Donald Trump will run for president in 2024, according to his former press secretary Sean Spicer.

The apparent confirmation comes after Trump has previously teased another campaign for a second term after he lost the 2020 election to President Joe Biden.

'He's in,' Spicer told Washington Examiner during an interview of his upcoming book Radical Nation: Joe Biden and Kamala Harris's Dangerous Plan for America.

Trump has yet to officially confirm whether he will run again - but has been said to have recently met with his former chief-of-staff Mark Meadows and former cabinet officials at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

Spicer told the Washington Examiner that Trump has been encouraged to run again because of his displeasure with the Biden administration's stances - such as the reversals of his policies on immigration.

Donald Trump will run for president in 2024, according to former press secretary Sean Spicer

The apparent confirmation comes after Trump has previously teased another campaign for a second term

He said Trump has $102 million in apparent campaign funds and has worked to lose weight and keep his post-presidential approval ratings high ahead of his potential third run for president.

John McLaughlin, a Trump pollster, told the outlet that 'the more Biden fails, the better President Trump looks.'

Spicer added that Trump plans to be a 'kingmaker' during the 2022 midterm elections - and has already started backing a number of candidates ahead of those races.

He has previously said he was '100 percent' considering another run for president but would wait until after the midterms to make a final decision, The Sun reported.

Trump will be 78 in 2024, and would be the oldest person ever elected president if he won.

The current oldest person to win a presidential election is incumbent Biden, who was 77 when he won in 2020. He would be 81 if he ran and won in 2024.

However, a recent poll from Quinnipiac University reveals most Americans believe Trump running for president again would be bad for the country, Newsweek noted.

The poll found that 60 percent of Americans agreed with the statement that "it would be bad for the country" while just 30 percent disagreed with the stance.

Pollsters noted that the divide fell along party lines, with 95 percent of Democrats thinking it would be bad and 73 percent of Republican thinking it would be good.

In the 2020 election, Biden won 306 electoral college votes to Trump's 232.

Donald Trump is pictured speaking during a rally protesting the electoral college certification of Joe Biden as President in Washington before the deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol on January 6

Federal Election Commission data shows Trump won 46.86% of the popular vote with 74,216,154. Biden won 51.31% of the vote with 81,268,924.

Even after numerous recounts and elections audits called for by Republicans, President Joe Biden clearly won the 2020 presidential election.

A flurry of lawsuits filed by Trump and those loyal to him after the November election have also been thrown out of courts with claims they lacked merit.

Election officials nationwide, as well as security experts, have repeatedly noted that there is no proof of widespread election fraud.

Trump and his supporters have continued to allege without evidence that he lost the election because of widespread voter fraud.

It is possible of course that intervening events may prevent him from running for president again in 2-3 years . But the reality is that threatening to run , or suggesting he will run is no different than actually running when you hold political rallies and constantly seek out media interviews. To the public he is doing the same things now that a candidate would do, although few candidates start the campaign three and a half years before the election.

When its all said and done at least 9 years of our lives will have been taken up with endless Donald Trump self promoting nonsense and insanity.

That is way too high a price for sporadic mindless entertainment at his expense.

There are campaign finance and other election rules that apply once a candidate formally declares they are running for office.  He’s going to keep himself in the news and do public appearances and make hints, but no way he announces before mid November next year.  Especially if he’s opting out.  He’d lose all his king making influence in primaries and the 2022 election itself.  If he is running Jan 2023 would be the earliest he’d declare it formally.

You dont have to be a candidate to be a kingmaker, you just have to be the person that the voters in your party listen to.

What Trump is doing is keeping the faithful happy, but more importantly, to keep Trumpism alive. He, and the rest of the Republicans, will continue to point out Biden's flubs and fuckups which are occurring with astounding regularity. Trump has no chance to win another national election and the right wing power brokers know this. There will be a growing urgency to nominate an electable candidate in 2024, especially when the Republicans take back the House and Senate next year.

So basically all republicans are doing is pointing fingers and yelling hair on fire at the opposition...Just for the next election.

Nice job if one can get it. Shame though really, that none of them seem to be interested in actually doing their jobs, you know, legislating.

hopefully they pick somebody that adheres to trump’s America first agenda rather than the old, worn out establishment gop type of candidate (romney, mccain, bush etc.) because that candidate will lose.

Pretty sure Trump has burned all the bridges behind him. Sure, he has a core of faithful followers, but he has thrown too many others under the bus. Most people just do not trust him. Any run for the White House by Trump in 2024 will be nothing more than a vanity fest exercise in futility!

As important as passing new laws is preventing poor laws from being passed.  It's actually much more important, IMO.

BTW, I'm committed to this idea no matter who's in office.  Over the last 60 years or so, the most peaceful and prosperous times have been those where we are in a state of 'gridlock'.

That will depend entirely upon who the opposition is.

Biden is almost surely not going to run for re-election, and the Democrats don't have a promising successor emerging yet.

An argument for inaction (gridlock) is not a positive statement that action is not occurring or essentially required! That is, from your perspective that all is good during gridlock does not signify that everybody is happy, pleased, content, or satiated.

It was not intended as such.  It communicates a pragmatic sense of cynism based on half a century of laws that have rarely ever been helpful.

that action is not occurring or essentially required!

It is not required.  If no new law was passed for the next 2 years, the US would survive and prosper.  Americans who believe they will somehow prosper with some sort of government intervention have failed to prosper through 60+ years of it.

That is, from your perspective that all is good during gridlock does not signify that everybody is happy, pleased, content, or satiated.

There are 330 million Americans.  There will never, ever, ever be any single day where everybody is happy, pleased content or satiated.

Gridlock has served this country beautifully for many years.  It keeps raving nutters from running things completely off the rails.

Imagine an unfettered Trump, and the ridiculous nonsense that could have occurred.

But. That's. One. Man's (group). Opinion. These reside with opiners. Gridlock is not a 'vehicle' that speeds this country dynamically ahead (anywhere). In Donald Trump's case, let's just say gridlock was a tool deployed to make sense from having an obscene public figure over us. Donald the aberration.

No.  But of course neither is government.  Gridlock simply releases the brakes and allows Americans themselves to speed this country dynamically ahead.

There it is in stark relief: Donald Trump feels confident his 'followers' have put enough safeguards (riggings) in place for him to enter the political arena again and sit at the top of the world. Enough about that fool!

The schema is to have McCarthy as Speaker, Mitch as Majority Leader, and "Dumbass Strongman" mounted in the White House. And, lest we forget, more 'matching' red-states created in furtherance of the takeover.

Stratagem:  White Male Dominance on 'roids again. All that remains is this:

What are "the people" going to do about it?  It's time to act.

It comes down to either we as a nation will be a Conservative nation or 'Else' in some conservatives eyes. With them there is no longer any middle ground. Be a domineering, self-deluded group of takers of the rights and privileges of this country's diversified citizens or fight to win with a sustained and 'hotter' hell than some conservatives stoke!
