Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hospitalized With 3 Broken Ribs
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg of the Supreme Court was hospitalized on Thursday morning, with three broken ribs after falling in her office Wednesday evening, a spokeswoman said.
Justice Ginsburg, 85, went home after her fall, but experienced discomfort over the night. She was admitted to George Washington University Hospital, where doctors found three broken ribs on her left side, Kathy Arberg, a Supreme Court spokeswoman, said in a statement.
The next sitting of the Supreme Court begins on Nov. 26, and Justice Ginsburg’s history suggests the injuries are not likely to keep her away. She broke two ribs in 2012 , without missing work. And she returned to work quickly after undergoing a heart procedure in 2012 . She is also a cancer survivor and returned to work less than three weeks after having surgery.
Even as Justice Ginsburg has shown she bounces back quickly from health setbacks, liberals have become jittery about how much more time she will be able to serve, particularly with the balance of the Supreme Court shifting to the right because of President Trump’s appointment of two conservative justices.
She has said that she will stay for as long as she is healthy and mentally sharp.
She is neither, and she should gracefully retire.
That's for sure !
She falls asleep (Sleepy Smurf) at the bench !
She shoulda retired 10 years ago.
85 years old and she went HOME after breaking 3 ribs.
Tough as nails. Any swan song is premature.
I agree. Even though looks frail and has had several very serious illnesses, she's in good shape. Glad she works with a personal trainer and takes her health seriously!
I saw a video of her workout. Embarrassed me...I couldn't hang...
My dear ancient Mom is older than RBG and I am still intimidated. She is small but she is wirey and spry and she has more titanium parts in her than the space shuttle. "We can rebuild her". With proper care I figure Ginsburg can go on at least a dozen more years...
Sad, but courageous.
I don't particularly like her politics, and her opinions in my opinion are sometimes exasperatingly illogical, that being said, she is one of the sharpest knives in the SC drawer, I have to admit. Hell her best buddy on the court was Scalia, that says something right there.
I wish her a speedy recovery......
Broken ribs suck and it seems like they take forever to heal.
It would have been interesting to see how Republicans would have reacted if Democrats had taken control of the Senate, then RBG retires and the Democrat controlled senate chose to sit on their hands and not even give any Trump appointees a review let alone an up or down vote for two years. Republicans had set the precedent with Merrick Garland, so I'm sure they would have just accepted that as the new normal. /s
RBG is going to stay as long as she has to even if she has to be wheeled in each day on a gurney. She won't willingly give up another seat to the worst President in American history.
The Democratic Party can thank then-Senator Joe Biden (1992) for that.
The indomitable RBG will be just fine. Did Kavanaugh really push her?
As long as a rib didn't puncture her lung, her ribs should heal well.
Please do not derail my seed like that, JBB. You know better.
