Oh, the Hum of a Hummingbird!

Captured these in Los Altos, CA. The hummingbird was a few feet away not in the least bit intimidated by us.

Nice pics. When I had a cottage in Central Ontario I hung up a hummingbird feeder and enjoyed watching them darting around and virtually standing still in the air with their whirring wings.

They are the coolest birds, Buzz. This one was so close to my daughter and me that we could take those pics and I thought that was incredible!

Beautiful pic's Neetu... For some reason, I have only seen about 3 Hummers this year. I have only seen 1 Monarch this year also I wonder why??

Glad you got to have this great experience!!! Smile.gif

It is not easy to get a good Hummingbird photo.

Good for you!

But she got three good ones there, didn't she A Mac? I'm impressed for sure. Do you know what tree these flowers are on? Guessing "Autumn Cherry".

I believe this is one...

Six,

It appears to be Autumn Flowering Higan Cherry - Prunus subhirtella but I will check further.

I think you are correct. I don't know from sight all these different trees and bushes as I use to know them, but I have two very good books; one the "National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Trees (Eastern Region)" and "Trees of North America" by Brockman/Merrilees I always used when I spent much more time in the woods. Cherry blossoms vary so much. Thank you.

Wow, I am amazed at all the helpers I have here, Six and Mac!Grin.gif Grin.gif

I consider myself very fortunate that my daughter and I managed to capture 4 images - I did not post the 4th one yet. I did not download it to my computer! These 3 were the best, anyway. Thank you, friends, for getting me more enlightened about what those flowers are. I used to think only red attracted hummingbirds, but clearly I was mistaken. The flowers there were all pink and purple.
