Ohio Republicans Propose Bill to Punish Abortion Doctors with the Death Penalty

Source

Conservatives in Ohio are so “pro-life,” they want abortion doctors to face the death penalty.

At least, that’s the logical consequence of House Bill 565, proposed by Ohio Republican State Reps. Ron Hood and Nino Vitale. It wouldn’t just ban abortions in the state; doctors who perform them could be charged with murder or sued “for the wrongful death of the woman’s unborn child.”

Someone guilty of murder in Ohio can be executed for the crime.

Opponents of the bill fear it could charge doctors with murder, punishable by life in prison or the death penalty.

“Anti-choice extremists from the Ohio Statehouse to the White House are lining up their dominoes to topple Roe v. Wade and punish those who seek or provide abortion care,” said Kellie Copeland, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio, in a statement.

If there’s anything to be hopeful about, it’s that Gov. John Kasich previously vetoed an anti-abortion bill that prohibited the procedure after the fetus has a heartbeat because he felt it wasn’t going to survive a legal challenge. HB 565 is far more extreme and even more likely to be vetoed if it makes it to Kasich’s desk.

But we can still be in shock over how these Republicans — and their 18 co-sponsors — would rather kill doctors who are helping women… in order to save some unborn cells. Good luck trying to make sense of the #ChristianLogic that lets people celebrate the “sanctity of life” while creating a path to execute doctors.

There is no hypocrisy too monstrous for these scumbags to embrace.  I see they aren't including anti-choice republican congressmen who try force their mistresses to get abortions.

It's unbelievable that such a bill is being proposed. Talk about draconian views or laws. They want to execute someone for performing a medical procedure, but at the same time, they're "pro-life?" Hypocrisy indeed.

Here's another blatantly unconstitutional and pointless law, this one brought to you by the bible-babblers in Arkansas:

Religious conservatives are only pro-life until the start of the 4th trimester. The proper term for these religious hypocrites is forced birth.

Ohio is a political and econmic clusterpuck under Kasich and the truth is coming out about his failed ideas so the GOP needs some issue to keep conservatives riled up and make them go to the polls.  Abortion is a reliable fallaback for the relgious hypocrites of the GOP.

Yesterday it was revaled that my TEAbag Congressman didnt report earning $50K as a lobbyist.

Who next?  Will it be women on birth control for blocking the eggs from the sperm?  Will it be men who waste the sperm when they jerk off?

Please explain to me, because you all know I'm not an American, why is it not considered hypocrisy when those who want to ban abortion support the death penalty.  Am I missing something here?

Better yet why is it that there are those that want to spare the lives of those guilty of the most heinous crimes by doing away with the death penalty but have no problem taking the life of an innocent in the womb just because it is an inconvenience.

Kind of a mirror image, is it not?

To continue, why is it that educational institutions and their students, who consider themselves "liberal", ban or shout down guest lecturers whose opinions may differ from theirs?  Is there an unseen addendum to the First Amendment that says, "...but only if I agree with it."?

Better yet, why is it ANY of yours or a politicians business what healthcare choices a woman makes?  I always see these sanctimonious declarations of 'murdering babies', and you are welcome to believe that and live those beliefs.  I don't believe abortion is murder at all.  And I have spiritual beliefs to back that up.  Why should some asshole politician force their restrictions on all women?  How is that right in your book?

Don't you claim to be a Christian? Jesus didn't support the death penalty. I support life w/o parole instead of the death penalty.

But in Matthew (5:38-42) in the New Testament, Jesus repudiates even that notion. "Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek,

According to the Bible a fetus is not a person until it breathes air.

Genesis 2:7 is clearest. The first human became a “living being” (nefesh hayah, “a living breath”) when God blew into its nostrils and it started to breathe. Human life begins when you start breathing, biblical writers thought. It ends when you stop. That’s why the Hebrew word often translated “spirit” (ruah) — “life force” might be a better translation — literally means “wind” or “breath.”

Why does a godless atheist have to educate you about your own religious teachings?

They lives are a failure but they'll feel better about themselves if they can control the lives of others and look down on them.

LBJ understood the mindset of social conservatives and racism/bigotry.

President Lyndon B. Johnson once said, "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."

It is our body and our choice. Neither you or your Bronze-age bible makes my intimate medical decisions.  When men get pregnant I will give a damn about their views of abortion but until that is static.

Do I need to educate you on the finer points of our right to privacy from government intervention?

That still does no answer my question

1) Innocent people have been executed.

2.) The death penalty isn't an effective deterrent to crime.

3.) The death penalty appears to our basest instincts of revenge instead of punishment.

4.) How can we claim to support freedom and limited government if we permit the government to take a citizens life in revenge?

5.) If premeditated murder is wrong then it is hypocritical to allow the state to execute someone by a scheduled date.

Being an Ohioan we are used to this crap.  We've had so many tax cuts that our cities are now issuing maps to show where the pot holes are.

As far as the Ohio fetus worshippers, well yeah, we got them too.  We even still have Kasich who is being term limited out.  And DeWine, our Atty. General, who is now running for Governor, has made a name for himself by attacking Massage Parlors.

One thing about conservative gopers though, they sure like tax cuts and death penalties.  Gawd bless em'.  Or something like that.
