Antifa mob wreaks havoc on GOP candidate's Portland rally: 'From roses to riots'
Sandy, Oregon mayor and state GOP gubernatorial candidate Stan Pulliam described the alleged Antifa siege on his campaign rally on 'Fox & Friends First.'

Sandy, Oregon mayor and Republican gubernatorial candidate Stan Pulliam is devastated after an alleged Antifa group disrupted his "Fund the Police" rally in Portland on Saturday.

Prepared to throw firecrackers at attendees and deface campaign materials, the group brought a reminder of its "anti-fascist" message that often finds itself on the opposing end of free speech supporters.

During a Monday interview with "Fox & Friends First" guest host Joey Jones, Pulliam described the developments as "unbelievable."

"The city of Portland - from roses to riots. As a statewide candidate for governor, we should be able to go to the largest metropolitan community of our state and have a peaceful campaign rally," he said.

"Of course, less than 15 minutes in, we're greeted by Antifa, showing up with firecrackers that they're throwing at us, paint, feces all over our campaign [signs], our campaign bus completely destroyed…"

Pulliam used the instance to illustrate the state of Portland and to remind viewers that he would act as a fighter for the people of his state.

He also weighed in on claims that Antifa is fictitious, saying that certain naysayers denied that the development took place.

"It's unbelievable. We have video footage evidence that's all over Twitter, all over social media, the local news has picked it up, and just like you say, they're claiming it didn't even happen," he said.

Pulliam pointed to the wave of violent crime, including riots and homicides, and to a shortage of law enforcement which prompted a 20-minute wait for a 911 operator after attendees attempted to call the police.

Pulliam added these examples in stressing the need for change.

"That's why we're running for governor," he said. "Republicans are looking for a fighter, and we're going to take this fight all the way to the governor's office."

There seems to be 2 constant "assumptions" by the right wing.

Any kind of protest against the right wing is "ANTIFA".

And any discussion of racism is "CRT".

Compared to left wing protest it was very peaceful. There were no arson fires,  few people killed or injured and those that were were protesters, no looting little property damage.

I find it difficult to discern culpability from shear ineptness in Portland.  Continued violence and vandalism combined with high housing costs, homelessness and poor political leadership has led to a decline in Mutnomah County and the Portland metro area.

Last Fri evening a string of stolen car crashes, demonstrations and shootings strained Portland police and they had to limit their responses to only life-threatening calls.  Portland policing is a thankless job.

They make good beer there though.

But antifa doesn't exist!

Anti-fascist groups exist, there is no centralized ANTIFA organization or leadership, just some disparate leftwing extremists who, on a local level, organize anti-fascist protests whenever right wing fascists push their toxic ideology in their towns. With that said, anyone from either side who resorts to violence, vandalism or looting should be arrested and held accountable for their crimes. While the vast majority on the left share a disgust for fascists, only a small number on the fringe confront them with violence and vandalism and those who do are clearly more anarchists than simply being left of center ideologically.

The attempt to paint anyone on the left as some fantasy card carrying ANTIFA members is clearly just more right wing dishonesty and an attempt to deflect from right wing conservatives obvious move towards fascism by claiming to be the victims, something those with weak arguments supporting their ideological bile often do.

Antifa is a violent group of leftwing extremists.

That's akin to saying "Right Wing Militia's" is a group of rightwing extremists. Do right wing militia's exist? Yes. Is there one centralized command that all the right wing militia groups follow and are subordinate to? Of course not, they are thousands of disparate right wing extremist groups who all have a central ideology they share and espouse. The same is true of ANTIFA which is also what makes both right wing extremist militia groups and left wing anti-fascist groups like the Proud Boys, Boogaloo Boys or self proclaimed ANTIFA groups so difficult to combat since there is no "head of the snake" that can be cut off.

"The violent extremist groups on both the left and the right in the United States have both similarities and significant differences in their ideologies, goals, tactics, membership, recruitment techniques, and involvement in violent criminal activity."

Abstract

The left-wing groups arose during the late 1960's, whereas right-wing groups have been a problem throughout much of the Nation's history. Left-wing groups emphasize class struggle and support for people in the Third World, whereas right-wing groups often believe in-white supremacy, extremes of Christianity and patriotism, and involvement in the survivalist movement . Both extremes are antidemocratic, see their mission as bringing about the revolution, and blame all the Nation's problems on a particular group. Leftists usually have urban backgrounds, are highly educated, and include blacks. Extreme right-wing groups consist entirely of white Christians and are often blue-collar and poorly educated. Both types of groups exploit legitimate political issues to attract members. They both also recruit from the military and prison populations. Their criminal offenses are similar and include bombings, murder of law enforcement officers, and attacks on government installations. Both types of groups pose a danger to the United States and need to be monitored. However, right-wing groups have greater potential for mounting a significant effort because they espouse (supposed) traditional American values . 3 notes and 22 references."

This study was prescient in its prediction of the rise of right wing extremist groups in America.

But that is not what I said or was even talking about.

You said "Antifa is a violent group of leftwing extremists." which is woefully inaccurate. There is no singular "Antifa" group as you claim. Your comment is no different than claiming all right wing militia groups are the same and under one banner, the "Right Wing Militia Group", which of course would be just as ridiculous as claiming there is an "Antifa group".

Have some of the disparate self anointed "Antifa" groups used violence and vandalism? Yes. And they should be held accountable. Have some of the disparate self anointed "right wing militia" groups used violence and vandalism? Yes. And they too should pay for their crimes. Does that mean all right wing militia groups are the same and should be held responsible for any other right wing militia groups crimes? Of course not. Same thing for the varied left wing anti-fascist groups. Being anti-fascist does not mean you've broken the law and used violence or vandalism to further your cause or to attack fascists, the vast majority are peaceful protestors of what they see as a rise of right wing fascism in their communities and they are rightfully alarmed. But only through peaceful means can they actually succeed in defeating right wing fascism, the fascists want to be attacked because their entire argument is that they are victims of the left which is why they justify their fascist ideology.

A top candidate in the Republican primary for Oregon governor has admitted that he and his wife had explored a swinging lifestyle before deciding that swapping partners wasn’t for them, according to a report.

Stan Pulliam, 40, told the Willamette Week that he and his wife of 12 years, MacKensey, had “explored relationships, mutual relationships with other couples, for a brief period of time before ultimately deciding that it wasn’t for us.”

Pulliam, the mayor of his hometown of Sandy, fessed up to the outlet after a 2016 screenshot from a page titled “Swinger Facebook Group PDX” made its rounds across the state’s political circles.

“Hi Everyone! MacKensey and I are excited to be added to your little community. Some of you we have already had the pleasure to meet and we look forward to getting to know the rest of you!” he wrote in the group, which had 536 members at the time, the Willamette Week reported Thursday.

In an interview last week with the newspaper, Pulliam declined to reveal when the “mutual relationships” began or ended, but said the couple’s participation ended well before he began running for the state’s top office.

Meanwhile he appears to be quite the "family values" man in his own life. s/

I looked at the Fox News video of the "antifa riot" at his campaign rally.  It appears that about 8 or 10 people dressed in black threw a couple smoke bombs toward the "crowd" of Pulliam supporters. Hardly a riot.

Throwing paint on someone and mortar or grenade like fireworks aren't legitimate protest.

It appears that about 8 or 10 people dressed in black threw a couple smoke bombs toward the "crowd" of Pulliam supporters.

And to you that makes it OK? It was only a few and they only threw a couple of dangerous explosive devices. I am surprised you haven't yet said that it was all of Pulliam and his supporters fault for have ng a peacefully rally.

What I think is that it was a small rally and a small amount of people dressed in black came towards them throwing small fireworks. And the confrontation was brief.  The videos show nothing else.

OregonLive reporting is likely more comprehensive than the video.  In any case not as serious as the protest Fri night.

An investigation is underway after a gunshot was fired that police say was “likely related” to a confrontation between a protest convoy and counter-protesters in Northeast Portland on Friday evening.

According to PPB, officers learned just before 7 p.m. Friday that a shot was fired as a group of people were throwing things off the Northeast Glisan Street overpass over I-205.

Police said they were already monitoring a protest convoy that was driving through Portland and had counter-protesters “confronting” them.

Officers recovered evidence of a shot having been fired, and PPB said it is “likely related.” Police said about 15 people were “yelling at and harassing the officers as they conducted the investigation.”

Yeah, it must have been one hell of a stretch to link a gunshot in the same area where idiots were throwing things off an overpass to each other.

It was just one, brief gunshot though.

Hardly even a felony.

Who could be upset by that?

One of many Fri night in Portland:

At 5:01pm, officers responded to a report of a stolen van located near Southeast 20th Avenue and Southeast Division Street. The van's driver eventually crashed at Southeast Ash Street and Southeast 26th Avenue, striking two pedestrians, one with life threatening injuries. Multiple suspects ran off into the neighborhood.

At 6:54pm, officers responded to a report of a group throwing objects off the Northeast Glisan Street overpass over Interstate 205, and that a shot had been fired. Portland Police were monitoring a protest "convoy" that was driving through Portland and counterdemonstrators confronting them.

At 7:48pm, officers were notified that Oregon State Police (OSP) were pursuing a stolen ambulance into Portland. Several calls came in about the driver of the ambulance driving recklessly, including driving on sidewalks and going the wrong way on some one-way streets. OSP later stopped the vehicle outside of Portland and arrested the suspect.

At 11:59pm,  officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at Southeast 82nd Avenue and Southeast Henderson Street. When they arrived they located an adult male with severe injuries. The driver who struck him left the scene and was not immediately located.

On Saturday, at 12:37am, officers were dispatched to the 7200 block of Southeast Woodstock Boulevard on a report that someone was shot in or near a convenience store. When officers arrived they found it was actually two shooting victims.

At 1:17am, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 00 block of Southeast 127th Avenue. One shooting victim was located and transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

At 2:06am, officers responded to the 14100 block of Southeast Woodward Street on a report of two people shot.

At 2:18am,  officers responded to a report of a shooting at a bar in the 3200 block of Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard. They located one victim on scene who was transported to the hospital by ambulance. A short time later, another possible victim arrived at a hospital by private vehicle, although it is not clear if he was related to this shooting. A third male was hurt by possible shrapnel and arrived at the hospital by private vehicle.

In other hypocritical who gives a fuck news; Democrats prove they do care about peoples' sexual orientation- and that is not a private matter. Tell us how this affects his ability to be governor? What is it in what you have posted is relevant that disqualifies him; or impedes his ability to do the job in any way? Seems that the couple engage in consensual sex with other couples.

As for your research, or lack there of it, think and and look harder.

If this was a far right group attacking a leftist politician you would be howling at the moon. Even if it was "just smoke bombs"; which they already proved it wasn't.

A rally for Republican gubernatorial candidate and Sandy mayor Stan Pulliam  attracted a group of counter-protesters Saturday , leading to a brief confrontation. Pulliam, an anti-trans, anti-abortion, pro-Trump conservative, happily used the interaction as a tool to accuse anti-fascists of trying to silence his campaign. Pulliam is now furiously refreshing his inbox to see if he's received an invite to Tucker Carlson's show yet. And, being the liberal geniuses that they are, figured protesting was better than working to elect the candidate of their choice.

Some days this site really makes me laugh.  This thread is a perfect example.   Progressives progress  from claiming it's wasn't antifa  to justifying  assaults on peaceful assemblies  within a couple posts,  with made up history, victim blaming,  and ass backwards logic mixed in for good measure. Throw in a seed filled with progressive bigotry and it's another banner day for the site's left wingers.

what crimes will they justify tomorrow? What stunning examples of cognitive dissonance are in store?  What slurs will they hurl at those who dare think different?  Should be fun to see what tomorrow brings.
