"I'll never tell."

LOL.  Then I will. The rays are seen ON the body of the bird, which would mean that the sun (or other source of the flare) is BETWEEN the bird and you, which, unless you are adept at space travel and have a MUCH stronger telephoto lens, would be somewhat of an unlikely situation.

Art should not be a copy of reality ... one of the damned things is enough! (Diderot)

Agreed, and that is the reason I much prefer Turner to Constable (as did John Ruskin whose writings contemporary to those artists introduced me to that issue).

More really good stuff!

How many "wasted shots" do you take, to get a great one like the fawn?

Shooting ten frames per second with the Nikon D500, in a burst of ten, depending of course on the subject and conditions, at least three or four will be publishable.

Ultimately, all I need is one, and in the age of digital, there’s no wasted film or waiting for processing. So, I will shoot in bursts and only share the successes and delete the failures.

That’s à very good success rate. If I could keep one from every burst, I'd be very pleased.

Photography, both the capabilities built into cameras and the processing/editing has really come a long way since the days of film and no computers.

That fawn is just doing what its gotta do, but I bet they'd give a lot to have just one finger on each hoof to scratch with. Later they figure out a deer's backscratcher which is a nice tree or tree branch to rub against. Of the three, I like the tern best, because the rear of a deer isn't their cutest feature. It's the other end that's cute.  Happy
