -- A Top Gun thriller for the 21st century, Ethan Hawke plays a fighter pilot who fights the Taliban from a steel container deep in the Nevada desert. As a drone pilot, Hawke has been praised for his capture of the pent-up frustration, self-disgust, and mounting aggression, and highlights the psychological toll of long-distance warfare on the pilots.
Far From The Madding Crowd -- Carey Mulligan stars as Bathsheba Everdene, while Michael Sheen, Tom Sturridge, and Matthias Schoenaerts star as her suitors. While some of us can remember the original 1967 movie starring Julie Christie, Mulligan has drawn praise for her impeccable timing and intense, compelling performance.
Tomorrowland -- George Clooney and Hugh Laurie star as childhood friends whose lives have taken radically different tracks. Clooney plays an inventor trying to out the evil boss of Tomorrowland. The movie grew from a conversation Clooney had with the writer, wondering what ever happened to our optimism of the future? Released by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
Mad Max, Fury Road -- The Road Warrior is back in this update of the original Mad Max. Tom Hardy takes the lead opposite Charlize Theron, fighting to survive the post apocalyptic world in Australia. While the movie has a familiar feel, Tom Hardy makes it his own.
Thanks for coming by!

These look pretty good, all in all... I think my husband and I would enjoy at least a couple of them!
I still prefer the classics.
Trying to find a theater that is running the film, "Mr. Turner" (one of my favorite painters).
Yeah, me too! But my husband likes to see the new shoot 'em up, bang bangs...
Hmmmm, I don't know that one! Is it a good movie?
Surely, some place in Philadelphia would have that movie!
It's only being shown in theaters that run "art" films and even in Philly, those are few and far between. Maybe on Pay Per View/On Demand one of these days.
That's a shame-- we only have one or two theaters like that... I hope you can find it!
Interesting list Dowser. Not much of a movie goer, but Netflix is my thing.
WOW! I can't remember the last time I went to the movie theater!! I love watching good movies, but it got to the point that the price of going got to be outrageous!!
The price of the tickets..and if you wanted something to eat or drink was ridiculous.
When we went to the movies on a regular basis, it was a fun night out!!
Hang On Mac, it's coming to a Classic Cinema near you brother...
Nothing will replace the original Road Warrior...
NOTHING
Well, these will be on Netflix soon! I hope!
It's gotten so cost prohibitive...
We hadn't gone to the show for a couple of years, then sniper came out! The rest, we usually rent on my kindle fire, or Amazon stick...
I agree-- I'm sure this is a bit over done. The original Mad Max was scary! (I thought...)
It's like the original Stepford Wives. Mind control is 10X more scary than robots!
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it! We do the same thing... But once ever 2 years or so, we go to the movies for an expensive night out!
This looks like another good movie to see!
Woman in Gold -- Helen Mirren stars as an older Jewish refugee who takes on the Austrian government to return artwork to her after WWII. Ryan Reynolds also stars!
