Super spreader Strong
“The battlefield,” Gutfeld says. That’s how Trump showed his strength—by taking it to this girly virus and having irresponsible superspreader events all over the country!  The problem with this is playing tough for the cameras doesn’t defeat a virus. To defeat a virus, you stay off the damn field and deprive it of vectors. You do not defeat the fucking novel coronavirus in an arm-wrestling match. You beat it by being smart and responsible and restrained and considerate of your neighbors.

S E E D E D   C O N T E N T

You would think that the president contracting the virus, requiring oxygen, becoming physically weak, and being airlifted to a hospital as a result of his own recklessness would disabuse his fans of believing that true strength comes from ignoring the virus and mocking precautions.

You would be wrong.   They are taking the opposite approach.

The president’s physical frailty is now requiring him and his team to concoct a new strongman fantasy. One where he has only become frail because of his keen desire to FIGHT.

His daughter praised his   RELENTLESS   willingness to sign   fake papers   for the cameras. His top staffer said his video message was a shot at   SLEEPY JOE   and goes on “the shows” to   mock Biden   for using his mask as a prop. Breitbart attacked Bernie Sanders for having a   socially distant outdoor crowd   at an event for Biden’s campaign.

Trump is honing the “carelessly risking death is strong” pitch himself in his hospital video. “We have to confront problems. As a leader you have to confront problems, there has never been a great leader who would have done that.”

But nobody did a more full-throated job of demonstrating what this phony strength spin looks like than   Greg Gutfeld :

He didn’t hide from the virus. The reason he didn’t hide from the virus is he didn’t want America to hide from the virus. He was going to do the same thing, he was going to walk out there on that battlefield with you, and not sit somewhere in a basement and tell you how you have to get back to work, but not go out himself. . . . So he took the risk, he got the virus, but he was doing it for us.

“The battlefield,” Gutfeld says. That’s how Trump showed his strength—by taking it to this girly virus and having irresponsible superspreader events all over the country!

The problem with this, which you know if you are here at   The Bulwark —and not a little nerd who lost his sense of ironic distance when the Bad Orange Man performed orchidectomies on the boys of Fox—is playing tough for the cameras doesn’t defeat a virus.

To defeat a virus, you stay off the damn field and deprive it of vectors. You do not defeat the fucking novel coronavirus in an arm-wrestling match. You beat it by being smart and responsible and restrained and considerate of your neighbors.

Donald Trump is laying in Walter Reed right now because he didn’t understand that. Some 209,000 people are dead because he didn’t understand that.

How many more people have to die before these sycophants give up on the lie that being reckless means that,   ackshually , Trump is a super-duper tough fighter man? 200,000 more? 400,000?

If   that   doesn’t make your blood pressure as high as mine, here’s a little   bonus   content on Gutfeld ,   who was “one of the more forceful critics of Trump’s equivocating on neo-Nazi marchers in 2017, but three years later he’s all-in on defending the president, now calls it a hoax.”

Trump sure beat up that virus didn't he?

It seems to me that defeating the virus would involve not getting it.  Trump got it, and needed the highest level of drug treatment available to "defeat " it.

The question is; is he gasping for breathe because of COVID, or because he had to walk up some stairs?  Could go either way.

I don't know why people consider being a loud mouth as strength.

His brand of idiocy seems to be contagious. The governor of my state has decided that masks are not mandatory. Now I can go out somewhere and no one is wearing a mask, when just days before almost everyone was.

And new cases are still happening. Idiots are just going to cause another spike.

I also know that once donald gets well, he will come out and say, see it can be beaten, it is nothing.

Causing people to be even more careless.

LOL

  • true strength is having a problem and still carrying on with life.

obviously, this is something the left has no clue about.

just curious,  do you think blue state voters are going to blame trump because they are going broke as their governors are keeping them locked down?  if so, think again.

Bullshit!

In the USA you cannot defeat this virus by locking down people's everyday activities...like going to work to support your family....including in many cases, your elderly and frail parents

So you think you can end the virus by

there is no "end"  - this virus is not going away...

should we all hide in our houses and go broke?  ( rhetorical )

being weak like that does no one any good

that virus is very survivable.    the whole country going broke is not survivable.

Why is Trump roaming all over the country (or was) having rallies of hundreds or thousands of people and doing so without masks or social distancing?

What does that have to do with "business" ?  It has to do with his ego.

This could have been fairly straightforward. If we had "shut down" the country in the beginning and had very few exceptions we would be way farther along in recovery. Because Trump played it down and got his cult to play it down the effort to minimize the virus through precautionary measures has been haphazard at best.  One step forward two steps back.

Now he says everyone should be "strong" like he was.

Strong?  He got sick enough to be given three different drugs which have never been used on the same patient at the same time before.  If he has a decent outcome (he may have lung damage) it was because of the drugs, not because he was "strong".

the same reason the left was protesting in huge numbers and setting fires in major cities across the country.    ( he wanted to )

if the left can protest and burn innocent people's business?

we can protest by going to a peaceful political rally

many people don't get paid if they don't work, so little things like rent, utilities. insurance, and food may very well break many.

Nobody wants to answer that question so I will.  The obvious anwwer is Trump - even after catching the virus himself he is STILL playing it down and his disciples will NEVER criticize him for it, but will do as he says and does.  What I really don't understand is that what he is doing is self-defeating, because if his "Pied-Piper" followers do as he does and says, and die because of the virus, then he loses their votes since most of them are waiting to vote in person.  It sure beats me.

Even if they did you'd just get some Trump fluffer sycophant coming up with all sorts of excuses while calling it the "China Virus" trying to deflect any and all blame from their dear Leader because in Trumplandia nothing is his fault and he should be praised for all things good, which apparently requires being a white conservative Christian.

I know you need to blame trump.... but fuggedaboutit.

Can you explain why some nations have contained the virus and America, a most advanced nation,

sure can,

regardless of who is president, on this issue, each state can do what they want.

we have states still locked down, others in various stages of re-opening, and at least one state that never locked down at all.  there is absolutely nothing any president can do about that.

and yes, our system of government comes with a bit of chaos... LOL

  • there is no way to blame a president for decisions made at the state levels.

there are 50 state governors out there... all doing different things getting different results

so if ya need someone to blame?  blame those governors.

Actually, I think you've made a good point with your explanation of a patchwork quilt of state governors who have rights independant of the White House and each other.  However it is interesting to me to see that party politics plays such an influencial role when a universal threat happens.  When Japan invaded the USA, could the different states do as they wished, some reacting to it, some not?  Or was FDR able to determine that reaction for the whole country.

When Japan invaded the USA, could the different states do as they wished,

truth is, I'm, not all that studied up on that scenario

however, as defending the 50states is the primary job of our federal government...   id guess the feds have some pretty expansive WAR powers.

for instance,  I seriously doubt a state could stop the feds from defending a state from invasion and any governor who tried to stand in the way of that defense would probably wind up at gitmo or shot.

However it is interesting to me to see that party politics plays such an influencial role when a universal threat happens.

the only cure is term limits.

people there too long become corrupt.

the only good news is.. the political dinosaurs in politics my whole life are now facing extinction.

Donald Trump is a royal pain in the ass! He does not even know how to be sick and let others rest apart from his lying and schemes. We don't need a fake super-hero president; we need a compassionate human leader. Even red Russian Putin has better sense than to go out and 'challenge' the invisible virus to knock him to his knees and off his feet!

  • Trump is a man who challenged Obama's college grades, then threatened his own schools if they dared release any info about his own grades.
  • Trump is a man who demands that the President of the United States take responsibility for what happens in his country, unless he is that president.  Then he states that he takes no responsibility.
  • Trump is a man that claims to know more than the scientists, and generals, and anyone else around him, but who misspells his own wife's name and thinks windmills cause cancer.
  • Trump is a man who is going to show China that we cannot be taken advantage of by increasing our trade deficit with China higher than it has ever been before.
  • Trump is the man who was going to block foreign interference in our elections by hiring the Russian government to oversee our cyber security.

  • trump is securing our border

By building 5 miles of border fence, or by caging children and breaking up families seeking asylum?

  • trump ended the shit trade deals obama and biden tried to put in place.

Our current trade deficits are far worse now than they were under Obama.  China is eating our lunch.

  • trumps record on the economy crushes bidens entire 47 yrs in politics

Trump took a robust growing economy and put us back down into another recession.

the economy:  joe can not compete with trump on that issue

Once again, we are back into a recession under Trump with terrible unemployment numbers.

Poll: Biden now even with Trump on handling the economy

Trump's Advantage Over Biden on Economy Slipping

Trump, Biden tied when it comes to economy: poll
