An Evening Walkabout With My Camera
An Evening Walkabout With My Camera
The evening was temperate, so my wife and I walked around the mall where our apartment is located. I wanted to buy some onion rings from a little kiosk that just opened - a small bag of them costs the equivalent of a buck. Even though it was pretty dark out, there was still lots of colour around.

7. Across the road, the huge new department store.
8. We live in the building in the background on the right.
9. The name of the whole development, our apartment and others, the mall and the huge new department store across the road.
Take a warm evening walk with me.
Thanks for sharing your part of the world, Buzz. I enjoyed seeing the open market.
Now I'm craving Onion Rings. I like the beer batter type, or the blooming onions. There's a Fish and Chip Place up the road from me that sells a big bag of Onion Rings for 2.25 but they're only open on Friday's.
Very enlightening Buzz.
Good pun.
No one tops Buzz for PHOTO ESSAYS with unique subject matter and presentation.
It's encouraging to get praise from the master.
Well are you going to share those onion rings or not!!!....
Great photos Buzz.
LOL. I DID share them - with my wife and her niece and young cousin who are staying with us a few days.
What you may have noticed from my photos is that the use of English is fairly common in the cities in China. For example, on airplanes, in airports and trains and train stations, and in the subways announcements are made in English as well as Chinese. Street signs are in both languages, and most middle-aged and younger people can speak at least a little English. Older people speak Russian as a second language, which was taught instead of English many years ago.
Sometimes I find the store signs somewhat amazing, for example:
My sentiments exactly, sometimes.
I would love to live in an area like that where I didn't have to travel by car to shop. Looks like fun.
What is also great is that we are within a very short walk of 3 incredibly landscaped and forested university campuses, a big reservoir surrounded by mountains and a beautifully landscaped gated community that we walk around. I've posted many photo-essays about them.
LMAO....Don't give a shit luggage and cap store....
A very pleasant promenade!
The juxtaposition of ultra-modern kiosks and open-market fruit stands is great fun!
By the way, Buzz … your avatar is outstanding!
It indicates a brotherhood of great significance.
Love the colors of the night! It is so lively there. Great photo essay Buzz.
