behind blue eyes - ROGER DALTREY (the who)
Great song!
I love that album!
One of their best, blue eyed soul.
OMG, another great album. I love The Windmills of your mind.
She was a great one, when I was in 8th grade a girl turned me on to her. I loved them both.
That's a sweet story.
Nothing beats young love.
baby i need your loving - LEVI STUBBS (the four tops)
fools rush in - LESLEY GORE
Darlin' is such a great song.
When I was in my 20's when "Worst that could happen" became one of my personal favorites as did the reinvented Johnny Maestro. One day one of my friends asked about the scar around Johnny's mouth. I recall telling him "that must be the time Johnny walked home from the Bronx at 2:AM."
They also had a good one with "Blessed is the rain."
I think they destroyed themselves and rightfully so, with a terrible song called "Your Husband - My Wife.
Great album!
Interesting tidbit, my uncle dated her in high school.
Dated who, the cat?
Joan Baez sings a Bob Dylan song that more than a half century later still rings true. With God On Our Side (Link) ->
Johnny Cash - Walk the Line (LINK) ->
Now there are two singers....well, I won't say it.
No kapish.
I remember my mom loved this song.
Great tune.
Have you heard this version? She blew me away.
Sorry, can't help myself...Haha
This one is from 1959, but it is SO GREAT!
One of my all-time favorites!
Mine, too. I love that song.
I still have Darin CD's in my car.
oh me oh my - LULU
Anything and everything by Ella. She was magnificent.
Excellent!
Nice.
Lani Hall is a great singer. She was the original lead singer for Sergio Mendes Brazil'66. She has been married to the great Herb Alpert for 49 years.
love song - LANI HALL
so many stars - LANI HALL (brazil 66)
You just can't get too much Sergio Mendes.
I always thought that was very haunting.
RIP Dear Lady
or the original...
Is it weird that I know the lyrics to that song...
They were actually the first concert I went to. KC and the Sunshine Band opened...
Not at all.
til there was you - PAUL MC CARTNEY (the beatles)
Here are two of my favorite videos:
Good morning starshine. The Earth says hello, you twinkle above us, we twinkle below.
These are for Buzz...I hope these will work for you
Thank you Raven. I enjoyed watching the Archies do Sugar Sugar, that played through perfectly. Unfortunately Good Morning Sunshine went start and stop. However, I have access on bilibili to 23 versions of Good Morning Sunshine, and rather than my having to check out each one I would appreciate it if you would tell me the name of the performers.
So glad that the videos worked for you. When I pre-tested the two videos before posting them, both worked fine. Sorry that the Good Morning Starshine did not work well all the way through for you. But, I'm glad that you have an alternative means to play the song for you.
As for the singers in the songs....
The singer in the Good Morning Starshine song is sung by 'Oliver', the name he goes by professionally. His full name is William Oliver Swofford,
For the Sugar Sugar video....the lead singer of The Archies is Ron Dante.
I hope this helps.
Thanks for going to that trouble for me. As I've said now a few times my vision is waning and I misread the title Good Morning Starshine to be Good Morning Sunshine. I will play that one through tomorrow morning. Either because my 13 year old computer slowly loses its grip during the day, or the internet congestion builds up so things work much better in the morning and I'm sure it will play smoothly in the morning. I appreciate when members post a title and performer because then I often have alternative sources other than YouTube so I can find the song, but many members don't say anything, just post a YouTube, and all I get is a blank comment.
My pleasure, Buzz. You know I'm always happy to help, and knowing your problem with YouTube I made an mp copy of both videos for you and perhaps others who have a problem accessing YouTube.
LOVED Starshine - made me think back to my happy weekend hippie days. Only one thing missing from the images - nobody was smoking a J.
Very glad you like it, Buzz. I was never a hippy per se, as I was too busy working as a model and being a single Mom for two kids, but, I really enjoyed a lot of the music from those days.
Not just a song, but a history and a memorial for the families of those who went down with the ship.
I would have posted this as one of my choices if I had thought that it was well known. The song was written to address the wife he was leaving. I think it was his greatest song. Gord lived 4 houses away from me for a year.
I think you've made excellent song choices all around.
Don't be creepin' round my back stair
i cant let go - LINDA RONSTADT
different drum - LINDA RONSTADT (the stone poneys)

Smokey, his voice is a beautiful musical instrument.
One of the greatest singer/songwriters of all time. Tragically, gone way to soon.
Laura sings 60's soul:
If you don't know Laura Nyro, this is the entire "Eli and the Thirteenth Confession" album from 1968. It is beyond great.
A heartfelt tribute by Better Midler when Laura Nyro was posthumously inducted in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Those are all great songs, G. Thank you for posting them. They bring back a lot of fun memories.
Great add, she was a far greater singer/songwriter than is usually realized. Her music just didn't match what was commercially successful at the time. I find it timeless. Cancer took her at a far too young an age.
Since she was so great, but not well-known today, I thought it might be a good introduction to younger members who don't know of her to post a full album as well as several songs.
When I was in high school, in the 60s, all the girls wanted to be Laura Nyro.
Christmas 1969 I bought my brother Laura Nyro's Time and Love and he had bought me Joni Mitchell's Clouds. Neither of us were familiar with the other's choice but we both ended up very happy with those albums.
Nice. Clouds is a truly amazing album.
My favorite by Buffalo Springfield. I used to love playing this bass part before the arthritis in my fingers forced me to stop playing.
One of my first favorite bands. Sorry tom learn of the arthritis. It's terrible when age stops us from doing what we love.
Yes, it is. It became very painful to play. It's been about 13 - 14 years since I stopped, although I keep thinking I want to pick it up and try. I started playing music when I was 8 years old, maybe younger because I used to pick out songs on my neighbors piano even before I was 8 as I recall.
The Beatles - The Ballad Of John And Yoko - YouTube
The Traveling Wilburys - End Of The Line (Official Video) - YouTube
I'm going to give some respect to Englebert Humperdinck. He may have been out of step with the swinging sixties, but this guy had some pipes. I think he is still performing in his mid 80's.
two different worlds - ENGLEBERT HUMPERDINCK
love me with all your heart - ENGLEBERT HUMPERDINCK
The greatest concert of all time with one of the great bands of all time.
The Weight, Winterland San Francisco 1976.
The greatest impromptu jam session in history. Taj Mahal and his band were playing at the Palomino Club in North Hollywood CA featuring Jesse Ed Davis a guitarist that everyone wanted to play with when in walked Bob Dylan, John Fogerty, and George Harrison and the rest is history.
Sir Tom Jones
its not unusual - TOM JONES
