The Whopper of the Week
Tucker started, “Jennifer Rubin is a columnist at the Washington Post. Rubin is probably the dumbest person ever to have a newspaper column.”

Link to Quote: https://www.bizpacreview.com/2021/10/06/carlson-expands-on-dems-replacement-theory-calls-it-electorate-packing-with-jennifer-rubin-providing-receipts-1144857/

Yesterday one of our members posted the story of a Washington Post columnist who repeated a story from the "Business Insider" which was wrong on the face of it, as well as already having been debunked. The ridiculous claim was that more people were leaving the state of Florida than were moving to it. Business Insider got the numbers backwards, of course, yet neither Jenifer Rubin nor the editorial staff over at the Washington Post bothered to check out the story or the fact that BI had already admitted to the monster "mistake." This has been an alarming trend for the American media in the past few years. Stories are not checked out or unnamed sources are used recklessly and always to frame a biased narrative.

Here is that story:

Jennifer Rubin: Washington Post Columnist & failed blogger on Twitter

Here is the problem with these lies/mistakes: they all seem to happen in one direction. In this case it was to make the media's main enemy, Gov Ron DeSantis look bad. Corrections take days to post. Most people who casually follow the news are not always there for the correction and this kind of shit sticks. Then there is the censorship the left favors. Here we are governed by what I consider a subjective fact checker. Here is how it categorizes the Washington Post:

leftcenter04.png?resize=600%2C67&ssl=1 MBFCMostlyFactual.png?resize=356%2C128&ssl=1

LEFT-CENTER BIAS

These media sources have a slight to moderate liberal bias.  They often publish factual information that utilizes loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by appeals to emotion or stereotypes) to favor liberal causes.  These sources are generally trustworthy for information but may require further investigation.   See all Left-Center sources.

  • Overall, we rate The Washington Post Left-Center biased based on editorial positions that moderately favor the left. Due to a few failed fact checks, they earn a Mostly Factual rating.

How many really think the Washington Post is "mostly factual" with a slight left of center bias?

Do I get to ask the question or will Big Brother censor me?

America had been blessed with a free press. Unfortunately, most of our media have used such freedom to slant the news to a leftist perspective or to simply lie to the American people. Legacy media like the Washington Post should act more responsibly. We expect more from the press than we would a politician. We turn to the media for the facts. The motto of the Washington Post during it's worst years has been "Democracy dies in Darkness."

In a correction on Saturday, the Post admitted the column "mischaracterized" the statistics.

How Factual Is the New York Post?

Over a dataset of 1,000 articles, the New York Post scored an average Factual Grade of 51.9% . This is below the average of 61.9% for all 240 news sources that we analyzed. This places the site in the 12th percentile of our dataset.

These low overall scores are partially due to low-quality sourcing, a lack of author expertise, and sensationalized writing and headlines. Most articles only have intermittent links to supporting evidence, and many of those links point back to other internal articles, suggesting limited diversity in sourcing. The Post’s tabloid style means some authors write on many different topics, leading to low overall scores for author expertise (rather than established beats). Additionally, part of the site’s approach to driving traffic involves the use of sensationalized headlines and text, both of which lead to lower article scores.

========================================================================================

How Factual Is the Washington Post?

The  Washington Post  scored an average Factual Grade of 68.7%, placing the publication in the 79th percentile of our dataset. These moderately high scores can be attributed to several factors. For example, articles commonly include ample links to external sources and direct quotes to support their reporting. Likewise, the Washington Post employs dedicated reporters who routinely publish high-quality articles on the same subjects. However, scores are dragged downwards by opinionated language (see below).

The article is "about" Vic's (he wrote the article) belief that the Washington Post is not factual.

How many really think the Washington Post is"mostly factual"

The fact that it is rated more factual than one of Vic's favorite sources is entirely relevant on this seed.

That only applies when it's brought up in a left seeded article.  Gotta just love the hypocrisy.

I think one of the most entertaining things is when they contort themselves trying to rationalize/justify why they are not actually doing what they are doing or why it is different when they do it.  Pure comedy gold.

Conservatives on this site routinely use the New York Post as a go to source, the seeder of todays article in particular often uses the New York Post.

The New York Post is rated by The Factual, a media rating outfit, as being considerably less factual than the Washington Post.

One is in the 79th percentile (WAPO) and the other is in the 12th percentile (NYPO). This is like difference between one getting a B + and the other getting an D - on a test.

If Jennifer Rubin made a foreseeable mistake then her reputation will suffer for it. Right wing media doesnt have much of a reputation to lose.

The king of right wing media, Fox News,  is paying a 750,000,000 dollar settlement in a slander suit, and has admitted in public that their most popular hosts lied about the 2020 election results.

Someone is going to say, "they are opinion shows".  So is Jennifer Rubin's column.

The bottom line - this seed is utter hypocrisy.

Vics point, I guess, since he said it, is that the Washington Post is not very factual. I posted information indicating Vic is wrong, and in truth the Washington Post is more factual than one of Vics favorite sources.

What did you post?

Vics point, I guess, since he said it, is that the Washington Post is not very factual.

We've known that for a long time now.  They are right there with the likes of CNN, MSNBC, HuffPo and several others.  What is telling is all of those have continually published false information, yet the left (yourself included) like to use them as "trusted sources".

At the same time, you have a history of completely ignoring the subject of an article just because you don't like the source.

Just more PDD&D.  The article is on the WASHINGTON post not fact checking and there is a factual instance to prove the claim.  Care to step away from PDD&D and comment on it?

I sure do, starting with the NYP breaking the Hunter Laptop story which was censured by social media and the US government.

by The Factual, a media rating outfit,

Every fact checking group is left biased. IE IfTrump says it is Thursday, on a Thursday, he would get a partly true because it will soon be Friday!

If Jennifer Rubin made a foreseeable mistake

There isn't a rational human being alive in this country who would not know that people have been flocking to Florida.

The bottom line

The bottom line is the Washington Post was willfully & unforgivably negligent

I guess those people aren't members, since nobody has been able to dislodge this story from being the Whopper of the Week. No story in the past week has been as ridiculous as this claim that Florida is losing residents. The originator of the story has long since admitted to the huge blunder.

How did the Washington Post go with this story?

Remember when liberal Hollywood promoted the great fiction that the Washington Post fact checked their own stories?

"Deep Throat" turned out to be a disgruntled FBI official who was pissed off that Nixon wouldn't make him FBI Director.

Yup, those were the days....the days of jeans, weed and an older generation that loved their kids a bit too much.

It really shows you how far the standards have fallen at the Post. It's not a surprise clickbait like Business Insider screwed up reading a chart, but the Post supposedly employs fact checkers to catch this sort of thing.
