A great deal for Vladimir Putin

A great deal for Vladimir Putin
Jake Sullivan calls the intricate diplomacy surrounding the release “vintage Joe Biden.” Adds, choking up, “today was a very good day.”

Yesterday, as 9/11 terrorist were getting plea deals, there was another of those controversial exchanges that encourage more hostage taking. Russia was more than willing to exchange 16 prisoners, including Paul Whelan, a U.S. Marine held since 2018, and several pro-democracy activists to get back eight prisoners which included a convicted assassin and several spies.

The prisoners Russia held would have rotted in jail if Putin didn't get back his assassin and a handful of spies. The exchange took place for only one reason: Putin got a great deal. Aside from getting back a few convicted hackers and several Russian spies, Putin got back a key figure in his vital security force:  Vadim Krasikov, who is an assassin and part of the vital group which protects Putin. Krasikov was convicted by a German court for the 2019 killing of Zelimkhan “Tornike” Khangoshvili in broad daylight in a Berlin park. He was sentenced to life in a German prison. Seven countries were involved in the deal.

What did the US get?

Biden got to use the return of what were clearly hostages in the never-ending campaign against Trump. It evoked memories of when Barack Obama was widely criticized for giving up five high-value Taliban prisoners for deserter Bowe Bergdahl and for negotiating with terrorists for his release. One would have thought that Kamala Harris would have been credit for it as well, but Jake Sullivan (maybe unintentionally) said: “If you had not have Joe Biden sitting in the oval office, I don’t think this would’ve happened.”

To add insult to injury, Joe Biden was later asked about former President Donald Trump’s comments that he could have secured the American prisoners’ release without giving up anything, Biden replied, “Then why didn’t he do it when he was president?” and then walked away, seemingly unaware that two of the three Americans released were arrested during his term in office, not Trump’s.

united-states-dana-bash-of-cnn.jpg?s=612x612&w=0&k=20&c=wnGcNGs884BXqM5AofU5S9-P3r_3tncJJFnNBsP8udA=

A smug Dana Bash (CNN) called it a “mic drop moment” without clarifying the facts or the timeline of the arrests, which demonstrates how dishonorable the American media has become.

In other news:

The New York Times is now saying that Ismail Haniyeh, the political leader of Hamas, was killed by a bomb that operatives had planted months earlier. If true, it illustrates the effectiveness of Mossad and their cooperation with anti-regime groups in Iran.

The United States recognized Venezuela’s opposition presidential candidate, Edmundo González, as the winner of the country's disputed election.

The Senate rejected a bill that would have restored tax breaks for businesses and expanded the child tax credit.

In the 12 days since Kamala Harris has become the presumptive nominee, she has yet to hold a press conference.

You think Putin gives a shit about Trump?

When it comes to racist comments and being divisive look to your own damn party first.

As for desperation which party tried to keep Trump off of state ballots? Which party is using lawfare to try and imprison Trump? Which party is trying to sentence Trump with a state using a federal law to stretch misdemeanor book keeping violations (whose statute of limitations ran out out long ago) into a felony? Show us all anywhere in the Constitution that allows states to prosecute federal law?

Leftist are drowning in desperation. Trying to federalize election laws; putting term limits/packing the Supreme Court; and granting amnesty to the millions of illegal immigrants the Biden administration has let in will be at the top of their agenda. "Americans last" is their only motto.

The release was as far as I can tell a coordinated effort by hundreds of folks from dozens of countries with Biden (and it appears Harris also) channeling diplomatic efforts to arrive at last night's outcome. Note that 'Brandon' had the grace to climb into the plane and thank those still aboard who had helped bring the hostages home. So we are supposed to love inflation; high gas prices; open borders with millions of illegal streaming in; the two tier justice system; the weaponization of the FBI/CIA/DOJ/IRS against Democrat political opponents; Democrats trying to federalize all elections; and pack/change the Supreme Court?

If it were still Donald Trump's America they would love it.  But Joe Biden's America they hate.  If Harris gets in they will double hate it.

Leftists would be screaming for Trump's impeachment if he were in charge and doing the same damn things. Just flip the last 5 items so Democrats come out on the short end of the stick.

There is no compromising with leftists any more. They need to be removed from power or they will turn this country into a more woke, militarily weaker, dysfunctional version of China.

This is what I mean by blind partisanship.   Unlike strategic partisanship in which one generally votes D or R because they prioritize party platform over other factors, blind partisanship condemns anything and anyone from the other party and praises anything from their party.

For some, if Trump were a D (and he could easily have run as a D), they would be condemning him left and right and be up in arms at the judicial system and cooperative judges delaying his trials so that the electorate is denied the legal truth.

For blind R partisans, nothing Harris does will ever be good.   Her faults will be exaggerated to the absurd.   Her qualifications will be ignored.   Meanwhile, Trump —the worst major party nominee in my lifetime (and likely in our history)— is defended at every turn and his many negatives and wrongdoings are ignored.

When I speak of partisanship I am referring to blind partisanship.

First of all, you are yet again misrepresenting my position.   I have stated for years now that Biden is too old to be PotUS.   I disagreed with him running in 2020 because the presidency needs a younger individual (45-65) give or take due to the nature of the job.   I have criticized the Ds this election year for not urging Biden to yield the race to someone younger.

Biden is too old, Trump, in contrast, is both too old AND entirely unfit to be PotUS.

In a choice of an elderly PotUS past his time vs. an irresponsible scoundrel, traitor, etc. like Trump the choice should be obvious.   Trump should never be given the power of the presidency.

From your comments, if forced to choose between an old Biden and Trump for PotUS, you would choose Trump.

Additional to the Harris remarks you shared above should she win the presidency in November she can already count on Trumpists (GOP) if they control either branch of congress to obstruct her fiercely— and I am not referring to the cause being she is a democrat. Let's remember 2009:

TIME just published  “The Party of No,”  an article adapted from my new book,  The New New Deal: The Hidden Story of Change in the Obama Era . It reveals some of my reporting on the Republican plot to obstruct President Obama before he even took office, including secret meetings led by House  GOP whip Eric Cantor (in December 2008) and Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell (in early January 2009) in which they laid out their daring (though cynical and political) no-honeymoon strategy of all-out resistance to a popular President-elect during an economic emergency. “If he was for it,” former Ohio Senator George Voinovich explained, “we had to be against it."

If forced between Biden or Trump, which would you choose?

Interesting that it took 2 hours and a half dozen statements to get to the question.  Of course I am sure most can see why.

So I can choose one of two paths here.  I can:

Continue down the path of a ridiculous, hypothetical  scenario being forced to choose between an asshole and a guy that is not even running.  Of course to continue down the ridiculous road I would have to know how I was being forced.  If someone were holding my kids and told me I had better pick Biden (or Trump) or my family would suffer I would gladly choose if whomever they want.

Or I could state:

Some questions are not worth answering, some discussions are not worth continuing.

Actually I will choose the second one even though you will interpret that as you usually do.

TiG is not "forcing someone to vote for someone", he is asking a simple question. For some reason, many around here have a problem with this type of question. If anyone wishes to spout off their opinion, go ahead, but on a forum like this, there will be other people that will wish to know why one defends a candidate or various positions, and why they attack another candidate for their various positions. I find it ridiculous how so many here, after reading so many of their comments, stating they won't be voting for Trump. It is just crazy to watch people bend over backwards while doing a triple Lindy off the 80' platform to defend and rationalize any and everything Trump, and then say they are both bad candidates, so I'll not be voting for either.

It just doesn't jive. And I really would like to know how and why people , first, defend the POS, and second, why they continue to defend the POS after each and every day another reason to NEVER vote for this POS rears its ugly head. ( Today, it appears Trump possibly accepted $10,000,000.00 from the dick tater of Egypt, during his 2016 campaign and ole Lower the William Barr shut down the investigation) If Trump gets reelected, we all will suffer, so some of US really would like to understand WHY this clown deserves people diving upside down in contortionist positions, to defend him.

How do you think they arrived at the short list?  What qualifications did one need to make the short list? Black and a woman? Did a computer pick them randomly from a list of all black women in the US? How then did they winnow the selections down? I mean, there are quite a few black women in the US over the age of 35. Oh, shit there is a qualifier that you did not even mention. So your logic: Kamala Harris only got picked because she was a women and black, is false. Period.

When 'someone' (Donald) heads a presidential administration that hires 'toughs' and confrontational types who 'hit back hard' it may indicate a level of unprofessionalism and a lack of experts sufficient for the jobs they are given to serve.  Collectively, 'you' can't hire 'toughs' and "confrontational types' and properly label the process: "merit-based."

Donald Trump Delivers Keynote Speech in Florida 4/21/22 Transcript

Donald Trump: ( 46:24 )

Because our country is going to hell. The critical job of institutions, such as Heritage to lay the groundwork .

And Heritage does such an incredible job at that. And I’m telling you, with Kevin and the staff, and I met so many of them now, I took pictures with among the most handsome, beautiful people I’ve ever seen. I didn’t like that picture. If you could lose that picture, please would you Kevin? But this is a great… No, he says I won’t do that. But this is a great group.

And they’re going to lay the groundwork and detail plans for exactly what our movement will do and what your movement will do when the American people give us a colossal mandate to save America and that’s coming .

That’s coming. Because nobody can stand what’s happening right now. Only a fool, only a fool or somebody that hates our country could like what’s happening right now.

Donald Trump: ( 50:18 )

Okay. But then they made me a dictator instead. In other words, I don’t know, which would you rather be, a dumb person or a dictator? I don’t know. Perhaps a dictator would be better. I don’t want to be a dumb person. With the right leadership, we can erase the Biden nightmare. We can rescue the American dream faster than anyone ever thought possible. But we cannot be satisfied merely to turn back the clock to 2020 or 2019 . The potential of our movement and the Republican party itself is so much greater than that.

We need an organization like yours working on the next generation of policies for a post-Biden, post-COVID world.

And if I didn’t have confidence in your new leadership and all of the people that I’ve met and so many that I knew of, but didn’t know, I wouldn’t be here tonight.

Very weak sauce.

1) Obama was not the only person to have his birthplace questioned. The others were all white. That disposes of the idea it was racist to question it.

2) Trump called all the prosecutors who were waging lawfare against him "animals" and other things. It was clearly based on prosecutorial malpractice.

3) The 4 "women of color" were Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) and Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.). In other words, the radical squad and they are not all women of fucking color. Trump didn't tell them to go to another country. Trump told them: “Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came.”

Birtherism lasted well into Obamas presidency.  We are talking about years .  At one point 2/3 of republicans believed Obama was born in Africa.  EVEN THOUGH the state of Hawaii had specifically said TWICE that Obamas birth certificate proving he was born in Hawaii was on file in the state archives. After Trump came out as a birther , TWO YEARS after Obama became president , the state of Hawaii made an  official statement for the 3rd time that Obama's birth certificate was on file with the state and he was born in Hawaii.

Only a fool thinks birtherism was not racist, and Trump was up to his ears in it.

1) Obama was not the only person to have his birthplace questioned.

He WAS the only one questioned because of his name and his skin color.

2) Trump called all the prosecutors who were waging lawfare against him "animals" and other things.

Despite there being no evidence of "lawfare" being the motive behind the criminal proceedings.

3) The 4 "women of color" were Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) and Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.).

So again he made the statement based on their names and skin color.

The logic of this article is non existent.

The far right loves them some right wing Israeli government.

The Israeli government has, on occasion over the years and recently, made vastly unequal "trades" with people they call terrorists in order to get some captured Israelis back home.  When Netanyahu does it its necessary, when an American president not named Trump does it its horrible.  That is how conservatives hate America . It seems many of them would be happier living in Israel or even Russia.

Hostage swaps with rogue regimes encourage more hostage taking

Trump made hostage swaps with Russia, Iran, and even the Taliban in 2019 and 2020. Stop listening to the propaganda that Trump would have done it different or better. He doesn’t just lie a lot - it’s practically every hour, on the hour.

Trump did do a decent job of bringing some people home, but he didn’t bring everybody home and certainly not just by force of will. Just like other presidents, he sometimes gave up prisoners to make the deal, and yes, he did so with “rogue regimes.”

I'm sorry" and "Trump was right."

I'm sorry the 'right' has found itself so lost, and Trump was

right, about him loving those not so educated or informed or easily played, as the excuses for this clown will go down as some of the most exhaustive ever seen construed and distributed while believed and not through with it, as in the BullShit that seems to have not end, as with every Trumpian excuse, it does send US All further away from where we should be today, and in every weigh, brings US further down, all led by one orange clown, who's racism lowers an entire country, yet we see it yet still abound...

Trump enabled a dark side of so many here, to appear, and as it opened the door, it shines the light on so many and much more, that can't seem to see or be made aware of that which they do share, and they've proven far too generous to know or care, almost to the point of debate know longer seems fair

Pointless, stupid, and dishonest bickering. Just like any president, Trump presided over prisoner exchanges where we gave somebody to get somebody. Sometimes we give a lot to get a little, and sometimes it’s the other way around. I’m so weary of this POS lying about how he would have done this or that amazing thing at no cost. He’s so full of shit.

Russia was more than willing to exchange 16 prisoners, including Paul Whelan, a U.S. Marine held since 2018, and several pro-democracy activists to get back eight prisoners … Putin got a great deal.

Did he? Because the simple math of this is we got 16 people and they got 8. That’s 2-for-1 in our favor.
