Florida was supposed to be the future of the GOP — now the state party is in shambles

S E E D E D   C O N T E N T

I t may seem hard to believe right now, but this time last year, Gov. Ron DeSantis and the rest of Florida's Republican Party were being heralded as the post-Donald Trump future for the GOP.  Republicans had underperformed in the 2022 midterms  in most parts of the country — except in Florida.  DeSantis won re-election that November by a whopping  20 points, which was especially impressive considering  his 2018 margin of victory was less than half a percentage point . Desperate for some sign that there was hope for their party after Trump, Republican elites decided DeSantis had discovered a magic formula with his aggressive culture war  politics that involved book-banning dropping the word "woke" every few seconds , and  waging war on Disney

Perhaps DeSantis will appoint the two moral police to being overpaid state employees in a make-believe position.

Moms for Liberty is having a three-way her husband is accused of rape two other appointees are facing criminal charges and DeSantis's presidential campaign is in the toilet.

Not a good week.

Oh, members of the Republican party are leading the charge to make abortion part of the Florida constitution with a 24 weeks window.

Not a good week.

Don't forget Florida's failure to squirm out of Disney's lawsuit.

Isn't the GOP FL chair being pushed out because of fraud? I was half paying attention the news the other morning.

Found it:

I remember mentioning that on another article.  Accused of raping the woman that he and his wife have threesomes with.

Mind you I am not laughing over the woman accusing the scum bag of rape. I'm laughing at how dumb people like him think the American public is

I'm thinking the whole purpose of the threesomes was so the woman could have his wife and he thought he could get a little honey on his stinger in a twosome.

Maybe the lesson to be learned is that it's a big mistake to attack Mickey, or could it be mind control by the manatees?

when temperatures in Florida dip, lizards fall asleep and fall out of trees

This is proof that populist policies are often both unconstitutional and unpopular. It doesn't fly in FL and won't fly nationally. You can only push people so far until they push back.

I've been away wandering around the Historic District of St. Augustine and most everyone behaved themselves for 8 hours. Congratulations you are now able to let loose since I'll be moderating or throwing a little S myself.

If the photo looks like I'm freezing my ass off, it's because I am...It was 45 degrees at 3pm. It's the coldest I've ever seen in St. Augustine in the middle of the day.

We had a late lunch at Columbia the oldest restaurant in Florida dating back to 1905. It's famous for its Spanish and Cuban food.

We had

El Combo de Cuba
Sample the flavors of Cuba and enjoy this
feast of roast pork, boliche, empanada de
picadillo, platanos, black beans and yellow rice.

Topped off with a rich Cuban Coffee.
