Your parent's Democratic Party is dead
Today’s Democratic Party prioritizes illegal entry into the USA while abandoning the rule of law. They fight for the suspected and convicted criminals while ignoring the victims. Often you will hear Democrats refer to rural America with contempt, labeling them as clinging to their guns and their religion while simultaneously lumping them together as uneducated. Rarely do you here them talk about "middle America" nor express a genuine understanding of what life is like outside of New York,...

The democrat party is nothing like it once was.  It is now an elitist collection of bi coastal secular progressives appealing to an ever radicalized further left than ever urban fringe.  They have lost middle America and the working class and are about to lose Hispanic and African American support too.

Your parent's Democratic Party is dead

It is difficult to find an area of growth for Democrats today

Long gone is the Democratic Party of your parents’ generation. They have morphed and contorted themselves into a political party no longer relatable or recognizable to most of America.

Today’s Democratic Party embraces the extreme, rewards the radical, shuns the sensible, and caters to the contemptible.

FORMER STRIPPER RUNNING FOR CONGRESS SAYS ‘CLIMATE EMERGENCY’ PARTIALLY PROMPTED DECISION TO GET AN ABORTION

Not too long ago there were Democrats who were concerned about the finances of the country. They were affectionately referred to as "Blue Dog Democrats" who were worried about deficits and debt. There is no place for them in today’s Democratic Party. President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris just introduce the largest budget ever with the largest tax increase ever requested.  There very few "Blue Dogs" in Congress, and they are on their way to extinction.

Leftist policies have become so extreme, even traditional liberals no longer recognize today’s Democratic party. With never ending mask mandates, mandatory vaccinations, and control of individual self-determination, liberalism has been abandoned.

In the case of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) they have altered their liberal approach to free speech for everyone, no matter what they say. Now the ACLU that first considers if it is an assistance to the progressives. They even went so far as to justify mask mandates, stating, "Far from compromising civil liberties, vaccine mandates actually further them." Really?

Ira Glasser, the outspoken former ACLU Executive Director in January 2022 told Bill Maher, ""The ACLU has become … more of a political partisan, what they call ‘progressive’ organization."

Rarely do you here them talk about "middle America" nor express a genuine understanding of what life is like outside of New York, Washington, and San Francisco.

Bill Hogseth, chair of the Dunn County Democratic Party in Wisconsin, in 2020 wrote in Politico, "The pain and struggle in my community is real, yet rural people do not feel it is taken seriously by the Democratic Party. My fear is that Democrats will continue to blame rural voters for the red-sea electoral map and dismiss these voters as backward."

Democrats are losing blue collar workers, parents, young voters, Hispanics, etc. It is difficult to find an area of growth for Democrats today.

It is policy that is repelling the voters. Inflation, energy, foreign policy, immigration, taxes, crime, and extreme positions on mask mandates, gender, and education all are driving people away from the Democratic Party.

GREENSBORO, USA - APRIL 14: US President Joe Biden delivering remarks on his Administrationâs efforts to make more in America, rebuild our supply chains here at home, and bring down costs for the American people as part of Building a Better America in Greensboro, NC, on April 14, 2022. Beyond the policy positions, they also lack dynamic leadership. Clinton and Obama were charismatic personalities that brought people into the party. Not anymore.

Joe Biden was supposed to be a uniter, a man with a plan, and a seasoned senator who could get things done in Congress. None of those turned out to be true.  Combined with his poor communication skills, and a Vice President who speaks incoherently, there is not much hope for the Democratic Party’s future. They have failed to build a bench of upcoming leaders that relates to anyone outside New York and San Francisco.

With policy that lurched to the far left and leadership that is aging out, today’s Democratic Party is dead. While the leaders of the Democratic Party wonder out loud, "Why don’t they like us more," most Americans understand today’s party is no longer offers them a home.

Looks like the majority of Democrats are not wanting to see Biden run again. Who does that leave them?

Historically, the best presidential candidates are:

  1. Incumbents (Obama, GWB, Clinton, Reagan, Nixon, LBJ, Ike, etc)
  2. VPs - preferably of two term presidents (Biden, GHWB, Nixon, 13 others)
  3. Governors/former Governors (GWB, Clinton, Reagan, Carter)
  4. Senators - although that really doesn't happen very often.  Before Obama we have to go all the way back to 1960 with Kennedy.

So if the incumbent doesn't run (too old and feeble) and the VP is not viable (and she isn't), my guess is you're looking for a Democratic governor from a large-medium sized state, preferably with a bit of a centrist background who can run well in enemy territory.

Gavin Newsome has the hair, but could probably only beat Trump in a national election.

Inslee would never be able to overcome the never-ending shenanigans in Seattle.

Roy Cooper of NC looks interesting, as does Andy Beshear of KY.

Supposedly Biden told Obama that he intends to run in 2024. It seems that Obama doesn't like the idea.

Fair enough.

I'm just curious as to which Democrat is going to step up.  Unless Trump gets the Republican nomination, I don't see any way Biden can win....and frankly I'm not sure he could beat Trump again the way things are going.

But you look for the next Bill Clinton or Barack Obama and I just don't see anybody.

This is something I've been saying for years and is obvious to anyone with a smidgen of intelligence and an education in American political history. Clearly the old Conservative Democratic party of our parents is long dead, there is nothing in the current liberal progressive Democratic party that resembles the old party other than the word "Democratic". The same is true of the previously liberal Republican party.

In 1908, Republican presidential candidate William Howard Taft stated that "the Republican party has always been in favor of a liberal construction of the Constitution to maintain the national power" . Could you imagine any Republican today saying the same?

"The region was once referred to as the  Solid South , due to its large consistent support for Democrats in all elective offices from 1877 to 1964. As a result, its Congressmen gained seniority across many terms, thus enabling them to control many  Congressional committees . Following the passage of the  Civil Rights Act of 1964  and  Voting Rights Act of 1965 , Southern states became more reliably Republican in presidential politics, while Northeastern states became more reliably Democratic. Studies show that some Southern whites during the 1960s shifted to the Republican Party, in part due to racial conservatism. Majority support for the Democratic Party amongst Southern whites first fell away at the presidential level, and several decades later at the state and local levels.  Both parties are competitive in a handful of Southern states, known as  swing states ."

"After the Civil Rights act of 1964 and The Voting Rights Act of 1965 were passed in Congress, only a small element resisted, led by Democratic governors   Lester Maddox   of Georgia, and especially   George Wallace   of Alabama. These   populist   governors appealed to a less-educated, working-class electorate, that favored the Democratic Party, but also supported segregation. After the   Brown v. Board of Education   Supreme Court   case that outlawed segregation in schools in 1954, integration caused enormous controversy in the white South. For this reason, compliance was very slow and was the subject of violent resistance in some areas.

The Democratic Party no longer acted as the champion of segregation. Newly-enfranchised African American voters began supporting Democratic candidates at the 80-90-percent levels, producing Democratic leaders such as   Julian Bond   and   John Lewis   of Georgia, and   Barbara Jordan   of Texas.

Many white southerners switched to the Republican Party during the 1960s , some for reasons unrelated to race. The majority of white southerners shared   conservative   positions on taxes, moral values, and national security. The Democratic Party had increasingly liberal positions rejected by these voters .   In addition, the younger generations, who were politically conservative but wealthier and less attached to the Democratic Party, replaced the older generations who remained loyal to the party . The shift to the Republican Party took place slowly and gradually over almost a century."

I didn't say people were harmed by the mandates (although some where as businesses were shut down, people put out of work, etc  as well as hospitals putting all elective actions on hold to handle the covid surge and there were some who put off some important issues such as cancer screenings)  but what I was talking about is the government over-reach and how it was cheered on by the extreme left.  Placing government control over individual rights must be done carefully and not overdone or you risk moving out of a democracy and into fascism / totalitarianism.

Trump-Appointed Judge Deemed ‘Not Qualified’ by Bar Association Voids Mask Mandate on Planes, Other Travel

Althea Legaspi

Mon, April 18, 2022, 5:27 PM · 2 min read
A Trump appointed Federal judge in Florida has voided a national mask mandate for airplanes and other transportation. “Wearing a mask cleans nothing,” U.S. District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle wrote in her decision on Monday. “At most, it traps virus droplets. But it neither ‘sanitizes’ the person wearing the mask nor ‘sanitizes’ the conveyance.”

Mizelle, 35, was only eight years out of law school at University of Florida when Trump appointed her to the lifetime position in 2020. The Daily Beast   noted   at the time that her only trial experience was as an intern, and that she held four clerkships, including one for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. Mizelle was rated “not qualified” by the American Bar Association prior to her appointment, citing her lack of experience.

The transportation mandate case on which Mizelle ruled was filed on behalf of a group known as Health Freedom Defense Fund, as well as airline passengers. Mizelle said that the Centers for Disease Control had exceeded its legal authority, that it had failed to justify its decision and follow comment protocols, and that the mandate was “arbitrary and capricious,” according to   The Washington Post . The CDC had announced earlier this month that it extended its mask mandate to May 3.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) said it will no longer enforce the mask mandate in light of Mizelle’s decision,   according to CNN .

The Biden administration was dismayed by the ruling. “This is obviously a disappointing decision,” Press Secretary Jen Psaki said at a press briefing on Monday. “The CDC continues recommending wearing a mask in public transit.”

I'm not against masking, but I'm against the theater of the mandate.  Sorry but watching Biden walk around outside all by himself but he's wearing a mask.  That's theater from the government.  I am vaccinated, but it was my choice.  A lot of government employees don't get that choice, it's forced on them.  And this is for a vaccine that has not gone thru the normal review process, there wasn't time.  We don't yet know what if any ramifications may come up in 20 years time.  Combating the virus was important, but IMO once again there was theater from the government hence over-reach.  The government refused to include any idea of protection from a prior infection, the ONLY protection they would talk about was for taking the vaccine.

The CDC recently held internal meetings as public trust in the CDC had fallen.  One of the discoveries is that the CDC allowed themselves to become politicized in regards to handling Covid.  The government has been very public about "follow the science" yet their over-reach continues to ignore the science.  Nobody is clean in this but it seems to me that the Democrats have done more to expand the divide in this than the Republicans have done.  The entire "it's a battle between the vaccinated and the unvaccinated" line..  that was over-reach.  Other people can have other opinions.   But I expect the normal come back will be examples of singular people who either benefited or did not benefit from the government mandate, or someone who will just focus on one single aspect to explain all of the government overreach that has occurred for the past years. Have your opinions, that's fine. But this rant is more big picture than any singular aspect.
