Where Harley Davidson's Are Not Welcome - The Hanging Tree

3177_discussions.jpg?width=750 Just outside of Ponca Arkansas is ''The Hanging Tree''. Adored with Harley Davidson's that were captured in the vicinity of Ponca.

The irony of the name of the town and the only acceptable motorcycle is classic.

The bike that is accepted in Ponca....The Indian Chief.

You have heard me say it-- my grandparents courted on an Indian Chief.

Great piece of highway interest there, Kavika!

I have checked them out Larry, they are just beautiful.

At one time, I had a 1949 Indian Chief.

The irony of it all, is that the town Ponca, is the same name as an Indian Tribe....LOLOLOLOL

MIG, they are a very cool bike.

The irony of it all is that when I took that photo, the town of Ponca is named after an Indian tribe. LOLOLOL

Yes, I remember you telling us about that Dowser.

I had to take the photo when I saw it, and the irony of the name of the town was too much to pass up.Smile.gif

Why does the town have that attitude?

It's more of a joke 1st....The name of the town, Ponca, is the same as the Indian tribe. Thus they support Indian motorcycles...Grin.gif

Good luck with that BF. Most parents are insane by the time they send the last one off to college. Of course then there are the bills from college.

This doesn't sound like a good plan to me. Buy it now, the costs aren't going to get any less.

Dear Friend Kavika: From 1969-1971 I had Harley Davidson XLH Sportster equipped with rear disc brakes.

Optional "Boat Tail" mudguards were available in 1971. My graduate student budget at Kansas University in Lawrence didn't allow for them.

I loved the feel of the wind in my hair from spring until fall.

Now I haven't enough hair left to wave in a hurricane. LOL.

Great article.

Great Bikes.

That photo of the Indian Chief bike is the most beautiful bike I've ever seen, but I'm waiting to see what the new $27,000 Roadmaster looks like. Roadmaster used to be Buick's high end brand name (4 holes on each side of the hood instead of 3).

And here it is:
