Still the voice of the people
"I say very simply, we were starting to pay down debt," Trump said during the Iowa Town hall event on Wednesday night. "We were going to pay down a lot of debt when COVID came along. If I didn't inject this country with money, you would have had a depression, the likes of which you have never seen."

Last night was the final town hall event scheduled by Fox News in Iowa over the past three nights. On Monday it was Nikki Haley, on Tuesday it was Gov Ron DeSantis and last night it was the people's candidate former President Donald Trump.

He stuck to all the issues, was concise and reminded Iowans of his many achievements in his first term.  We also heard of his new plans for a second term. I loved the way he handled the tough questions. One was from a Pro-Life woman who said she was deeply concerned about his new stance on abortion: IE leaving it to the states. Trump reminded her that it was he that appointed those Supreme Court Justices who corrected the wrongly decided Roe decision. I believe he put it "If it wasn't for me, you wouldn't even have got as far as you have." And then he pointed out that none of it is any good if it costs well qualified Republican candidates elections. I think everyone in the room got it. Abortion is now a matter for the states and Republicans must leave the issue for better or worse.

There is always witty humor when Trump is on the stage and so it was last night. A question arose over Gov DeSantis and Trump responded with "If it wasn't for me Ron DeSantis would be working in a Pizza parlor somewhere."  I spilled my drink and I've been laughing ever since.

Donald Trump ended the Town Hall by going into the crowd to take more questions and sign autographs. There was a raging snowstorm outside the hall. Trump said he would have to head right back to NYC to try and personally deliver a closing argument in the Civil Trial (a very low bar for a conviction) where a Trump hating judge and attorney general were closely working together to screw him.

Still the voice of average Americans!

May God bless him.

Today we celebrate the coming contempt citation of one Hunter Biden. Yesterday Hunter's snake like mercenary lawyer pulled a stunt in which Hunter Biden crashed his contempt of congress hearing. As predicted the democrats on the committee tried to act as Hunter's attorneys and chaos ensued. As soon as it appeared that Marjorie Taylor Greene would ask Hunter a question, Hunter's attorneys, Kevin Morris and Abbe Lowell, (the best hired guns in the business) quickly escorted Hunter out of the hearing room.

Is that the reason a defendant can't speak in his own defense?

Or is it because this guy like the NY AG is blatantly biased?

Trump pointed out that when he was President oil was $40 a barrel. At that price Putin couldn't afford a war.

He had Iran isolated and broke. That is war # 2 that likely wouldn't have happened.

I'm sure a lot of what Biden blew taxpayer money on would be cut under Trump.

I know you believe the LYING POS, but do you honestly believe this many conspire to keep ole Trumpy down and unable to go hire, the best and the brightest dug up from the deepest cavernous depths of the swamp, who has amassed this little accomplishment?

In all, Trump faces 91 felony counts across two state courts and two different federal districts, any of which could potentially produce a prison sentence. He's also dealing with a civil suit in New York that could force drastic changes to his business empire, including closing down its operations in his home state. Meanwhile, he is the leading Republican candidate in the race to become the next president—though lawsuits in several states seek to have him disqualified from the presidency. If the criminal and civil cases unfold with any reasonable timeliness, he could be in the heat of the campaign trail at the same time that his legal fate is being decided.“

.

Trump is the WORST this country has to offer, and deep down Vic, you know he is WRONG for the job of leader of the free world, and if you truly don’t realize this, then hopefully, in your words,

Breaking:

NY State AG Letitia James viciously attacks Trump on last day of trial, brags that her office will present closing arguments today, after the judge denied same opportunity to Trump.

She claims Trump is a fraudster who intentionally inflated the value of his assets to deceive lenders. She writes, "Today, my office will present our closing arguments in our trial against Donald Trump for financial fraud.

"For years, Donald Trump engaged in significant financial fraud to enrich himself and his family. "No matter how rich or powerful you pretend to be, no one is above the law. "Before this trial even began, the court ruled in our favor and found that Donald Trump engaged in this fraud and unjustly enriched himself and his family.   "During the trial, we revealed the full scale and scope of that fraud. "We heard from many witnesses: Trump, his family, his employees, and accountants.   "Their testimony exposed the baseless values and fraud they used to inflate Donald Trump's net worth.

That's not entirely true, the judge would have let Trump speak provided he agreed to limit the content to about the trial only and not introduce new items and/or make it a campaign speech. But we both know that's almost impossible for him to contain himself.

But this entire episode seems to me as a bad deal for the Trump haters. NY is using a law that unless I'm mistaken is not a law anywhere else in the country. There doesn't need to be a victim of fraud here, just the determination of the DA to bring it to trial. And this is a DA who campaigned on 'getting Trump'. Add in a judge who from the beginning seemed to be predisposed to find Trump guilty, who has donated to Democrat politicians. I believe the appeals are already prepared and ready to be submitted and I thing there's a very good chance that this will be overturned down the road.

I don't know if anybody has talked about this or not. As these are felony charges that can include jail time and the judge has appeared to be predisposed against Trump, what happens if Trump is found guilty and the judge orders jail as well as a fine? How much will be made of election interference in this case? I think it's gonna be a big can of worms if that happens. I'm popping the corn in anticipation.

Doesn't matter because this is a civil trial and not a criminal trial.  The Clinton vs Jones civil trial set the precedent that civil rulings are not disqualifying for the office of President.  Even Clinton's perjury during that civil trial did not rise to a sufficient level for an impeachment conviction.

Letitia James has been all about the money; hoping to use the courts to enrich New York.  Apparently that's what gets votes in New York.  Just keep in mind that Letitia James has not been representing the people of New York.

That should be the defense in this case.

Correct on all points. The problem is how soon is "down the road?" We are on fast tracts in all these cases for a verdict, but an appeal will be a much different matter.

I don't know if anybody has talked about this or not. As these are felony charges that can include jail time and the judge has appeared to be predisposed against Trump, what happens if Trump is found guilty and the judge orders jail as well as a fine?

If that cannot be overturned before the election, Biden will win easily.

How much will be made of election interference in this case?

It will be confined to America's free press which is Fox News, The Wall Street Journal and a few small organizations. Then it will die out and we will likely have a one-party nation.

I think it's gonna be a big can of worms if that happens.

It is likely.

Nassau County authorities on Thursday responded to a bomb threat at the house of the judge presiding over the civil fraud trial of Donald J. Trump.

A spokesman for the Nassau County Police Department confirmed that there was an investigation at the house of the judge, Arthur F. Engoron, who in several hours is expected to hear closing arguments in Mr. Trump’s case. Two people with knowledge of the matter said that the threat involved a bomb and that the bomb squad came to the house.

It was not clear whether the threat would delay the proceedings.

The threat came the morning after Mr. Trump again   attacked Justice Engoron   on Truth Social, his social media site, saying that the judge and the New York attorney general, who brought the fraud case, were trying to “screw me.” And it   came just days after   the police in Washington were called to the home of the federal judge overseeing Mr. Trump’s election interference case.

Mr. Trump originally planned to speak in his own defense at closing arguments Thursday. But Justice Engoron   said he would have to abide by rules   that apply to lawyers giving closing arguments and refrain from delivering a “campaign speech.”

ok, there are so many cases that I may have gotten confused. I read somewhere that these were felony charges that could include prison time but may have confused it with other cases as there are so many articles out there that lump all the cases together.

weakest being their little euphemism for a sham trial.

Those on the left only see it the way they are told to.  Not an original thought among them.

Look at the timing and the results of their "investigations" over the last 7 years.  Many have amounted to absolute zero, many were found to be based on fiction, and what is left has not been put to the challenge of a defense team.  Now couple this with the election cycle starting again...

That's the one where Biden shut down the ongoing one when he took office and started a new one made up of his own investigators.

Especially since they invested so much into the misinformation Fauci issued.

And here is what we do know about him:

Dr. Anthony Fauci once argued that conducting experiments on contagious viruses to increase their potency was worth the risk, even if the work could accidentally lead to a pandemic, it was revealed Friday.

The nation’s chief medical advisor wrote in the American Society for Microbiology in October 2012 of the public health benefit to gain-of-function viral experiments — which center on manipulating viruses and making them stronger — as long as there is significant oversight.

In the article,  first reported by The Australian , Fauci also noted that a pause on such studies should continue until researchers can figure out how to do them more transparently.

Gain-of-function experiments are the sort of work that was being conducted at the Wuhan Institute of Virology when the COVID-19 pandemic first started in China in late 2019 and  some experts fear a lab accident  is what led to the global outbreak that killed 3.4 million.

In the 2012 paper, Fauci acknowledged the risky research could lead to serious lab accidents but the chance is rare and the work is “important” because it helps the scientific community prepare for naturally occurring pandemics.

Fauci once argued viral experiments worth the risk of pandemic (nypost.com)

Our critical thinkers say we should wait for the facts from Biden's investigators before forming an opinion.

A critical thinker would deem this case the weakest of the cases against Trump because the other ones have more serious consequences on the nation and are supported by overwhelming evidence of Trump's clear guilt.

This case, compared to that by GA, documents, and Jan 6 is the weakest of the set.   That is not a euphemism for anything, it is simply a relative assessment of this case compared to others that are stronger.

Further, I personally am much more concerned about the wrongdoing of Trump while PotUS rather than those as a private citizen.   The former sets a horrible precedent for the nation that needs to be reset.

So much wrongdoing as opposed to a president who took money from foreign governments and lied about it, weaponized the DOJ & FBI and openned the southern border.

You leap to conclusions about Biden when the evidence is still only circumstantial.   You translate partisan hyperbole into a claim that Biden weaponized the DOJ & FBI (i.e. claiming, absurdly, that Biden is driving the indictments against Trump).    You claim that Biden opened the southern border instead of stating the truth that he has historically failed to properly secure the border due to a lack of desire, incompetence, or both.   "Open the border" is a ridiculous exaggeration of the truth.   The truth is bad enough, why exaggerate?   And even so, failure to adequately deal with illegal immigration does not compare to what Trump gratuitously did:

You compare hyperbole to what Trump has actually done.  Trump's wrongdoings are codified in 91 felony counts with substantial corroborating evidence and specifically named laws that he allegedly violated.    If found guilty (likely), Trump will be the only PotUS who is a convicted felon.   As it stands now prior to legal finding of guilt, Trump is the only PotUS who has attempted to steal a US presidential election through fraud, coercion, lying, and incitement.   Trump violated his oath of office to preserve, protect, and defend the US CotUS by trying to circumvent same.  Trump attempted to violate the foundation of democracy — the vote of the electorate.   Trump is a traitor with abysmal character, no moral compass, demonstrable narcissist and pathological liar.

Short of not committing murder, one wonders how Trump could be a worse candidate for the most powerful office on the planet.   Seems to me that even if Trump adds "convicted felon" to his list of admirable attributes, those voting for him will continue to do so.

You ignore the incredible level of definitive, evidenced wrongdoing of Trump but make exaggerations of Biden.   That is partisan thinking, the exact opposite of critical thinking.

You must be the last holdout. Yesterday, even the New York Times admitted that the southern border is wide open.

A wide open border means that there is no attempt to stop illegal immigration.   It is hyperbole ... an exaggeration of the condition.   Just state the actual condition rather than exaggerate (and lose credibility).   Do you really want to make that claim?

When evidence against Biden moves beyond circumstantial and into something that can be put forth to corroborate a charge, then you will have something.   The endless partisan hyperbole is ridiculous.    And I am not suggesting Biden has done no wrong.   I, unlike you, need some quality evidence to corroborate allegations.   We have that with Trump (in abundance).   Not so (yet) with Biden.

The charges against Trump are substantially beyond partisan hyperbole.   They are stated in legal constructs of formal charges, descriptions of supporting evidence, and links to the specific laws that have been allegedly violated.   You really should have watched the Jan 6 testimonies of high-ranking, connected, GOP officials who compromised their political careers by testifying.

In addition, we can all see (if we stop pretending to not see) what Trump did in all three cases.    The evidence is overwhelming with Trump.

If Trump is found guilty of any of the 91 felony counts, will you claim that this is nothing but a rigged judicial system?

Heard that shit the first time around. Country was still standing when Trump left office.

Then Brandon took over; and this country and the world, went to shit.

Other than beating Trump name one Brandon accomplishment?

  • Spending billions of tax payer dollars and blowing the debt and deficit up isn't an accomplishment by the way.
  • Nor is involving the US in 2 new proxy wars (after his disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan).
  • China appreciated Brandon allowing their spy balloon to enter our air space; and hover over our military installations w/o any response.
  • They also appreciate Brandon allowing a Russian/Chinese fleet to proceed down the Canadian/US coastline unmolested. Nothing shows our strength more than ignoring our top two adversaries fleets to have free reign off our western coastline.
  • Iran would really like to thank Brandon for allowing them to use their proxies (Hezbollah and the Houthi) to test air and sea drones, and land to ship missiles on our fleets. They couldn't ask for better targets- or a more tepid response. US consumers will be overjoyed with the price increases on imported goods; as the international shipping lines will no longer risk sending their fleets into the Red Sea; and will now rout around Cape Horn.
  • Ukraine has never been so flush with US tax payer dollars. The fascist corruption kings don't know what to do with all of the money- so they are expanding their conflict with Russia to Africa. China would also like to thank Brandon for depleting US money and military weapon reserves fighting a useless proxy war with Russia. What does Ukraine offer the US? What do we need from them that we cannot supply ourselves? But the NATO tail is back to wagging the US dog; so at least Europe is happy again.
  • All of America would like to thank Brandon for the wide open southern border and record setting influx of illegal immigrants to this country. The cost to the US taxpayer at the federal and state levels. Throw in the added crime, sex trafficking, gun running, human smuggling, and fentanyl. Things are so good that illegal immigrants from all over the world are flocking to the southern border. Including terrorist states, and people on the terror watch list. That is just the ones BP manage to catch- who knows about the ones that entered the country and weren't detained. None of them are vetted. It is like the US mass air lift of unvetted Afghanis on steroids.

That is just a short list of Brandon's non-accomplishments. He will have far more before the end of 2024.

Brandon as a Senator (Senators can't remove classified material from the skiff) and VP (Unless he is the one that made the document and classified it) doesn't.

Which one had possession of classified material they weren't supposed to the longest? Which one had classified material that broke chain of custody repeatedly?

Which one had people looking for classified documents that weren't authorized to view them?

Now remind us which one was charged again?

Two tier justice at it's finest.

Not all the "But Trruuummmmppppp!!!!!!" BS in the world can change the facts.

Trump as President has a right to declassify documents.

Of course he does.   But he has to do so while PotUS and he has to engage in the process of declassification.   That process produces a record.

Trump did not declassify the documents while PotUS.   Private citizen Trump had no right whatsoever to those documents.   None.   He illegally obstructed their safe return and even tried to hide some of them from officials.

Which one had possession of classified material they weren't supposed to the longest?

Entirely irrelevant per the law.   What matters is intent and action once discovered.   Both Biden and Pence followed the law.  Trump did not.   Trump directly violated the law and that is why Trump is under felony indictment.

Which one had people looking for classified documents that weren't authorized to view them?

That is not against the law nor is it wrong.   What nonsense.

As for obstruction- if the FBI wanted the documents they could have claimed them the first time when they were locked in the storage shed. They didn't. Garland/Wray are to blame for that.

That is a pathetic excuse.   Trump obstructed the safe return of the documents.   His actions are what caused his troubles.
