* HAPPY NEW YEAR 2019 *

Funniest story. The atheists (friends) on NT have given me a book to start the New Year off with and I have 'leapt' to the task with both an audiobook and a read version.  It's All Good! I began both listening and reading moments ago!

I did not see that coming, and I did not predict you asking the question. STELLAR DAY- A'MAC!

NOTE: "Live as if I will die today?"

To add some colour to the January 1st 2019 page, here are a couple of photos I took of stores in Chengdu that sell Chinese New Year decorations and paraphernalia.

Dear Friend AMac: Glad you found that photo of us as teenagers tooling around in our one horsepower engine ride.

As I recall, we were headed out for a double date with the Doublemint Twins.

Breathe mint, candy mint.

I don't really recall who dated whom.

Ah, the ravages of age.

Smiles.

E.

When you see her, tell Suzy I hope the chapping is easing up.

My apologies.

Dear Friend Dave: "Over the river and through the woods".

I recall hearing of horse drawn sleighs from my paternal grandmother, Bubbie Esther.

In my youth I used to go on my flexible flyer sled in the winter.

When our son and daughter were of age, we did that as a family.

One of the true joys of winter.

Great image.

Thanks.

Holy Smoke!!!!  The sun just came out for the first time in about a month. Although it's still through a misty sky it's amazing.  It's nine o'clock in the morning here, and I don't intend to go out until around noon, but I can finally dust off my camera a get some photos today, that is, if the weather doesn't return to normal by then.

Never mind, the sunshine was merely a temporary aberration.

Mist, haze and fog are great unifiers for composition's sake, and, as creators of atmospheric perspective. When forms are literally shrouded and melt into the distance of a scene, they are often spiritual, magical and/or sublime. Don't wait for the sun, exploit the MIST-ery.

As you've already seen, I have little choice here.  I once said that the most useless thing I brought with me to China was my binoculars.
