Happy Easter
Pope Francis gave the traditional Easter blessing on Sunday, appearing from the balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica in front of delighted crowds after a brief meeting with Vice President JD Vance in what marks his highest-profile appearance yet since being discharged from hospital.

The picture I chose is from St Peter's Basilica in Rome. Today Christians will go to Easter mass and will have a family meal. The White House will have its traditional Easter egg roll. To others it is just another Sunday. Vladimir Putin declared an Easter cease-fire in the Ukraine war, though it may not be more than an empty gesture.

For those in Boston it is also the celebration of Paul Revere's ride (250 years ago) and the battle that followed. Tomorrow is the nerdy Boston Marathon. It is also the start of another school vacation week.

It might be time to stand back and do a little reflecting. I knew someone who I disagreed with on just about everything. We were in no way friends and we really had some cut-throat battles. About three years ago there was a discussion in which I disclosed something stupid I did when I was young and the deep regrets I had about it. In a very decent gesture, he told me not to carry it around and reminded me that we were all young once. It was kind of a rare moment for him and I. For some reason I never forgot it. I heard he passed away Friday. I think we can all tone it down on the politics a bit.

That is my Easter message.

"To others it is just another Sunday."

To some it is the last day of Passover.

The White House will have its traditional Easter egg roll. To others it is just another Sunday.

Not exactly traditional

The White House is for the first time soliciting corporate sponsors for the annual  Easter Egg Roll  event to be held Monday on the South Lawn. This comes as billionaire tech executives have faced growing criticism for  cozying up  to the Trump administration.

CNN  first reported  earlier this month that the White House had begun courting sponsors for the typically apolitical family gathering, at between $75,000 to $200,000.

So it seems that Trump and the corporate cronies are looking for goodies as much as the children will be at this easter egg roll

Trump’s Easter message fails to mention Jesus, the cross, the resurrection, forgiveness, peace, joy, or any other Easter message. Instead, he attacked his political opponents, migrants, judges, law enforcement, and rambled about himself and his grievances.
