Transgender woman wins Miss Nevada USA pageant, making history
Kataluna Enriquez, a transgender woman, has been crowned Miss Nevada USA — for the first time in the pageant's history.

A transgender woman has been crowned Miss Nevada USA — for the first time in the pageant's history.

Kataluna Enriquez, 27, who only began competing last year in cisgender pageants, was named the winner Sunday in the competition at the South Point hotel-casino in Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

"One thing that is important for me is inclusivity, diversity and representation. It's something I did not have growing up and is still lacking in today's world," Enriquez said.

"Today I am a proud transgender woman of color. Personally, I've learned that my differences do not make me less than, it makes me more than," she continued.

She beat out 21 other candidates to represent Nevada at the Miss USA pageant that will be held on Nov. 29, the outlet reported.

Enriquez — who previously was crowned Miss Silver State USA in March — competed in several gowns that she designed herself, including a shimmering number with rainbow sequins.

"I did not always have money and it's hard for women to find dresses that fit their bodies," she said. "Pageantry is so expensive and I wanted to compete and be able to grow and develop skills and create gowns for myself and other people."

Enriquez said that she joined the competition to share her story and show that she's more than "just a body."

"With pageantry, people think it is only about beauty. But it's how you present yourself, what you advocate for, what you've done and the goals you have," she said.

I guess judges have their preferences. Some like brunettes. Some like big boobs. Some like good singers or dancers. Some like the way they walk. Some like the way they talk.

In each pageant, the rules specify the criteria for winning and each judge brings their own sense of what qualifies to win in the various categories. It’s usually some combination of the qualities I just referenced - e.g. beauty, poise, swimsuit, evening gown, talent, ability to answer a question, etc.

You know what’s never done? They don’t put the ladies in stirrups and stand around to admire their vaginas. They’ve also never busted out the microscopes to examine their chromosomes.

In other words, the qualities that you seem to think are so central to winning a pageant, never have been.

Are you suggesting the winner was chosen solely, or in major part because she is biologically male? Because if that were the case, it seems to me any random dude could have been chosen. They could have just trotted the valet or the janitor out there in their uniform or their tightie whities and dispensed with the rest of the proceedings.

Why didn’t that happen, you suppose?

So your problem then, is not with the biology of the winner, but with the plastic surgery.

I haven’t seen their rules. It may be that being a woman isn’t even a requirement. But even if it is, I doubt they are running tests on anyone. What would be the point? Is the winner supposed to get pregnant?

I also don’t know what their rules are regarding plastic surgery. How about the girls with the nose job? Or skin bleaching? What if somebody was a burn victim? Hell, what about makeup and hair?

I mean if you want a Pageant of the Natural Woman, there’s always my wife at 7am. Be careful what you wish for.

Yes it is the biology of the winner. The winner is,was and will always be male. Chemical injections and cosmetic surgery can not change that biological fact. He was born with XY chromosomes, he has XY chromosomes now, and he will have XY chromosomes until he dies. That is scientific fact. Biology ang genetics are both sciences you know.

You also might ask the tranies that now regret their transitions and are detransitioning. Ask the women that have ben raped and/or sexually assaulted by men who claimed they were women in order to access the women's restrooms including the girls from those Virginia highschools and middle schools.
