Buzz's shots offering us a taste of his life in the Orient has motivated me to offer up some views of my life in the woods.
I'm starting with a photo that's not of my own making. It's a screen grab I borrowed from Goggle maps some years back but I picked it as a starting point for the shots to come.
I call it, "My Cabin in the Woods. A Hawks Eyed View"
That's me in the lower right corner. The rest is most of my back yard.
It's on the west side of Daxue Road a few hundred metres north of ZhongYuan Road, across from the No. 1 Provincial hospital in the city of Zhengzhou, Province of Henan, PRC.
Batman doing a Halloween party project at pre-school. Featherman (the owl having his feathers glued on) is still sitting in the drying rack at the school and will probably be there till next Tuesday.
It's easy to see why. Greyson was VERY generous with the glue, as he always is.
Don't know if it's persistence or cuteness, but that boy came back this evening with even more candy than Levi got (they both blew their sisters away completely).
Wonderful photo Feronia. It gives one a subject to focus on, and that subject is beautifully framed. I'm sure A.Mac would say it follows the rule of thirds, and besides the branches of the tree with the coloured leaves point down towards that focused subject, and the large tree in front with the coloured tree behind give the photo depth, but even further depth because of the distant shore beyond the subject. Even more, the mass of green trees on the left provide balance for the trees and subject on the right.
Rule of thirds, overlapping planes for depth, the couple framed between tree trunks and at the approximate intersection of the bottom horizontal and right vertical thirds
No, that one is from work. The first day of the trip, I had mistakenly left my media in my laptop. sooooooooo, all of the pictures that I took that first day were just for practice. Yet another thing that went wrong with that trip.
One of the four projects the kids were doing as part of the Halloween party was gluing pieces of candy corn onto a paper with numbers on it. They glued the correct number of pieces into the circle with the same number. I told one of the moms that we should make it really intellectual by figuring the ratio between the number of pieces glued and the number of pieces eaten. She said that it had to be at least 7:1 in favor of eating them.
Hit us with (one of) your best shots.
Buzz,
Can you give us the location of the building?

Thinks for doing this A. Mac. See you next week.
A friend with a 54 inch Muskie caught at Red Lake MN.October2013.
Fish returned to the water to fight another day.
It's on the west side of Daxue Road a few hundred metres north of ZhongYuan Road, across from the No. 1 Provincial hospital in the city of Zhengzhou, Province of Henan, PRC.
Ah, wilderness.
I'm cheating and posting two, in honor of Halloween!
These are from my trip to Cedar Point Amusement Park last weekend.
Thanks for adding to the endeavor, AH!
The Mighty Muskie!
Frightful in a good, contributory way.
Thanks, Buzz.
Just after the the photo was taken the friend disappeared, and was thought to have been eaten by the Muskie.
The Sandia Mountains on a hike last month. Pinon Pine on the left and creosote bush on the right.
Thanks Grump looks rugged and unspoiled.
Explosion at a gas refinery....
Incendiary photography, LR!
A Japanese Apple Blossom tree that belongs to one of my friends, taken this Spring.
Thanks Nona.

Excellent job.
It looks like a scene from Lord of the Rings, Grump.
Great capture!!
My grandson went out as "The Joker." Isn't anyone going to be Robin?
Yup! Regarding Feronia's pic
Rule of thirds, overlapping planes for depth, the couple framed between tree trunks and at the approximate intersection of the bottom horizontal and right vertical thirds
BTW, I have been at that exact location!
I'm surprised, Mike. My experience with Canada Geese and goslings is that the parents are aggressively protective.
Thanks for a very nice "animal behavior/parenting" shot.
Excellent composition!
Gosh, I missed this... I guess that I will have to look at it in the mirror...
It reflects well on you, Bro.
Brolly, it's a wonderful concept upon which to reflect.
Nice shot...beautiful scenery..thanks for sharing!!

Glue is good. And tasty, too.
Feronia, that's a beautiful photo. It's a cool place, too. I'm liking it. Thanks for that.

I always figured that Robin had the coolest costume of all. No one wants to do the costume of a second banana, though.
