Donald Trump told a Christian TV network that nobody had done more for 'Christianity or for evangelicals or for religion itself' than him
Donald Trump said Joe Biden was doing "destructive" things to religion in an interview with FlashPoint on The Victory Channel, a Christian TV network.

Former President Donald Trump claimed that he did more for religion than anybody else while he was president.

"Nobody has done more for Christianity or for evangelicals or for religion itself than I have," Trump said in an interview on the show FlashPoint on The Victory Channel, a Christian TV network.

-Right Wing Watch (@RightWingWatch) October 1, 2021

He referenced "getting rid of the Johnson Amendment" which he said was a "very bad thing."

The Johnson Amendment is a provision to the US tax code which prohibits non-profit organizations from endorsing or opposing political candidates, or risk losing their tax-exempt status.

In 2017 Trump signed an executive order to ease the rules, arguing that it restricted church's free speech rights. Some experts said that the order was mostly symbolic.

Trump also mentioned the Mexico City policy, which blocks federal funding for foreign non-governmental organizations that make referrals for abortion or discuss abortion as an option.

The policy which was first introduced in 1973 and has since been regularly rescinded by Democrat presidents and reinstated by Republican ones.

To form, Trump reinstated the policy while in office, and President Joe Biden rescinded it in January.

In the interview on FlashPoint, Trump also claimed that Biden and the Democrats had done "destructive" things to religion.

"I said that Biden was going to be bad, he's turned out to be far worse than anybody ever thought. You talk about abortion, you talk about all of the subjects," Trump said.

"He's terrible on these subjects, and he lied. And just like they cheated on the election, the election was rigged, just like that happened they also cheated very much on what they really think of organized religion and religion and frankly Christianity."

It's not clear what Trump meant by saying that the Biden administration cheated on organized religion.

He also mentioned the widely disproved claims that the 2020 election was fraudulent.

Trump went on to say that he has done more for Israel than anyone else, and complained that he did not get enough credit for it from Jewish people.

"Also, nobody has done so much for Israel as I have, as you know. With Jerusalem and frankly ending the Iran nuclear deal which is a disaster and all of the other things I've done for Israel," Trump said.

"And by the way in the evangelical community I mean I actually get, I probably get more credit for that than I do with Jewish people."

"Nobody's done what I've done and I'm very happy to do it."

Trump has previously griped about Catholics and Jews who did not vote for him, despite all he claimed to have done for their respective communities.

Will someone please put this fool in a straight jacket and deposit his silly behind in the nearest nut house.

It is funny, is it not, that Trump seems to operate on a very simple 'nobody has done/seen' model:

Nobody has done [insert bullshit here] before better than him.

Nobody has seen anything like this

Nobody else has done this

Nobody could do this

This narcissist is beyond obnoxious.

Lol, I LOVE this. Donald Trump is Christianity personified, he is dead on with this message.

He is an abusive asshole who never delivers on any promises, always asks for more from his followers and chastises them when they can’t/don’t deliver, constantly babbles about how awesome he is and how he has never done a wrong thing ever (it’s always someone else), knows everything, is the best at everything(could make Lebron his bitch but doesn’t because that is how nice he is), and fuck you if you don’t buy into this. I mean, isn’t that the Judeo-Christian god as a person?

Trump is giving interviews three or four times a week now.

When will we reach the point when he is "back"?

He told an interviewer today that he is not worried about Ron DeSantis as 2024 competition. Why would he be? If De Santis runs against Trump,  Trump will destroy DeSantis with lies, nonsense and fake news the same way he destroyed the 15 opponents he had in the Republican Party in 2016.  De Santis shouldnt even bother.

Yep, that is Trump's go-to weapon.  But keep in mind that Trump and DeSantis have been thick as thieves for a while now.  I would imagine that they both have truer than not damaging info on each other.

Trump was unable to recite from memory even ONE bible verse. But he thinks he helped? He showed Christians exactly what NOT to act like.

trmp is no Christian and even he knows it. Why do you think he became a Republican? Because the Christians who follow him are the same people who give all their money to people like Kenneth Copeland. The white evangelicals in this country harbored resentment towards Obama and his supposed Muslim religion. Those people never accepted that he was a Christian.

Then comes trmp spouting the things they've been wanting to say and he gives them carte blanche to do just that. No wonder they bought his schtick.

I personally would like to know which church trmp regularly tithes to and how many abortions he's paid for

I personally would like to know which church trump regularly tithes to and how many abortions he's paid for.

From a 2019 Huffpost article:

And as Trump’s former pastor noted, in any case, the president can’t exactly speak with much authority on the subject.

Pastor David Lewicki responded to Trump’s tweet on Tuesday morning, explaining how he served as a pastor at New York City’s Marble Collegiate Church for about five years in the mid-aughts.

Despite being on the member rolls, Trump never showed. Not to Bible study ― and not even to a service, according to Lewicki.

“I assure you, he had the ‘option’ to come to Bible study. He never ‘opted’ in,” Lewicki wrote. “Nor did he ever actually enter the church doors. Not one time.”

The pastor then followed up with a pointed quote attributed to Irish political figure Edmund Burke: “Hypocrisy can afford to be magnificent in its promises, for never intending to go beyond promise, it costs nothing.”

At one point, the president did attend Marble. The Trump family migrated to the Manhattan church from a Presbyterian establishment near their home in Queens during the 1960s, when Marble was led by the Rev. Norman Vincent Peale. The president’s father was a particular fan of Peale, a famous minister who authored The Power of Positive Thinking. (Peale’s son, though,  is no fan of Trump .)

On the campaign trail, Trump spoke about his religious upbringing and even name-checked Marble, where he married his first wife.

In a rare move, though, the church issued a statement clarifying that Trump was not an “active” member.

After his tweet received a bit more attention than expected, Lewicki told HuffPost that he just meant to point out the president’s religious track record ― or lack thereof.

“He was not an active and visible member of the church, no,” the pastor confirmed.

Had he tithed to either one of the above mentioned churches, I doubt they would have been so vocal regarding his attendance record.  As for the second part of your comment, a man known for paying off mutiple women with whom he had multiple affairs, I doubt we will ever know the extent of whether or not those affairs resulted in egg fertilization.  The chance that at least a few of them did, is astronomically high.

It's not clear what Trump meant by saying that the Biden administration cheated on organized religion.

Well obviously it was when the Biden administration was caught sleeping with Stormy Islam while his third wife Malignant Christianity was home raising their newborn doctrine but was found out when the scheme to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to keep Stormy Islam quiet was exposed...
