I've been saying a lot of what he has said for a long time, but maybe it will carry a little more weight among those who are consistently biased deniers of the truth when a MUSLIM ARAB based in the Middle East says the same thing. I have labeled it an op/ed because although it is a factual news item, the author does provide opinion as well.

Actually that does happen occasionally-- but the "politically correct media" usually doesn't report it...

But let us return to Abu Ghayyath. Where was Western sympathy or even attention while she was languishing in Hamas prison? Why was no one in the West interested in her story? Because she was not the victim of Israel. She was targeted only by her own people, by Hamas.

Exactly.

And its the same reason why the media is full of stories re: any injustice (real or imagined) suffered by the Palestinians when Israel is the alleged perp. But these pale in comparison to what has been happening in Syria-- for years.

But how much of that is reported in the MSM? (How many seeds on NT re: Syria have we seen lately? Apparently, no one cares when the perps are Arabs...and in the case of Syria barbaric atrocities are carried out by iranians and Russians as well).

Although many Iranians in the country are starting to become war weary-- many wish their government would take care of their problems at home instead of spending large sums of money on meddling in the affairs of other countries. . . (and of course sending their kids of to die...to defend a foreign dictator).

Or,,, for that matter...in Nigeria. From today's news:

SUICIDE BOMBERS KILL 10 IN ATTACK ON MOSQUE IN SOUTHEASTERN NIGER

The area around Diffa, close to Lake Chad and the borders with Nigeria, Chad and Cameroon, is a stronghold for two factions of militant group Boko Haram, which have been fighting to establish an Islamic state in the region.

"It was last night that these three people exploded their charges during a religious service," the spokesman said. He later said the three bombers were female.

My guess is that if anyone had looked at these suicide bombers before they detonated... just like the "Peaceful Palestinian Protesters"..they would have appeared to be "unarmed""....

Looks like this comment is reusable.

This article makes me think of a comment I read by one of our left leaning members.

Sadly, most people (especially many of the self-proclaimed "human rights advocates") don't really give a hoot about human suffering. They only bring these things up when it suits their own political agenda. - Anonymous Left Leaning NT Member (2012)

I have no idea who that was, but whomever it was that said that, he/she he is a very wise person indeed! :-)

(You have an excellent memory-- heck, that was 4 years ago! :-)

Fatah is the dominant party of the Palestinian Authority that rules the West Bank. Its members and supporters also make up the largest percentage of the PA security forces, responsible for suppressing public freedoms and cracking down on political rivals and dissent.

Abu Ghayyath may have been the latest victim of the 11-year-old power struggle between Fatah on one side, and Hamas in the West Bank and Gaza Strip on the other. Both Fatah and Hamas have been arresting and harassing each other's supporters for more than a decade.

The rivalry between Fatah and Hamas has resulted in a situation where the Palestinians have two separate mini-states -- one ruled by Fatah in the West Bank and another ruled by Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The two mini-states are both failed entities run by vicious and corrupt leaders who are blocking the emergence of new and younger leadership and clamping down on public freedoms.

These two mini-states have spared nothing in their struggle to throttle each other, from throwing Palestinians from rooftops and lynching them in public squares, to cutting off medical supplies, as President Abbas has done to the Gaza Strip.

I agree with this statement completely. Which brings up a real question. Why does the US support the Palestinian Authority?

Better still why does Israel support the PA? They have joined the US in supporting the PA very small and limited police force.

Is it because the PA is more interested in maintaining power and keeping Hamas in check than they are in helping their people; and trying to force an end to the Israeli occupation through diplomatic channels with the rest of the world excluding the US and Israel?

What the PA and Hamas are doing to their people in no way excuses Israeli actions that have kept the Palestinians divided with no hope of ever obtaining a connected, cohesive, viable state.

The only real winner in the current situation is Israel. They can let things continue as they are until they achieve whatever their territorial goals are.

I wish the US would get out of that area by withdrawing all monetary and military aid; but it will never happen. That includes Syria and Iraq- which all sides are reprehensible as well.

What actions are you referring to?

For anyone who knows even a little bit about the situation, the answer is quite simple. Most Palestinians support one of the two main existing factions: the PA or the totally barbaric terror group Hamas. While the PA far from perfect, it is really the only viable alternative to Hamas....

(There is a remote possibility that, someday, maybe, the PA may be willing to make peace with the Jews.

But Hamas? Nevah!!! :-(
