Biden, Harris call the Israeli strike killing Hezbollah’s Nasrallah a 'measure of justice'
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Biden administration believes it is appropriate for Israel to continue with its ground and air attacks on Hezbollah for now, U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said on Thursday, even as he acknowledged the risk of the operation in Lebanon expanding beyond Israel's current aims.
Speaking at a regular press briefing, Miller said the nature of all conflicts was "fluid" and "unpredictable" and therefore it was impossible to say how long it would take Israel to achieve its stated goal of clearing Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon, allowing it to return Israelis displaced from their homes across the border by months of rocket fire.
"We do ultimately want to see a ceasefire and diplomatic resolution, but we do think it's appropriate that Israel, at this point, is bringing terrorists to justice," Miller said.
Washington has repeatedly warned Israel against escalating the conflict, but a three-week ceasefire proposal put forward by the U.S. and other countries last week was quickly dismissed by Israel in favor of intensified operations.
The United States has continued to provide Israel with arms despite tensions during the past year over the conduct of its war in Gaza, which started when Palestinian Hamas militants attacked southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.

Although the UN and everyone else wants to see a ceasefire to allow Hamas and Hezbollah to regroup, what the UN will not do is demand that Hamas surrender in order to immediately stop the conflict, stop the bloodshed, prevent the widening of the conflict and would cause the return of the hostages, enable fast delivery of humanitarian aid, get the hospitals operating efficiently again, return people to their homes everywhere (if their homes are still livable), and start the rebuilding where destruction has occurred. Is that too much to ask?
Good question!!!
It's one of the questions EVERYONE should be asked, but it will only fall on deaf ears.

Notwithstanding demands by certain Democratic lawmakers to stop arming Israel.

"...months of rocket fire." that Hezbollah started after Hamas invaded Israel on Oct 7.
Many people are unaware of the fact that there had been a ceasefire-- until Hamas broke itby attacking israel!
Hamas has broken EVERY ceasefire, so why bother with one? They won't accept the current one that's on the table because they refuse to allow Israel to make sure they don't smuggle weapons through the Philadelphi Corridor. The rest of the world has to be fucking stupid not to realize that.
