don't know how to post a song, as I spell IT, IDIOT, but I've been putting together a picture medley to this powerful song, that I'm creating to inspire a friend, going through some difficult times
The Artist is The Rival Sons, the song, Face of Light (Acoustic) or not Both are damn impressive
The range of these guys is amazing, (Especially the singer ) I was drawn by their heavier harder side, but the acoustic versions of quite a few of their songs, would be acceptable by ANY, who appreciate music, imho
if any have the inclination.
I highly doubt it will disappoint, as it is capable of spanning many genres.
It came with a Victrola I bought way back in the 70's. Still plays and sounds good too...reminds me of my great grandfather.
Isn't it amazing how little things like that trigger memory's? My sister Leta had a collection of Elvis records, original cuts, for years, she and, her husband were very protective of them, they had a stereo they used to play them, one of those large pieces of furniture that covered one wall made of wood that had a eight track player and, a radio in it with a spot for their most precious records to be stored and, everytime I see one of those at a yard sale or, an antique shop I think of her and, her Elvis records.
I'm not sure when Jimmy Durante recorded that, but it was probably 60 years ago. I have yet to see anyone , of any age, that doesnt like that recording. There is just something magical about it.
Buzz-- I posted a few without titles you can't see-- some of the later ones I posted do have visible titles.
Here are the ones where you can't see the titles:
#9.2 Ottawan - Haut Les Mains ("Crazy Dancin'" on the beach at a Club Med).
9.2.2 Bobby McFerrin - Don't Worry Be Happy
12 Pharrell Williams - Happy
13 Three Dog Night - Joy to the World
14 Footloose - Final Dance 1984 & 2011
15 Flashdance - What a Feeling
16 Sex Bombs (On Britain's Got Talent - very funny!)
17 Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers (I forget the name of the movie) technically altered so they are dancing in sync to Micke Muster's Boogie Woogie Country Girl.
There are also several others later where I typed the title over the movie window so you can see it.
That would have been my first choice, and I don't know if anyone who did not indicate in text what they posted had posted this, but it would be my second choice:
What a Wonderful World, sung by Louis Armstrong:
I know there is one member who is not going to be happy about the last scene shown in this video.
his always struck me as a kids song, but it makes me smile.Hands Up - Ottowan
This is one of my favs-- I didn't think anyone here knew it though.
For a long time it was the official song of Club Med in the Western hemisphere (and possibly the world?).
In Club med they used to do a "Crazy Music" event on the beach-- at least once daily. They sung this in both English and the original French (Hands Up = "Haut Les Mains").
You're better than the best I'm lucky just to linger in your light Cooler then the flip side of my pillow, that's right Completely unaware Nothing can compare to where you send me, Lets me know that it's OK, yeah it's OK And the moments where my good times start to fade
You make me smile like the sun Fall out of bed, sing like a bird Dizzy in my head, spin like a record Crazy on a Sunday night You make me dance like a fool Forget how to breathe Shine like gold, buzz like a bee Just the thought of you can drive me wild Oh, you make me smile
Even when you're gone Somehow you come along Just like a flower poking through the sidewalk crack and just like that You steal away the rain and just like that
You make me smile like the sun Fall out of bed, sing like a bird Dizzy in my head, spin like a record Crazy on a Sunday night You make me dance like a fool Forget how to breathe Shine like gold, buzz like a bee Just the thought of you can drive me wild Oh, you make me smile
Don't know how I lived without you Cause every time that I get around ya I see the best of me inside your eyes You make me smile You make me dance like a fool Forget how to breathe Shine like gold, buzz like a bee Just the thought of you can drive me wild
You make me smile like the sun Fall out of bed, sing like a bird Dizzy in my head, spin like a record Crazy on a Sunday night You make me dance like a fool Forget how to breathe Shine like gold, buzz like a bee Just the thought of you can drive me wild Oh, you make me smile Oh, you make me smile Oh, you make me smile
Have you ever noticed how some of those famous sayings also have contradictory famous sayings?
But that being said, your point is well-taken*.
I have missed so many things because of procrastination.
One example:
In the 60s I was a big fan of Janice Joplin. At the time I lived up in New York-- in the East Village. My apartment was six short blocks from the Fillmore East!
Fillmore East was rock promoter Bill Graham's rock venue on Second Avenue near East 6th Street in the (at the time) Lower East Side neighborhood, now called the East Village neighborhood of the borough of Manhattan of New York City. It was open from March 8, 1968, to June 27, 1971, and featured some of the biggest acts in rock music at the time. The Fillmore East was a companion to Graham's Fillmore Auditorium, and its successor, the Fillmore West, in San Francisco, Graham's home base.
Some friends mentioned that a fantastic opportunity had come-- Joplin was appearing live at the Fillmore East! But the day they told me I was depressed-- so I passed on that wonderful opportunity. Shortly thereafter she walked on (OD'd on Heroin . . . so I missed my chance to see her live.
Janis Lyn Joplin (January 19, 1943 – October 4, 1970), nicknamed "Pearl", was an American rock, soul and blues singer and songwriter, and one of the most successful and widely-known female rock stars of her era. [1] [2] [3] After releasing three albums, she died of a heroin overdose at the age of 27. A fourth album, Pearl , was released in January 1971, just over three months after her death. It reached number one on the Billboard charts.
When it's not always raining there'll be days like this When there's no one complaining there'll be days like this When everything falls into place like the flick of a switch Well my mama told me there'll be days like this
When you don't need to worry there'll be days like this When no one's in a hurry there'll be days like this When you don't get betrayed by that old Judas kiss Oh my mama told me there'll be days like this
See everybody that´s existing Got a mind of their own We´re all Kings and Queens With a throne of our own Tryin to raise a family Is an empty home We got to learn to stick together Hate to be here alone 'Cause the world is a place That will eat you alive in one day Said the world is a place That you can´t survive without faith

It´s not about Win or lose We all lose When they feed on the souls of the innocent Blood drenched pavement Keep on moving though the waters stay raging In this maze you can lose your way (your way) It might drive you crazy But don't let it faze you no way (no way)

Country Joe McDonald performs his big hit "I-feel-like-I'm-fixing- to-die-rag" (The Viet Nam song) live at Woodstock. He manages to get 300,000 people singing to stop the war in Viet Nam. (Or maybe they really were "half a million strong"!) This Woodstock Hero is still touring, now fighting against a new war in Iran. Visit his homepage for more music and info. R.I.P. everybody who died in this war.
now come on mothers throughout the land, pack your boys off to vietnam, come on fathers don't hesitate, send your sons off before its too late, be the first one on your block, to have your boy come home in a box
and its 1,2,3 what are we fightin for? don't ask me i don't give a dam, the next stop is Vietnam
and its 5,6,7 open up the pearly gates.
Well there aint no time to wonder why...WHOPEE we're all gunna die.
Excellent video of Woodstock BTW.

I thank you, good Sir
how do you vote down that song...?
You go on You Tube video you want to post and copy the url from the address bar.
Then on Newstalkers (in this reply box) you click on the icon on the bottom row second from the right (just to the left of the smiley)
When you open that up you will see a choice that says "You Tube" click on that
There will be a long address bar on that page - paste the url you copied from the You Tube video page
to the far right next to that bar there will be a box that says "Embed This Media" click that
you're done
I was actually successful with acoustic version
thanx for the tutorial
I have that song on 78!
My Mom did to until I scratched when I was five.
It came with a Victrola I bought way back in the 70's. Still plays and sounds good too...reminds me of my great grandfather.

hey !
They are very good. Meaningful lyrics too.
Thank you, and thanx for the help, Raven Wing would be proud of me, as she used to post videos for me.
Powerful song, both versions in my oh so humble opine.
How one can vote it as collapse thread, is beyond me.
How do you even bring collapse thread up ? I don't even want to know.
The collapse thread popped up so quick, no way they were even listened to ???
That's the ultimate definition of ignorance
I'm not sure what you are refrring to.
to the left of vote up, is collapse thread, no ?
people voted collapse thread on Face of Light
The minus two is not a vote down. It refers to how many responses the comment has.
well
then I guess my moniker refers to me this time
.
it wasn't there when I joined, and I remember the voting of things going on for coc and such, but I was gone for a while.
thanks for your enlightenmeant for me
Well, glad you are back. : )
It is a fairly new feature TiG added.
I think there is a way to collapse a long thread if one does not want to read all of it. Reduce loading time or something.
I'm not sure when Jimmy Durante recorded that, but it was probably 60 years ago. I have yet to see anyone , of any age, that doesnt like that recording. There is just something magical about it.
He was one of the last Vaudeville players to be on TV, he could do it all, acting, comedy, singing.
wasn't that song in a movie or two, as well ?
Yes, several of his movies featured it at some point in the film.
And you posted....??????

Really excellent song-- also one of my favs.
And apparently many other people felt the same-- just checked on YouTube, found this:
Three Dog Night - Joy to the World
Footloose - Final Dance 1984 & 2011 versions
But a slow glowing dream
That your fear seems to hide
Deep inside your mind
Silent tears full of pride
In a world made of steel
Made of stone
Close my eyes, feel the rhythm
Wrap around
Take a hold of my heart
Bein's believin'
I can have it all
Now I'm dancing for my life
And make it happen
Pictures come alive
You can dance right through your life
Close my eyes, I am rhythm
In a flash
It takes hold of my heart
