President Donald Trump has reportedly taken to calling Attorney General Jeff Sessions Mr. Magoo, causing the classic bumbling cartoon character’s name to trend on Twitter late Wednesday. (Link)
The symbolism of having America’s first black president eulogizing Byrd, a onetime member of the Ku Klux Klan, was lost on no one. Clinton was the only speaker to mention Byrd’s early KKK affiliation directly. Obama alluded to it.
“We know there are things he said and things he did that he came to regret,” Obama said. “I remember talking about that the first time I visited with him. He said: ‘There are things I regretted in my youth; you may – you may know that.’ And I said: None of us are absent some regrets, Senator. That's why we enjoy and seek the grace of God.”
“And as I reflect on the full sweep of his 92 years, it seems to me that his life bent towards justice,” Obama said. “Like the Constitution he tucked in his pocket, like our nation itself, Robert Byrd possessed that quintessential American quality, and that is a capacity to change, a capacity to learn, a capacity to listen, a capacity to be made more perfect.”
But far more important to the memory of Byrd is his legacy as a senator and a devoted West Virginian.
Birds of a feather. Except one of them has more feathers missing than the other.
Mr. Magoo? Whatever. Do the gun thing one minute and play with steel and aluminum the next minute. T&A Ivanka still roaming around with the bounciest of walks.
I'm so glad the left is here to fetch little things like this. It's kind of like when your dog or cat leaves you a little surprise it caught and killed. I guess nothing else important is going on.
I wonder how Sessions is even able to look at himself in a mirror. I wouldn't be able to have any sense of pride if I were to work for a man that regularly and publicly humiliates and insults me. I would have told Trump to go fuck himself the first time he did that kind of thing, if he wants to fire me fine, but I would absolutely not put up with that.
This should come as no surprise, as Jeff Sessions is an unabashed Liberal, while Trump upholds true Conservative values!
Orwell's ghost must be laughing its ass off at these scumbags.
Liberal Ku Kluxer?
You're thinking of Robert Byrd.
You must mean the Dishonorable Robert 'Sheets' Byrd?
He abandon and denounced the KKK. Something today's republican rightwingers might want to consider instead of backing them up.
All that proves is that Democrats are willing to sell out their values and look the other way anytime someone had a (D) after their name.
The KKK couldn't have done as much to destroy the black family as the Dems have done over the past fifty years if they had tried.

It looks more like galumphing to me. Where'd she pick that up?
Jared
I'm pretty sure every comedian in American has made that observation by now.
"Classic bumbling character"
Which one is the author referring too-- Magoo-- or Trump?
I heard that Mr. Magoo is suing for defamation of character.
Mr Magoo? I thought he was the Keebler Elf?
Some dispensaries in my state have a new strain out named Jeff Sessions. 3 hits and you're as f'n stupid as he is.
I don't need that weed
Charlie Brown, anyone?
Gross!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Trump is normalizing playing the fool.
Did Calvin Coolidge ever call his attorney general names in public?
Isn't he wearing the same shade of lipstick as Ivanka?

Kind suspicious it's nowhere else on the news. If true, it's probably an inside joke between them.
