Snipes pulls back the veil
"We believe these actions are malicious, we believe that the allegations that are set forth in the governor's executive order are done for the purposes of embarrassing Dr. Snipes – embarrassing her and tarnishing her record, and we will be fighting this. In addition to that, Dr. Snipes herby rescinds her resignation that was set forth which would have been effective on the fourth of January," Snipes' attorney Burnadette Norris-Weeks said in a press conference.

The question of election disasters in  Broward County always had been about whether Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes was totally incompetent or whether she was committing fraud. Her long history involving many brushes with Florida election law is legandary. She was first appointed by Governor Jeb Bush in 2003 and for some unexplained reason has been reelected to the position 3 times. Even more astounding is that despite illegally destroying ballots in 2017, Governor Scott did not replace her then. Now he has. After Snipes announced that she would step down next year, Scott announced that he wasn't waiting and was suspending and replacing her at once.

In his executive order, Scott said he was suspending Snipes due to misfeasance, incompetence and neglect of duty.

"After a series of inexcusable actions, it's clear that there needs to be an immediate change in Broward County and taxpayers should no longer be burdened by paying a salary for a supervisor of elections who has already announced resignation, " Scott said in a statement.

Now Snipes has responded by rescinding her resignation.

There can no longer be any doubt about whether all of the problems plaguing Broward County were caused by incompetence or malfeasance.

Snipes has removed the vail. She is a political activist.

I'm surprised it took so long for her to be fired.  Seems like she has a long history, almost a career of doing things incorrectly/poorly/illegally.

Well, they got part of it right anyway, there is incompetence and, malfeasance in Florida elections, it just comes from the top of the food chain, Scott and, his Secretary of State, who is in charge of all elections in Florida.

Which is the reason that the same county repeatedly has issues, spanning over multiple election cycles, following the law and getting an accurate vote count in on time.

It's the Democrat's way of doing this, vote early and often, cheating and fraud is no biggy.

Do you have any proof of voter fraud or, is this just more Right Wing escapism.

Yep, there were issues in that county back when George W. and, Al Gore had their face off there so, blaming it all on Snipes isn't right, from what I understand, she started asking for more help from the state offices right after she was first appointed, saying that the machines in the county weren't enough and, that they needed to be upgraded. That's why I say look at Scott's office if you want to place blame.

What Snipes did is obvious to any thinking person.

Then are you blaming her for what happened in 2000 in Broward County? According to the seeded article she wasn't in place until 2003,

She was first appointed by Governor Jeb Bush in 2003

I'd like to  find out if its incompetence or, something else is wrong in that county, it seems that Jeb Bush replaced her predecessor with Snipes for the same reason, it kind of makes one go hmmmm,

As Supervisor of Elections[edit]
On November 20, 2003, Snipes was appointed supervisor of elections for Broward County by Governor Jeb Bush to take over for her predecessor, Miriam Oliphant, after Oliphant was removed from office for irregularities and fraud in the handling of ballots in the 2000 United States presidential election in that county.[6] [

So what you're saying is they should've just appointed a Republican to a highly Democratic County to solve the problem.  That would've went over great with the Democrats of the county.

So A Republican appointed her, and Democrats kept electing her.

Whose job was it exactly to run the elections in that county?

Or is it just that the GOP is supposed to be responsible and do her job she was unable to do competently?

Why not? I'm sure there are Republican county's that have had Democratic elections officials. But, that isn't what was said and, you know it.

And, since 2003, things in Broward got worse instead of improving.  In this last election alone, Broward was unable to complete their original vote tally on time, did not process questionable ballots correctly, and refused to issue a vote/ballot count despite being required to by law while processing the questionable ballots.  None of those things are due to Florida election law or from Governor Scott or any other top level Florida official.  ALL of them belong solely to Snipes' office.  Three races were delayed because of her county's lack of forthrightness: Florida Governor's race, Florida's Senate race, and Florida's Agriculture Commissioner's race.  The GOP candidate for Agriculture Commissioner was trying to get some sort of count total from Broward for several days and went on The Daily Ledger on OANN to talk about it.

Watch the video embedded in the 2nd link, which contains an interview with a Broward County Commissioner discussing the lead up to the 2018 election and actions Snipes took in that lead up.

Sorry, but the Governor's office shouldn't have to do HER job.

If it was solely the fault of the Governor or his office, then every county in Florida would have problems.

What none of you are getting is the fact that this was going on before she was even in the office in Broward County so, it can't all be put on her for the things that have gone wrong there, the state office must take some of the responsibility for the problems in Broward as well. It is disingenuous to blame Snipes and, her alone since her predecessor had problems there as well during the 2000 campaign.

The Governor should make it official and simply fire this incompetent hack.

No need or sense in wasting time with her.

Florida, especially her county, should demand better.

FIRE THIS INCOMPETENT HACK NOW!

The history of voter corruption in Broward County goes back quite a long time. Snipe's predecessor was Miriam Oliphant, who also has a very troubling history. Oliphant was appointed by a Democrat.

SELECTIVE, DISHONEST, TRUMPIAN, RIGHT-WING INDIGNATION.

Here's the one who ought to be kicked up!

Judge orders Georgia to stop tossing absentee ballots in rebuke to GOP candidate

Decision was a victory for voting rights activists, who feared the signature mismatch practice could disenfranchise thousands

A federal judge has ordered election officials in Georgia to stop throwing out absentee ballots solely because of a   suspected signature mismatch . The decision was a victory for voting rights activists who feared the practice could disenfranchise thousands of eligible voters.

The temporary restraining order on Wednesday amounted to a striking rebuke of Brian Kemp, the controversial   Georgia   state elections chief who is also running for governor in one of the most closely fought and closely watched races of the midterms.

Judge Leigh Martin May agreed with the plaintiffs, led by the American Civil Liberties Union, that rejecting absentee ballots without notifying voters or offering them a chance to resolve any discrepancy was a violation of their rights of equal protection and due process under the fourteenth amendment.

She ordered authorities to include the ballots in the provisional vote tally and give affected voters up to three days after the 6 November election to prove their eligibility.

The ballot rejections in Gwinnett account for one-third of the statewide total.

Kemp, a pro-Trump conservative, has thrown hundreds of thousands of people off voter registration lists and fought for a 2017 “exact match” law empowering voting officials to reject registration applications for as little as a missing hyphen.

Fucking racist right-wing voter-disenfranchisement hypocrisy!

Did Georgia have a hand in running elections in Florida that isn't widely known or something?

ONLY TO SUDDENLY REALIZE THAT IT'S ONLY OUTRAGE DIRECTED TOWARDS BLACK DEMOCRATS INVOLVED IN SUCH IRREGULARITIES!

Yeah! We're all blind and stupid and you boys are just a load of righteous brothers!

Well piss in my face and tell me "it's rainin'" … don't that beat all.

But WTF … let's do Florida!

Florida Is Suppressing Hundreds of Thousands of Potential Voters, Study Suggests

FLORIDA GOP LEADERS ADMIT VOTER SUPPRESSION WAS MOTIVE BEHIND VOTER LAWS

The   Palm Beach Post   revealed this week that former Florida GOP leaders intentionally designed restrictive voter laws to limit votes from Democrats and people of color. Florida voters, as we saw in this year’s election endured long voting lines and other confusion as a result of reduced voting hours, voter purges, and voter registration restrictions pushed by Republican leaders. In   this article , former GOP chairman, former Gov. Charlie Crist, and others revealed that prevention of voter fraud was not the underlying motivation behind voting restrictions; a GOP win was.

Got any other STATE favorites in kind?
