'Can We Stop Being Such Jerks?': Ex-Clinton Staffer's Warning to Fellow Liberals

Former Clinton staffer Annafi Wahed joined "Fox & Friends" to discuss her recent op-ed in which she argues that her fellow liberals have become "arrogant" in political discourse.

Wahed wrote in the   Wall Street Journal   that liberals must "stop the ideological purity tests and admit there are more ways than one of solving a problem."

"Can we stop being such jerks?" she wrote, calling for some bipartisanship.

Wahed told Steve Doocy that she shopped her op-ed to more liberal publications like the New York Times and Washington Post but they declined to publish it. She said she was honored that the Journal, a corporate cousin of Fox News, accepted her submission.

"[Liberals] don't know how to engage constructively with ideas that are not their own," she told Doocy.

Wahed said liberals have been "incredibly arrogant" toward the 63 million people who voted for President Donald Trump, adding that most of those millions are not "sexist or xenophobic" or "duped" by propaganda.

Let's assume the pollsters are right this time, and Democrats win the majority in 2018. Then what? Follow Mr. Trump's example and undo everything from the last two years? What happens the next time Republicans regain control? Unless we hatch a plan to stay in power forever, we're going to need bipartisan support for our policies so they can survive the pendulum swings. How is that possible if the left refuses to engage with viewpoints from the right?

Can you imagine what will happen if they actually find a way to remove Trump???

been "incredibly arrogant" toward the 63 million people who voted for President Donald Trump

While i think arrogance and progressivism have gone hand in hand together since progressives wanted to dictate who was "fit" enough to reproduce, I think it really spilled over into our culture this century. Starting with the Daily Show, a fake news show in which combined a smarmy host who relied on every logical fallacy in the book to ridicule non progressive political positions and misleadingly edited bits were used to caricaturize  and ridicule normal Americans who dissented from progressive doctrine.  Liberals couldn't slobber over and worship Jon Stewart enough for his textbook propaganda campaign to otherize and dehumanize non progressive Americans, making it easy to hate and deplore them.

Trump was in many ways an understandable response to the arrogance and hatred that has characterized the Democratic Party and their creatures who control popular culture.

They might begin by ceasing to speak down or insult those that do not agree with them for starters. Alan Simpson pointed this out a few years ago during a Bill Maher interview, had they taken his advice at that time perhaps they may have saved themselves eight years of angst.

Once they have that in hand, they may want to actually put together some type of platform or another as they do not seem to have one at this particular moment (not being Mr. Trump is not a platform).

As I subscribe to neither parties lunacy it is an objective observation on my part.

Great comments. Even Nancy Pelosi, bless her heart, knows that "Impeach 45" (and similar) will not help the left regain control of any branch of federal government..

The 800 lb gorilla that is always in the room these days is the unpleasant truth that millions of Americans still support the travesty known as the Trump presidency. This is not a minor consideration, it is in many ways the heart of the matter. The "deplorables" are as much at fault for this abomination against our nation as Trump himself is.

They need to be confronted and made to comprehend the error of their ways. Otherwise we will be just waiting for the next Trump like creature to come along.

Yet progressives seem to be trying to ensure Trump's reelection.

Despite billions of dollars worth of media attacks and well over a year of progressives expressing  disgust at Trump and Trump voters, "his deserve to be reelected numbers" are where Clinton's and Obama's were at this point in their first terms.

Could the reasoning for that be that the left has continued throwing mindless accusations at the wall to see if they can find something to stick, that the rest of the country has turned tone death to them, because of them?  The continuous flow of venom from the left sounds like 'we are not pro-American, we're Anti-Trump'.  You have people here that will continuously make vulgar accusations of the first lady, of their child, Barron - and no one on the left ever seems to stop and say, 'Are we going too far?'.  This disgusts many millions of Americans, not only the people who voted for the President, but others in the middle ground......the moral 'look out for what you ask for, you just might get it' applies.  No one likes the anarchy the left has created and works hard to sustain, outside of the far left and their sock-puppets.

at some point, one must ask themselves a simple question.

  • if a person did not believe the lefts bs before the election. Why would they start believing the lefts bs after the election?

jiohn.. the reality is simple. as time goes on the stink of the bs becomes overwhelming and people move away from the source.   even your own people are starting to smell it and are moving away.

I wish nothing but the best of luck to those that feel they are qualified to show others the err of their ways - when H. was the candidate of the Democratic party in 2016!

Some of them , I am sure, hold out hope that his behavior will get "better" and he will be more accepted.

That will never happen , because Trump is a psychologically damaged individual and nothing is being done about that by his family or by himself.  Yesterday he spent a half hour ranting in a tv interview. There is no other leader of a great nation , on earth, that talks like that... and no leaders at all outside of possibly a few banana republics or dictatorships. What on earth makes these Trumpsters think that Americans should accept it?

That's an understatement.  Give him a talking point or a poll and he almost has an orgasm.

The future is bright again on literally all counts.

This is why it is useless to attempt dialogue with a Trumpster.  That anyone could say this with a straight face in this age is a sign that intelligent conversation with them is a nonstarter.

How much time did Trump spend degrading Obama for things like playing too much golf and having high staff turnover?  Now not only is he unprecedented in both areas, but he hasn’t even come close to filling all the critical government positions that he is responsible for.  The ones he has filled have largely been the exact same swamp dwellers that he vowed to eradicate from the federal government.  No decent lawyer will take him as a client because of what a moron he is, so he’s stuck with bottom feeders like Cohen, who got his ass owned by the FBI.  China is cozying up to Russia to marginalize our status among nations, while the whole world looks at Trump with the disgust he is suited for.

I could do this for hours, but I’m not going to, because that is clearly your side’s objective.  You’ve taken a page out of the scumbag lawyer playbook, but instead of burying the opposition in red tape and paperwork, you are routinely asking for detailed chronologies and comprehensive diatribes about the most prolific liar man has ever witnessed.  You know everything that we know, but you pretend that it needs to presented over and over and over in order to mount a meaningful offensive on your master.  No, it does not.  Get a new tactic because you’re just continuing to make yourselves look like idiots with what you are trying to do.

That's no way to win a railroad......

Odd, it worked for republicans.

I don't think its best to be jerks when facing the other side.  But I do understand having to meet people where they are.  That might seem jerky, but sometimes your message goes right over their heads if you don't speak their language.  I really don't think conservatives know what a jerk looks like given their love of all Trump behaviors, especially that part.

Until Senate Leader McConnell allows the bill to protect the Mueller investigation to proceed, don't even talk about bi-partisanship......It came out of committee with a 14 to 7 bi-partisan vote. We need a little practice what we're preaching.

bill to protect the Mueller investigation

Why do you need a bill to protect Mueller?  Something they are trying to hide?  Or is it that Mueller is Democrats LAST chance of hanging on to any power in Washington?  We already know his farce of an investigation into "Russiagate" has come up empty.

Or maybe let the investigation go where it may. If there is nothing there, Republican counsel Mueller  will certainly side with you.  If there is something there, the nation needs to know.

The reality is that this investigation has to be allowed to go to completion.

Oh, it's complete.  Has been complete for a while now.  The result:  No evidence.  Now it's a last ditch attempt for the Dems to give the appearance that they are relevant by going after Cohen with a hooker in tow.

'Can We Stop Being Such Jerks?'

I seriously doubt many people on either side can stop being such jerks to each other. Too many people seem too invest in the image of both political parties and ideologies. Like sports fans they are naturally bias and closed minded to the opposing side. Only this isn't a game its our country and we all suffer the results of this nations political one upmanship crap.

United we stood, devided we will fall, sooner or later, one way or another.

I'm glad to see educated Democrats like Annafi Wahed and those on "the Right" speak out against radicalism, because radicals in both parties selfishly want to destroy what unifies our constitutional republic so their agendas "win".

personally, I rather enjoy it.  you act like something has changed when it has been this way since the start.

where we go one we go all, some will be dragged forth against their will.

exactly... people who do not put our country, our production, our borders and our jobs first will not win.

believe it or not, it is a fight to the death if need be.

For sure politician who play the political game and put one upmanship and infighting ahead of We the people and the problems e this country faces are not doing this country any good.

IMO we did not hire these politicians to try to destroy each other we hire then to work together to solve the nations problems.

 Cheers :)

at the moment the problem we hired trump to solve is the politicians both left and right who have been screwing us over for decades.  they not only should be destroyed but they will be destroyed or forced to resign,

either way, they are done. socialism, communism, globalism, (all that leftwing crap) will not be tolerated. we will burn this country out from under them if required and build it again.

the only "ism we will accept is Americanism
