Republican Trust In The Electoral Process Has Cratered , SINCE The Election

Josh Jordan

@NumbersMuncher

This is simply insane. Trust in the electoral process among Republicans has cratered from 68% before the election to 34% now. The reason: Donald Trump can't accept that he lost. This is the damage Trump is causing and almost every elected Republican is helping him do it.

This is one of the reasons why we cannot "reconcile" with the Trump crazies. They don't stop being crazy.

Today, Mitch McConnell refused to accept the election results, and the two Republican senators from Georgia attacked the Republican Secretary of State in Georgia, and Trump is tweeting unhinged shit that some fear will lead to violence.

All we have to do is look at the posts for the real truth.

Right? Why should Democrats "reconcile" when Republicans have been refusing to do the same for years now. The religious right believe their "way" is superior just like many of them wrongly believe their skin color is superior. Because of this they justify any means as long as they get what they see as a "win" for their white Christian patriarchy ideology. Compromising or reconciling with such folk will just keep inching us towards their desired theocracy they believe is prophesied. We need to learn that you can't rationalize with a zealot, they are not concerned with making the world a better place through negotiation and reconciliation, they have just one agenda and that is to force their deeply held religious beliefs on others and move us towards their goal of Armageddon where they believe their almighty God will come and save them while destroying their enemies aka anyone who has disagreed with them. When religious conservative zealots look at their opponents, they don't see another human to listen to and care about, they see an adversary that they believe their God will soon burn and torture to death which is why they see no reason to compromise or reconcile. The sooner the rest of the world understands this about them the better.

stop accusing trump supporters of being racists

Why? Trump appealed to racists, we saw them come out for him in droves, many of his supporters are open white supremacists. Do you deny this?

He called Mexicans rapists and said they were an "invasion" and promised his fearful base he would "build a wall and make Mexico pay for it".

His racist base cheered.

He called for "a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States".

His racist base cheered.

Trump referred to Haiti, El Salvador, and an assortment of African nations as “shithole countries".

His racist base cheered.

Trump spent years falsely claiming Obama wasn't born in the United States.

His racist base cheered.

He argued a judge born in the US should recuse himself from a case against Trump because of his "Mexican heritage".

His racist base cheered.

He regularly re-tweeted messages from white supremacist's and Neo-Nazi's.

His racist base cheered.

He called the group of tiki torch wielding white supremacists and neo-Nazi's who were collectively chanting "Jews will not replace us!" "fine people".

His racist base cheered.

He blocked the removal of confederate monuments and blocked the renaming of confederate named military bases and ships.

His racist base cheered.

He repeatedly called a sitting Senator "Pocahontas" offending many native Americans.

His racist base cheered.

He viscously attacked black sports figures and their mothers calling them "sons of bitches" for taking a respectful knee during the anthem in protest.

His racist base cheered.

He told immigrant women of color in Congress to "go back" to their countries of origin because he disagreed with their politics.

His racist base cheered.

He told the white supremacist militia group Proud Boys to "Stand back, stand by."

His racist base cheered.

And recently he suggested that somehow the first black South Asian American woman “doesn’t meet the requirements” to be Vice President or President.

His racist base cheered.

It would seem that some Trump supporters are like those wannabe righteous fellows who claim they only look at Playboy for the articles. Sure, you might be on the Trump train only for his policies, his dismantling of the EPA and political norms, his nominating conservative judges, but the real centerfold of Trumpism is the deep seated white grievance and racist hatred toward the racially and culturally diverse America progressives have been supporting and building upon. So while you can claim you don't look at those sticky pages of Trumps portfolio, we all know its there and why, and plenty of his base are getting off on it.

Oh please do tell... /s

They always resort to race when they have nothing else. It’s weak, it’s lame.

If Trump and his sycophants would stop being so fucking racist perhaps we could debate something else. The KKK and neo-Nazi's are cheering Trump but his blind deaf and dumb followers never ask themselves why, they just welcome the votes because they don't feel threatened by white supremacists, why should they be? Even if they don't completely share the deep seated hate, they share a skin color, faith and level of education so they're careful to not rock the racist boat for fear of losing that third of Republican voters who love to wave their confederate flags swastikas and chant "Jews will not replace us!". And yes, those sniveling piece of shit white supremacist's, aka "fine people" according to Trump, marching in Charlottesville trying to prevent the removal of a confederate monument were weak and lame but I've no doubt they all voted for Trump last week though not even their votes could get their dear Leader re-elected.

Clearly the least of your concerns is to "reconcile" with all 71 million of us alleged racist deplorables. You should be happy that your guy won, although it remains to be seen if it will amount to much of any thing at all. And we continue to not care what you may think of us because your opinions are meaningless to rational and normal people. The GOP should hold on to the Senate thanks to the few decent Democrats that didn't fall for radical left agenda so Joe is literally fucked and powerless. Expect the midterms to vote out the Democrats.

Gore didn't concede until December 13th, so no rush for Trump to do so until January 20th, until every case of alleged voter fraud is investigated.

There is more to Trumpism than meets the eye.  Trouble is, those that support it do not understand it.  And for the 'rank and file' that supports ( it ) neither do they understand that ( it ) is not about them.

"Republican trust in election process cratered?"  Well that is only because of Donald J. Trump.  In many areas the GOP still picks their voters because of carefully 'coiffured' pieces of land in which select voters reside.  Thusly the GOP's frustrations and dismay are as a result of the existence of Donald J. Trump.

The only real question remaining for those in 'the stalwart class of GOP' is------Is Donald J. Trump really worth all of that?

I just read a column in today's L.A. Times by leading conservative pundit, Jonah Goldberg.  Referring to Trump's cult of personality, Goldberg wrote:  "His infectious narcissism and incessant victimhood fueled this cult of personality, which he valued more than the office he held.  He's lost his grip on office, but he's doing everything he can to hold onto the cult, by claiming he was robbed."

Goldberg mentions:  "His minor successes were celebrated as unprecedented victories.  His major successes were offered as the proof of the president's almost superhuman qualities...

Goldberg cites:  the superhuman image he insisted his loyalists embrace... the self indulgence, the conspiracy theorizing and the constant need for praise and attention."
