Fox News Flash top headlines are here.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., on Sunday announced that she is appointing Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., to the Jan. 6 select committee after rejecting two Republican allies of former President Donald Trump.

Shortly after suggesting on ABC's "This Week" that it was her "plan" to appoint Kinzinger, Pelosi's office sent out a press release making the announcement official.

"Today, I am announcing the appointment of Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger, an Air Force veteran and Lieutenant Colonel in the Air National Guard, to serve on the Select Committee," Pelosi said in the press release. "He brings great patriotism to the Committee's mission: to find the facts and protect our Democracy."

"On January 6th, insurrectionists attempted to overthrow the government during the worst assault on the Capitol since the War of 1812," Pelosi continued. "It is imperative that we get to the truth of that day and ensure that such an attack can never again happen. That is why we established the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol, which is bipartisan."

PELOSI BANS GOP REPS. JIM JORDAN, JIM BANKS FROM SERVING ON JAN. 6 COMMITTEE, MCCARTHY THREATENS TOTAL BOYCOTT

Kinzinger, who voted to impeach Trump following the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol for inciting an insurrection, is the second Republican to be appointed to the committee. Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., was selected earlier this month and also supported Trump's impeachment.

Kinzinger sent out a press release in response to the appointment, saying he "humbly accepted" the position and "will work diligently to ensure we get to the truth and hold those responsible for the attack fully accountable."

"This moment requires a serious, clear-eyed, non-partisan approach," Kinzinger continued. "We are duty-bound to conduct a full investigation on the worst attack on the Capitol since 1814 and to make sure it can never happen again."

Pelosi announced this past Wednesday she was rejecting Reps. Jim Jordan from Ohio and Jim Banks from Indiana - two strong allies of former President Donald Trump - from joining the Jan. 6 committee due to past statements that she claims will hurt the "integrity of the investigation."

"With respect for the integrity of the investigation, with an insistence on the truth and with concern about statements made and actions taken by these Members, I must reject the recommendations of Representatives Banks and Jordan to the Select Committee," Pelosi said in a statement. "The unprecedented nature of January 6th demands this unprecedented decision."

Cheney defended Pelosi's decision to reject Jordan and Banks, telling reporters "I agree with what the Speaker has done."

"At every opportunity, the minority leader has attempted to prevent the American people from understanding what happened to block this investigation," Cheney said.

With Reps Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger on board Speaker Pelosi has herself a bipartisan committee to investigate the whole truth of January 6th, 2021.

There’s nothing bi partisan about this biased partisan star chamber witch hunt.  Whatever ts findings, red America will reject them out of hand because no Republicans appointed by Republicans are on the committee.  No one here gives a darn what they have to say.

Let's hope they go straight at Trump's role in that thing. Cut to the chase.

Well, that was predictable. Kinzinger makes 9 of the planned 18 seats.

The Members of the Committee are:
  • Chair Bennie Thompson: Chair of Homeland Security Committee
  • Chair Zoe Lofgren: Chair of Committee on House Administration
  • Chair Adam Schiff: Chair of House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence
  • Rep. Pete Aguilar, House Administration and Appropriations Committees
  • Rep. Liz Cheney, Armed Services Committee
  • Rep. Stephanie Murphy, Armed Services Committee
  • Rep. Jamie Raskin, Oversight and Judiciary Committees
  • Rep. Elaine Luria, Navy veteran, Armed Services and Homeland Security Committees

I say she modifies it to 13 and gets started...

that's cool, but it's still going to be very difficult to find any more defenders of the constitution among trump's coalition of domestic terrorists, white supremacists, and religious wackos in the house.

Nancy's circus, her handpicked clowns.

She best get a move on, because after the midterms she won't be Speaker anymore.

Hand picked clowns

The only thing Jim Jordan is missing is the big red nose.  If he keeps up the boozing, he'll have that, too.  Then his clown outfit will be complete.

After the midterms there will be fewer Republicans in the House.

Yeah, including the disgraced Adam Schiff tells you exactly what kind of commission this will be. It's as if Pelosi is trying to discredit it  as partisan political hackery before it even starts.

I'm surprised she didn't name the guy who was "just friends" with the Chinese spy.

Right, you are anti-insurrection now. How quickly you flip-flop. Just last year you were bragging how you were going to attack any cop who tried to arrest  BLM insurrectionists. Now you are Mr. Law and Order, huh?

rotesting for rights and justice is one thing.

Sure, sure.  Trying to burn down courthouses and attacking police officers in the names of "rights and justice."

The things progressives tell themselves .....

Psst... The people who attacked Congress thought they were doing it for rights and justice too.   It's not some secret cheat code that lets you engage in insurrection.

So, you'd be a Tory during the American Revolution?

And no, the people who attacked on Jan. 6th were suckers for the grift and possessed no logical thought.  'Secret cheat code'?  Yeah.  The cheat lie.

Right... Now you are equating the insurrectionists who attacked police and government buildings with the revolutionaries. You would have fit right in with the confederates.

the people who attacked on Jan. 6th were suckers for the grift and possessed no logical thought

Lol.. That's what the mobs attacking police officers last summer displayed? Logical thought?

You know these are the same dummies who believe thousands of unarmed black people are murdered by cops each year, right?  It's amazing how little liberals know about themselves,. They riot over made up claims like "hands up, don't shoot" and then attack right wingers as being uninformed .  I don't know if if's sad or funny.

Which addressed the failures of the security systems and miscommunications between the various factions and basically blamed the Capital Police.

It also recognized the distinct possibility of revisiting the issue later since all of the 500 charged so far have not completed their cases.  The House is looking for a more complete picture.

The review is the first congressional report stemming from Jan. 6, and comes nearly two weeks after   Republicans in the Senate voted   to kill a measure to create an independent commission to study all the circumstances surrounding the Capitol attack.

Among the handful of GOP senators who voted in support of a Jan. 6 commission was Rob Portman of Ohio, the ranking member of the Homeland Security Committee. Portman’s Republican counterpart on the Rules Committee,   Missouri Sen. Roy Blunt , opposed the proposal, arguing that it was “too early” to create an independent commission. Blunt insisted that members of Congress should wait for the Senate committees to release the findings and recommendations resulting from their bipartisan probe before moving to create a separate panel.

In a statement Tuesday, Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., who co-authored   the House bill   to create a Jan. 6 commission, said that “although this report provides new insight into the many intelligence failures, miscommunications, and security lapses on January 6, it is clear a full and detailed accounting of that day — including influencing factors — is still needed.”

“I hope the Senate will reconsider its inaction on my legislation to create an independent, bipartisan commission to investigate the attack,” Thompson, who serves as chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, continued. “But if no progress is made soon,” he said, he thinks the Democratic-led House of Representatives “should stand up a bipartisan investigation that is insulated from the political wrangling that has often hamstrung prior multi-committee or select committee investigations.”

Senate report on Jan. 6 attack finds Capitol Police, intelligence agencies failed to relay threat posed by pro-Trump rioters (yahoo.com)

There were 4 bipartisan Benghazi reports and  6 more GOP only Benghazi reports.

What's the fuss?  What are people afraid of? A more complete picture?

I don't believe he is on the commission. But nice deflection!

After the midterms there will be fewer Republicans in the House.

Doubtful at best, highly unlikely to be a Democratic-majority House after the midterms. All it takes is a handful of seats!

History is dead set against Dems maintaining their majority, and they did lose seats while Biden won, so look for more of the same!

When did history register?

When one looks at past midterms, especially from 1950 on, one finds the President's party often loses seats.

If Democrats lost seats while Biden was winning handily, it damn sure ain't much of a stretch to assume they will fare worse in the midterms than they did in 2020.

Republicans should be lining up, begging to be on this commission in order to free themselves from the ultimate, unavoidable downward spiral of 'the MAGA' and it's foreign asset currently whining on the golf course.

But they aren't and there must be one reason for that.  The money.  The dirty money Trump brought and they bought.  GOP figures it can weather the storm of MAGA flags beating police officers, but to explain dirty foreign money finding its way into their coffers is that bridge to far.

Ashli Babbitt is a central figure in the January 6th riots.

No she isn't, Mike Pence and Nancy Pelosi were the targets.  Ashli is being exploited for political partisan BS.

Her shooting death, issued by a Capitol Police officer that has not been formally recognized or charged, was the only provable “ homicide ” at the event.

So you admit that the other 7 deaths were probably homicide but "not provable"?

The decision to shoot Ashli Babbitt has been chalked up as a “ split second ” decision; but one can see from the video that the man held aloft his gun for at least fifteen seconds before shooting.

One can also see that he repeatedly shouted warnings and yet she kept coming.

Police officers who stood behind Babbitt did nothing to prevent her from attempting to climb into the restricted area.

They were exhausted, stripped of most of their gear and offered "safe passage" if they stepped aside after a tense standoff.

They are also quite young by my standards.  They chose their own survival in a very tough spot. Had they waited 45 seconds more

reinforcements were coming up the staircase. They were also the only people to try to render first aid to Ashli.

It is undeniable that Babbitt should not have proceeded to go into the area.

Agreed, finally.

However, this does not justify the shooting death, nor does it resolve questions about how the incident developed or concluded.

Sorry to disagree Kyle but your a dumb MFucker who wasn't there, just another muck raking arm chair quarterback with zero legal experience.

The Biden Department of Justice has announced the officer will not be charged for the shooting.

So did the Trump Administration, so is Kyle stupid or what?

Anyone else question why so many white Capitol Police officers refused to draw their weapons on the overwhelmingly white rioters?

Kyle doesn't.

He's white, he knows why.

CRT.  Tribes stick together even in the face of unconscionable acts against ones own country.
