Rudy Giuliani

Even after a   mob takeover of the United States Capitol by Donald Trump supporter extremists ,   Rudy Giuliani   is still trying to subvert the will of the people. While members of Congress remained barricaded in their offices or in undisclosed locations underneath the Capitol, Donald Trump’s lawyer was calling senators and begging them to slow down the electoral vote certification. One of the senators Giuliani was hoping to get in on the scheme was the newly sworn-in Republican Senator from Alabama, Tommy Tuberville. But there was a problem. Giuliani didn’t call Tuberville. He accidentally left a voicemail for another senator, a senator who is remaining anonymous but took it upon themselves to   send the audio of the call to The Dispatch .

Here’s what Giuliani had to say.

Senator Tuberville? Or I should say Coach Tuberville. This is Rudy Giuliani, the president’s lawyer. I’m calling you because I want to discuss with you how they’re trying to rush this hearing and how we need you, our Republican friends, to try to just slow it down so we can get these legislatures to get more information to you. And I know they’re reconvening at 8 tonight, but it … the only strategy we can follow is to object to numerous states and raise issues so that we get ourselves into tomorrow—ideally until the end of tomorrow.

I know McConnell is doing everything he can to rush it, which is kind of a kick in the head because it’s one thing to oppose us, it’s another thing not to give us a fair opportunity to contest it. And he wants to try to get it down to only three states that we contest. But there are 10 states that we contest, not three. So if you could object to every state and, along with a congressman, get a hearing for every state, I know we would delay you a lot, but it would give us the opportunity to get the legislators who are very, very close to pulling their vote, particularly after what McConnell did today. It angered them, because they have written letters asking that you guys adjourn and send them back the questionable ones and they’ll fix them up.

So, this phone number, I’m available on all night, and it would be an honor to talk to you. Thank you.

Not just because Giuliani got his numbers mixed up, Congress moved forward quickly Wednesday evening working toward certifying the electoral college votes and officially declaring Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as the next president and vice president.

What a time for   Trump to be suspended from Twitter .

The 60 odd lawsuits contesting the election results fair wasn't enough?

I little hyperbolic isn't it? How about idiot, opportunist, agitator or asshole? I'm kind of done with loaded partisan language. The hyperbolic us vs them conversation doesn't help make a point - unless the point is creating more division. I love you like a brother, Kav, but damn! At some point cooler heads must prevail. Poke the agitators back into their shadow holes, prosecute the criminals that broke into the Capital Building, label Trump as the Narcists in Chief and let's get back to work. The important issues here are to distribute COVID vaccine, get people back to work and fix our infrastructure. It isn't new commissions on un-American activities.

Trump needs to be arrested and charged as soon as he is out of office. If we let a sitting president direct violence against his own government with impunity then presidents truly are above the law and we are no longer a functional democracy grounded in the rule of law.

Agreed.  I think President Elect Joe Biden has no other choice.

I think the 'president' needs to be gone NOW.  He is serving absolutely no purpose other than trying to burn it all down.

EG, you may think that is hyperbolic but what he said in riling up the MAGA nuts is, IMO something that a traitor would say.

I don't cut him any slack at all.

For what reason? You must realize that Biden has no power to do this

Inciting a riot at the very least, and whatever else they can throw at him.

The DoJ does, which falls under the executive branch. Biden's DoJ need to pursue criminal charges ASAP.

The only thing I can think is this happens every time. When Dems are in control it is always the calls to all work together and get along when the other side of the isle never has any intention to.

Then they end up getting run over.

I for one am kinda tired of the Dems always being slow on messaging, having to take the high road when others will never do so.

I think you are right, which will further damage our country. If a president can get away with inciting violence against his own government and ordering his followers to interrupt a joint session of congress carrying out their constitutional duties the affirm the next president then they can do anything. They are above the law.

Trump needs to hurry up and shoot somebody quick while he still can!

...you may think that is hyperbolic but what he said in riling up the MAGA nuts...

This is part of my point. Trump supporters like Giuliani are using similar loaded hyperbolic language to rile up the MAGA metal midgets. So how much sense does it make for the left to be pointing fingers doing the exact same thing? Okay, maybe not the exact same thing, but this morning it's getting really close - Acts of treason carry a death penalty. Is that what you want? Round up Giuliani, Powel, Wood, Hannity and dozens of others - charge and convict them of treason and execute them? So, tell me should it be firing squad or lethal injection? Should the Biden Admin start up a commission on un-American activities?

I'm not saying they shouldn't be called out. They absolutely should. They should be called out and pasted with the results of the actions that took place yesterday. A more reasonable claim would be to charge those at the rally of inciting a riot. Charging those that broke into the Capital Building for trespass, destruction of government property and interfering with a police officer in the course of their duty. Any prison charges should be done one after the other and not concurrently.

That is what I am asking for. For those who broke in, and those who stood on that stage and got that group of morons going to begin with.

Yes, the virus and distribution of the vaccine are important. At the moment in FL, the roll out is chaotic.

Hopefully, it will get better.

I'm not advocating a commission on un-American activities what I am advocating is that Rudy and the rest of the MAGA nuts be shunned like the rats they are.

You know what happens when you fight fire with fire? Everyone gets burned. Dems do suck at messaging. No questions about that. I voted for Biden BECAUSE he's a moderate. I want him to to get shit done. NOT to inspire others to acts of civil disobedience.

I see no one inspiring acts of civil disobedience by calling for this 'president' to be justly charged with what he's done.

I don't think he'll get away with it. He may not be charged with inciting a riot, or whatever, but he'll be forever painted with that brush. Anything he does after this will be attached to rioting in the Capital Building. I think a lot of metaphorical bridges were burning while news coverage looped all day yesterday.

EDIT: IF they actually do invoke the 23rd as many are talking about this morning - he would not be able to run for federal office again.

Me too. Let's not give them any more power. Ignoring them, ridiculing them, shunning them and shutting them down is our best option. Rudy can be disbarred and cited for inciting a riot. Remember, he is still being investigated by the SDNY.

I'm pretty happy with the results, but Dems can't get a swollen head and try to push every crazy progressive thing they want. They'll lose the chambers in the mid-terms if they do. I'd love for first time VP Harris has to vote to break a tie in the Senate she simultaneously gives McConnell the finger.

What the hell is he talking about? This "hearing" is a special legislative session held on January 7 after a presidential election.

Rudy needs a change and a nap
