Civil … and Snow-covered

It's a scene in a park in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania … and in walking distance from my house!

In my city, it's not all busy streets … and despite what some might believe about a major city … much of Philly is civil … as long as YOU are.

Blue sky, puffy white clouds, pure white snow blanketing the ground and creek running by and starting to ice-up - a silent wilderness in the city. Almost too much to wish for.

Beatiful, Amac.

What part of Philly is this? I have an aunt (she married my uncle) who lived in a very lovely part of Philly and lived right across the street from a wooded area that had a creek (crick) running thru it. My brother and I would go play in that crick and try and catch cray fish

I'm glad I grew up in PA where there were so many cricks to play in. When I was between 3 and 10 we lived in Nottingham, PA in a little valley not far from the Octarara. We had a crick that ran close to the house and after it rained was the best time to play in it. When we lived in Tioga County, we dammed the crick under a waterfall. We dammed it so well that the crick ran dry down where we brought the cows in for milking. Dad couldn't figure out why the crick was running dry so he started walking up the crick and found our dam. He destroyed it but was impressed by our dam making skills. Told us we could put the beavers to shame

Route 6 bisects Route 15 which is the heart of Mansfield. We had a dairy farm about 4-5 miles outside of town. I went to 5th - 7th grade there. It was a good school considering it was rural. The college there helped a lot

Correct. Not 4 … 2 houses (and blessed to have had such careers and investments/pension/SS … to have those); I tossed in Jim Thorpe, etc. to give an idea of where my small house in the Poconos is located … for the record … a house here in Philly (lived here my whole life), and the little one in the Poconos.

Right near 903 in Albrightsville … and wher the Lehigh River is accessible in the Gorge, the Smallmouth fishing at times, is just great

Been swimming in Beltzville , that we overlook from Penns Peak

Beltzville can be a dangerous lake when the idiots with the big boat engines are at the speed limit (or higher) … I have a spot where I will fly fish Beltsville … with a light outfit, I'm looking at the backing on my reel if I hook a Musky or Big Striper!

and like the Jonas Hotel on the other side

Jonas Creek is hard to access … but the Wild Brook Trout population saved it from commercial zoning some years back; thank God some life on earth is still sacred!

Carbon County, is that where Elk mtn is, as I have a buddy who owns a bar near there The Candlelight Inn, he and another buddy used to own The Beacon Inn

Don't think so … Elk County maybe.

No … thankful as hell to have two with no mortgages.

yes, people don't realize some of the beautiful streams and parks that weave through Philadelphia.

back to Pocono's , are you near 541 or closer to 209

Some property owners run cables across the stream and hang "no trespassing" signs on them, and, unless the water is legally designated as a "Navigable River," the bastards get away with it!

God makes the stream and the property owners call the tune.

To be fair, litterbugs and other jerks more-or-less give property owners a valid rationale.

Eagles fans will be silent while the Eagles offense lines up at scrimmage … and create deafening roars when the Vikings are on offense.

Otherwise, it should be a nail-biter.
