Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said on Sunday that he has not made a final decision on whether he will vote to confirm President Biden 's Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson.
CBS's "Face the Nation" host Margaret Brennan asked McConnell how he was leaning with regards to Jackson's nomination, noting that he had previously voted against her for a previous appointment. While he has praised Jackson's credentials, McConnell has so far remained coy as to how he will vote.
"We had a very good conversation in my office and I asked her, you know — typically these Supreme Court nominees of both parties have never answered any of the questions. What they typically say is that something might come before me and I don't want to prejudge how I might actually vote," McConnell said.
McConnell noted how Supreme Court Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer , who Jackson would replace if confirmed, have previously spoken out against court-packing. McConnell said he asked Jackson about her stance on adding to the number of Supreme Court justices.
"She wouldn't do that. So in the meantime, the committee will ask her all the tough questions. I haven't made a final decision as to how I'm going to vote," he added.
"I'm gonna listen to the evidence, I'm gonna listen to the hearings, and by the way she'll be treated much better than Democrats have typically treated Republican nominees like Clarence Thomas and Brett Kavanaugh ," said McConnell. "It'll be a respectful, deep dive into her record which I think is entirely appropriate for a lifetime appointment."

Jackson will also make an opening statement to the panel at the end of that day's hearing.

... as she should be. both of those activist judges have unresolved sexual predatory issues in their backgrounds.
A lie
to her token husband?
Do you see Judge Jackson's nomination as a "token nomination"?

Is that why 52% of Black American males have never been married?
uh, when did she become white, or even a teabag? not my logic that's faulty...
Totally refuted in both cases.
Did you hear Sen Ted Cruz today?
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is vowing that the confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson will be different than the hearings for Justice Brett Kavanaugh .
During Jackson’s confirmation hearing on Monday, Cruz said, “Most of the members of this committee remember the confirmation hearing of Brett Kavanaugh. One of the lowest moments in the history of this committee. Where Democrats on this committee sat on allegations, didn’t refer them to the FBI, didn’t ask for investigations, hid them and then leaked them against the wishes of the complainant.”
“And we began a circus that featured Spartacus moments, featured such nuts as Michael Avenatti whom CNN breathlessly for some months described as a possible Democratic presidential candidate that’s before presumably he became a felon in recent months,” he continued.
Finally, Cruz said, “Judge Jackson, I can assure you your hearing will feature none of that disgraceful behavior. No one is going to inquire into your teenage dating habits. No one is going to ask you with mock severity, do you like beer?”
However, he asserted that hearing will also not be “non-substantive” or “non-vigorous.
Any tough question will be labelled as such. You don't have to go far to see the vicious tactics.
On the other hand, it was notable that the White House did not announce good wishes for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas at the top of the regular press briefing today. Psaki had to be asked about it for comment.
You might be better off just asking for Republicans to please get over that time the media helped run an information operation in which they falsely accused someone of being a serial gang rapist and tried to destroy his life for political purposes.
that's because his pants are too small to fit her ...
of course McConnell will handle it more appropriately than the Democrats did Kavanaugh. It would be impossible not to.
And Republicans won't engage in an insurrection when she is confirmed, like Democrats did after Kavanugh's confirmation.
Funny how the Democrats, DOJ, and FBI never pursued that insurrection the way they are the Jan 6th riot.
Seems if it is leftist insurrectionists they get a pass; or maybe they just have more attached to their free speech rights?
that comment reeks of false equivalency.
Has she been accused of rape? If not, you are comparing apples to oranges.
insurrection
One of the key differences between Republicans and democrats.
No worries, Vic, Mitch "pendulum" McConnell will take care of it as he did before, and Joe Manchin will provide the Republicans with their majority anyway.
You don't think she will be confirmed?
Actually, I think it would be a costly mistake for the Republicans to not accept her. November is approaching and there could be a lot of resentment if she's turned down. There will still be a 6 to 3 conservative majority and it's not likely for the majority to reverse for a long time, unless the court gets packed by Biden, but somehow I don't think that's going to happen.
I think she gets confirmed in the same partisan manner as the last few.
I’m just excited that a former public defender has been nominated. I hope it will be refreshing to have someone on the court who actually has experience caring about, and advocating for, the rights of people in the criminal justice system.
But...is it true she has gone soft on childhood sex offenders?
Let's follow it live.
How rich. Durbin is claiming court packing is a strange "fascination" of Republicans.
It's Democrats who actually want to pack the Supreme Court.
Dick Durbin is the Adam Schiff of the Senate. Corrupt to the core.
I'll go along with that.
The Senate has begun its important constitutional role of ‘advice & consent’ for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to serve on the Supreme Court.

"If you are Hispanic or African American and you dare depart from Democrats' political orthodoxy, they will crush you, they will attack you, they will slander you, they will filibuster you. So this is not about race. It is however about issues and substance."
No wonder women and minorities abhor the gop...
No, they aren't buying the BS anymore.
Tell LBJ it's over.
Tell David Duke he's unwelcome in the gop first.
Duke, just like George Wallace, Strom Thurmond and Rev Farrakhan can join any political party they want.
I've departed from what you call the political orthodoxy many times and I can't for the life of me remember being attacked or slandered although I'm not black or Hispanic, just your run of the mill redman. Perhaps that's a myth that Cancun Cruz believes in along with a lot of righties on NT..
I don't recall. Give us an example.
Too bad, try harder.
Just what I thought.

Ive never seen you express an opinion that isn't orthodox democratic. Someday maybe.
Said the blind man.
Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Dick Durbin is "hiding" records from Ketanji Brown Jackson's time as vice chair of the Sentencing Commission, where she championed leniency for child predators, says Michael Davis, former chief counsel for the committee.
"Judge Jackson's history of sentencing below guidelines, particularly in cases involving child exploitation, raises legitimate questions about her views on penalties for these crimes," Grassley said. "This is exactly why I asked for her Sentencing Commission records — the same types of records the committee traditionally reviews when vetting a Supreme Court nominee."
Lessening sentencing for child pornography offenders because child porn is more widely available and in high volumes versus offenders getting it through the mail is not a compelling argument.
Because it's more available, sentencing should be just as harsh, if not more.
Democrats can't understand the relationship between incarceration and public safety. I'll never forget the New York Times lament that crime is down, yet incarceration is high.
They just don't get it.
It's painfully obvious that it isn't HIM that doesn't get it.
Having the highest in incarceration rate in the developed world is a pretty simple concept. It’s no surprise that Republicans either can’t grasp that or look at that as a positive.
A recreation rate?
What does that mean? Walks in the park?
Typos happen.
We do have great parks.
"Reminder: Democrats—including Joe Biden—happily filibustered Judge Janice Rogers Brown."...Sen Ted Cruz

Here comes Sen Grassley with some real questions on "rights."
Grassley is so old he has to read every word of his questioning off a piece of paper.
But unlike Biden, he still knows the meaning!
"One piece of misinformation I hope we don’t hear from Dems today: the claim Judge Jackson followed “probation” guidelines in sentencing child porn offenders. There are no probation guidelines. Probation advice is private. Not uniform. Not available to public"....Sen Josh Hawley
Republicans react to Ketanji Brown Jackson and the horror of 6-3 remaining 6-3.
Oh a cartoon!
It must be frustrating for anyone with monumental education to be constantly failing to conquer a high school graduate.
Jackson declines to weigh in on expanding the court. What say you?
As if you have never posted one ... @!@
You are a high school graduate? Papers please!
“You are a high school graduate? Papers please!”
Would explain the relentless disdain for higher education.
Why do I feel like Volodymyr Zelensky?
Don't worry, you're no Volodymyr Zelensky.
And you're no Jack Kennedy!
Uh, I didn't refer to myself as such so your point is ?
There wasn't any point other than you were beginning to sound like Lloyd Bentsen.
No idea, your fantasies are yours to deal with ... are you the +X in the labyrinth of types and torsos?
Very odd. She says being a looker is a major part of the problem and victimizing of children for their entire lives and yet, argues that because child porn is more available and in high volumes, that sentencing is outdated and too harsh.
"Grassley just noted that Judge Jackson previously refused to answer whether she supported the "living constitution" model (after answering that question as a district judge).".....Jonathan Turley
Strange, isn't it?
"Judge Jackson used the COVID-19 pandemic as justification to release a fentanyl drug dealer, a bank robber addicted to heroin, and a convict who murdered a U.S. Marshall back onto the streets."....Sen Marsha Blackburn
All upstanding citizens who are sure never to harm anyone again.
Typical Democrat.
Sen. Ted Cruz: "Will you protect the rights of Americans to speak, to say unpopular ideas, to say ideas that the government doesn't want you to say, that you nonetheless have a right to say? Will you protect freedom or restrict it?"

We'll wait!
"They have implied you were solely nominated due to your race...Your nomination is not about filling a quota... It is about time that we have a highly qualified, highly accomplished Black woman serving on the Supreme Court," Sen. Hirono says of Judge Jackson in opening remarks.
They didn't have to imply anything. Joe Biden said it!
No shit. And Hirono is sucking up and basically said the same thing Biden did LOL
They call her crazy Mazie
Sen. Graham is teaching Ketanji Brown Jackson what Judge Barrett went through on "religion."
Judge Jackson just told Sen. Graham that she is reluctant to discuss her religious views.
I am sure she is.
Only Republican nominees should be forced to answer questions on their religious views according to the gospel of Leftist Dogma.
Sen Cornyn's got her now!
Here's crazy Sheldon.
We never did get to find out why she called George W a war criminal!
Bloviate away…another party line vote awaits. Bottom line, she will and should be confirmed.
I believe she will be confirmed, but after what Sen Cruz has vigorously exposed, it will be a minor victory in the coming disaster for the dems.
“…after what Sen Cruz has vigorously exposed, it will be a minor victory in the coming disaster for the dems.”
Thus confirming what we all know…everything that traditionally happens within the beltway and now occurs nationwide is purely partisan.
So let each side count on one hand their ‘victories’ every two years while we collectively, eventually, detrimentally slide into the abyss that is apathy.
There are no winners there.
You can call it that, but the American people should know exactly what our elite leaders & judges believe in.
Knowing what's in their wallets would be a short cut.
Corruption pales in comparison to what ideology has wrought.
I have your comments as a prime example.
Perhaps, but then there are a multitude of ideologies including your own which by any honest analysis do not get a pass. Yours as much as mine spoils the view. I "hold this truth to be self evident".
"No Freed, I do not love bullets any more than you do; I go where they are because it is my duty, and I do not expect to survive the war."....Gen J.E.B. Stuart to his bugler, private George Freed, who had said to him "General, I believe you love bullets." (May 11, 1864) Stuart was killed the next day at the battle of Yellow Tavern.
The story of the day is Sen Ted Cruz exposing exactly what Ketanji Brown Jackson's views are.
"Do you agree... that babies are racist?"
Sen. Ted Cruz asked Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson as to whether she agrees with the book, "Antiracist Baby" by the radical racist Dr. Ibrim X. Kendi, which happens to be in the library at a school on whose board she sits.
Jackson hasnt ruled on CRT , or used it in her rulings, so what she thinks of it is irrelevant.
Anti-racism is in general a very good thing, our children should be taught to oppose racism from an early age. The exact methods for how to do that may be up for discussion.
“Anti-racism is in general a very good thing…”
Not in general, racism in any form must be in any form, at all times, and in all ways brought to the table, lest it continue to be marginalized.
If there is any disagreement in how that is represented, then let all parties be part of the discussion. Until that happens, those willing to talk around it rather than to it will continue to drive the narrative and nothing will change.
She is a believer.
Anti-racism is in general a very good thing, our children should be taught to oppose racism from an early age. The exact methods for how to do that may be up for discussion.
You don't fight racism with more racism.
Cancun Ted looked the fool when we brought out the coloring books re CRT.
Her response to Cancun Ted was perfect.
So you're Carnac now ?
Just a man with a pin chasing big balloons.
Or just a Lawnchair Larry riding them.
moscow mitch made up his mind when lincoln was elected.
Odd day, watching R senators trying to turn a silk purse into a pig's ear was surreal.
