A Surf Fisherman Heads Up the Beach

Years ago, I spent a good amount of time fishing for bluefish and striped bass in the ocean surf at places like Barnegat Light, New Jersey and all along Jersey's Long Beach Island. Much of that fishing was done after sunset … Coleman lanterns guiding us up and down the sand and along the surf.

I recently pulled out the surf poles and reels … maybe the blues and stripers are calling to me.

FYI: As in recent articles, the posted image is in the style of "Romantic Realism."

Just change one letter in the headline and you'll have all the religious conservatives like HA and LFOD over here telling us all about the ills of socialism...

"A Serf Fisherman Heads Up the Beach"...

But seriously, that's a beautiful picture. Could be the cover of a spiritual journey book or novel. Something like "Vanishing Footprints" or "Piers in the Sand"...

"Vanishing Footprints"

Interesting that you put those words together. In the French version of the song "Autumn Leaves", the words are:  "Et la mare efface sur le sable, les pas des ament desunnis."  (Forgive my spelling, but I've forgotten most of my French due to non-use.)  Loosely translated, the words mean:  "And the sea washes over the sand, the footprints disappear."

I remember the days when I went to the beach and, saw serf fishermen all over the place, I always wanted to try that but, never could afford the gear. Pier fishing and, boat fishing was the closest I came to it.

Think I'll head up the beach myself and say "good night".

Good night all.
