$85,000 Picasso plate stolen from Miami art fair
A silver plate crafted by Pablo Picasso has been reported stolen from a Midtown Miami art fair.
David Smith, owner of the Amsterdam-based Leslie Smith Gallery, told The Miami Herald that the plate was taken overnight Friday from his booth at Art Miami a satellite fair to Art Basel, which is also being held this week. Smith reported the theft to Miami police, who were investigating.
The 1956 piece, Visage aux Mains, is a 16.5-inch silver plate engraved with a face and hands. Smith said it's valued at about $85,000. The missing piece will be reported to an international database of stolen artwork.

I wouldn't take the chance. No, not a very smart move...
Just in case you wanted to see what it looks like:
There is a great story about Picasso. So different that so many artists throughout history he became extremely famous during his lifetime. In fact, he was the first artist whose works were displayed in the Louvre while was still living. The French Minister of Culture was visiting him in his studio while he was painting, and he accidently spilled some paint on the Minister's pants. Picasso apologized profusely and said he would pay for their cleaning, whereupon the Minister said: "Non, non, Monsieur Picasso, just sign them s'il vous plait."
hhm...Maybe it's just me...but I'm not overly impressed...but, that's just me..everyone has their likes and dislikes.
Very interesting story..thanks Buzz!!
