Midterm Watch - Part 1: The Governors
“New Yorkers throughout the state are sick and tired of the attacks on our wallets, safety, freedom, and kids’ education. They’re fed up with the direction of Kathy Hochul’s New York and her rampant pay-to-play corruption. Crime Wave Kathy is driving New York right off a cliff. To repeal cashless bail, fire rogue DAs like Alvin Bragg, stop congestion pricing and take other bold action to save our state, Hochul’s gotta go,” he said in a statement.

Link to quote:  https://nypost.com/2022/10/06/trafalgar-survey-suggests-kathy-hochul-barely-ahead-of-lee-zeldin/

We are now one month away from the midterm elections. The Republicans are expected to win the House and the Senate is still up for grabs, but another important story is how much, if at all, the radical policies of Joe Biden will effect the nation's governor's races. There are 36 Gubernatorial seats on the ballot this year. Some of these races like the race in California, aren't really contests. In the case of California, it isn't because Gov Newsom is so popular, it's because the state is so incredibly corrupt. However there are some very important races that are contentious and in some cases a true bellwether. Four races stand out.

Let us start with the suffering state of New York:

hochul-zeldin-governor-race-poll-feat-image.jpg?quality=75&strip=all&w=878

Incumbent Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul, who served as lieutenant governor under Andrew Cuomo until his resignation, is running for Governor. We all remember when she took the helm, as Cuomo left under pressure and in disgrace. We knew little about her. Now that she has presided over New York's crime crisis, we know her well. She has done nothing about crime and has a legagy of awarding state contracts to her donors. New Yorkers might just be fed up enough to make a serious change.

th?id=OIP.vqsLmFAZMArO8H2COAWV1wHaE6&pid=Api&P=0

Her opponent is Lee Michael Zeldin who has represented New York's 1st congressional district in the United States House of Representatives since 2015. Most importantly, he is a Republican running for Governor in a deep blue state. Shockingly, Zeldin is within 2 points of Hochul (  44.5% to 42.6%) according to a reliable Trafalgar poll taken on Thursday:

https://www.thetrafalgargroup.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/NY-General-Poll-Report-1004.pdf

Arizona's open seat:

Republican Gov. Doug Ducey is term-limited. Arizona, once a red state has turned somewhat blue due to rampant illegal migration. This race has become one of the most closely watched gubernatorial races of 2022, featuring former TV anchor & Republican Kari Lake vs democrat Katie Hobbs. The problem for the GOP in this one is that Lake is what the media calls an election denier. It will be an uphill battle for Lake to overcome the 24/7 characterization.

Nevada and the re-election campaign of Gov. Steve Sisolak:

Sisolak like fellow democratic incumbent, U.S. Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, is in the fight of his political life. In this one the GOP has put forward a strong candidate in Joe Lombardo (not to be confused with the Outfit's street boss by the same name.) Sisolak has tried to make "abortion" the issue, while Lombardo has made Sisolak's performance as Governor the issue.

Oregon's open seat:

Here is another one where the Governor can not run because of term limits. That would have been radical democrat Kate Brown. This one is a 3 way race and each one of the candidates has a shot. Former House Speaker Tina Kotek, a democrat is running in big blue Oregon in hopes of becoming the first openly lesbian governor in the U.S. Credentials that could only be admired out on the west coast. The GOP has former state House Minority Leader Christine Drazan, who is well respected in crazyland. And as the fly in the ointment: former state Sen. Betsy Johnson, a democrat turned independent. The presence of the independent makes it a bit unlikely, but it is possible that a Republican could take this seat. In that ever happened, Oregon would be another bellwether in the coming red wave.

There is no way I would ever vote for Zelden. His anti-abortion stance is insanely severe and I have two daughters.

Btw, the latest poll is just one poll. Here is an aggregate of all polls:

800

I hate to disappoint, but even though he has a lot of money being pumped into his coffers, she maintains a healthy lead. He might of had a chance if he held a reasonable stance, but I don't see it happening even with parts of upstate and eastern Long Island voting for him.

That race is tightening:

"A  poll  released Friday by the Trafalgar Group shows Whitmer leading by six points (51% – 45%), indicating a much closer race than the previous  polls  from the Detroit News and  Detroit Free Press  showed. According to a Detroit News poll from the end of August through early September, Whitmer led Dixon by 13 points, while the Free Press had the governor ahead by 16 at the middle of last month."

Whitless has outspent Tudor Dixon by a vast amount on advertising; and has a much bigger war chest left to attack with.

Dixon should have an easy time of attacking Whitless with all of her gaffs. Her abuse of power during Covid; and flaunting her own regulations should be enough to hang her on. But somehow she is getting a pass.

Also, Republicans in this state are what I like to call resigned to losing.

Arizona is interesting in watching the politics play out.  Hobbs touts herself as a law & order type of person but the only law enforcement to endorse her are a couple of Sheriffs which are elected politicians.  Police unions and Border Patrol endorse Lake.  But yeah, the election denier part of Lake is pushed hard and heavy.  She was dumb to jump into it and the news media has not let anybody forget she did.

Really any topic.  Hobbs defines the phrase 'Knowledge a mile wide and an inch deep'.  She continues to get flustered when asked questions that are not scripted.  Her latest one as from a moderator in the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Forum.

Mexican journalist León Krauze, who works as an anchor for the Spanish-language news outlet Univision, asked Hobbs about what she has specifically learned from the Latino community.

Hobbs was stumped by the question and struggled to name anything specific she has learned from the Latino community, but mentioned she has a sister-in-law who is Latina, and also tried to say a few words in Spanish.

“Today, today you said that growing up in Arizona, you have seen and heard how impactful the migrant community, talking about the Hispanic community, has been. Let me ask you, how has it impacted you personally? What have you learned — specifically learned — from the Latino community?,” Krauze asked Hobbs.

“Oh, that’s a great question. Um, I don’t necessarily think about it that way, in those terms. I think I really value my relationships across the board with different folks, and I learn all the time from people in my life. My sister-in-law, she is Latino and her family… I love hanging out with them and practicing my español – un piquito. So, but yeah, I mean, I just, it’s… I’ve learned so much from her family, but I think it’s really hard to separate out Arizona and subtract Latino culture because it’s so much a part of who we are as a state, and I — Arizona wouldn’t be Arizona without the… what the Latino community brings,” Hobbs responded.

“So there is not one specific lesson you can share… other than the español… it’s one-third of the state,” Krauze followed up. “Uh, yes absolutely. I mean I think there’s, there’s many lessons: the, the emphasis on, uh, family values, uh, hard work, uh. Those are something that I value in my own life and you know, uh, it’s something that I… that I respect,” Hobbs said.

As much as I dislike some of the ideas that Lake has, I would really hate for this empty glass to become out next governor.

Lake has also secured the backing of Mike Lindell, the MyPillow founder and a leading conspiracy theorist about the 2020 election. Lake appeared on Lindell’s podcast last month and celebrated his endorsement, writing on Twitter, “Mike Lindell is one of the Great Patriots of our time. I am so incredibly honored to have his Endorsement. He has put EVERYTHING on the line to restore our Elections.”

We live in a degraded country. People will lie, in elections and on internet forums , in order to advance the political ambitions of traitors. The Founding Fathers are rolling over in their graves.

Kari Lake happily accepted the endorsement of Mike Lindell, perhaps the biggest political crackpot of the century.  Now you say she is being "smeared". God help America, and i am serious. This country is in profound trouble.

We have seen enough of Mike Lindell over the past few years to know, conclusively, that there is something deeply wrong with this man. Yet he keeps showing up in speaking roles at Trump rallys and the GOP candidate for governor of Arizona is sucking up to him (probably to please Trump).

None of these people should get within a million miles of elected office.

The right wing may think they will "restore" something if they win in November but the damage being done to the society is profound, and the good feelings of fleetingly winning an election will not last.

Changing demographics will inexorably change the national makeup, and nothing can stop that, nor should it be stopped. All Trumpism is doing is burning the house down.

On that i would tend to agree, maybe thats why i dont listen to or pay the man no mind as to what he says .

Just as i agree that the change in demographics cant be stopped in one way or another , the issue actually is , no one can get others to do as they see is needed if the other disagrees , and it wont matter which party has control , people individually will make up their own minds and do as they are going to do anyway irregardless of what the other side thinks or feels .

and that is the reality to be faced .

that is why i like a saying i heard , " i CAN see your problem , the problem is you cant make it MY problem ." when it comes to the issues talked about .
