I like this one … (for the record, I don't always like my artwork … and trash way more than I save).

I like it... but the bear would be enough. The spiral background is overkill.

Funny, I was going to say that I really love the bear (he looks like a sketching), but that there was no need for the bird.

Will redo this one … but interesting thing … it has gotten immediate, positive attention on Twitter and FineArtAmerica.

You just never can tell.

To get blue sky as a background had to be a difficult angle. Great photo.

The bear was at a slightly elevated position from mine, so, good fortune on two counts … low angle and blue sky!

Great bear photo Mac....A bare bear is always on the cutting edge of something.

Posted two photos of Black Bears … there's story to go with them …

It started with this guy … a Red Fox with a recent catch.

I see him frequently on this gravel road at the edge of a forested area (left). In this photo, he spotted me, picked up his lunch and exited the road, going into the woods.

I followed him in hoping to photograph him with a mouthful … about 20-30 feet in, I looked up and saw THREE Black Bears … I photographed the closet to me until he looked up and saw me. Fortunately, my 10 frames per second Nikon D500 got the shots … before I slowly backed out … feeling fortunate and quite satisfied (as I looked at my camera's LCD).

Great wildlife photos. I think if I had seen the face of the third photo bear through my viewfinder I would have said "Oh oh" and then run like hell.

How tight can you zoom the black bear's face? I think the eyes would be fascinating...

Do you mean with the lens, or, with the original photo?

I mean in post-treatment, re-centering on the head. If the original photo is big enough, you can zoom quite a bit before losing too much detail.

This article is an ideal venue for my "bear" story, which I think A.Mac will not mind my posting here.

I think I was always afraid of bears (probably because I had not read "Winnie the Pooh" as a kid) until I came to China and was able to get up pretty close to Panda Bears, their appearance so cuddly and lovable.  However, there are stories of Chinese people who tried to hug those cuddly creatures and ended up in the hospital.  But I digress, so to the story.

Before my best friend and I bought our waterfront homes on Gull Lake in the Haliburton, Ontario, lake district, he rented a lakefront cottage that had no indoor toilet, only an outhouse a little back into the forest that surrounds that part of the lake. He invited me to stay one time, and in the middle of the night I had to use the outhouse.  While I was sitting in it doing my business I heard a deep growling sound nearby, and thought "Holy shit! There's a bear out there."  So I locked the door of the outhouse and sat there for at least an hour waiting for the growling to stop.  When it did I ran like hell back to the cottage, only to discover that what I had heard was my friend's snoring.
