In Deference to the "Magic Hour" & the "Cosmos" On Creative Arts Thursday/Friday
By: A. Macarthur • 170 comments • 12 hours ago
In photography , the golden hour/magic hour is the period of daytime shortly after sunrise or before sunset , during which daylight is redder and softer than when the Sun is higher in the sky .
The cosmos is the Universe . Using the word cosmos rather than the word universe implies viewing the universe as a complex and orderly system...

Schoolhouse Rock... I loved these.

I sure wish they made these today. They're so educational. My son learned a lot about grammar and basic math from these. Then when he did a project regarding the branches of government, we watched the ones that were related to that subject. I love these and they bring back a lot of memories.
Which one is / was your favorite?

What's Your Favourite......Whatever?
By: Buzz of the Orient • 70 comments • 5 days ago
We've had lots of "What's your favourite...." articles, and they're usually fun and reading everyone's comments can be interesting, and help us to know each other better. There seem to be innumerable topics - automobiles, songs, books, beer, breakfast, cheese, house, etc etc etc. But they are only interesting if the answer includes WHY. Sure you can answer, say "Coors" but so what?...
Sep 15 10:email@example.comI've gotten into more disagreements over the pronunciation of that than any other word and that's coming from a southerner who uses words like ain't and fidd'n.
Sep 14 7:05pm@4My favorite number would be 5, no particular reason other than it shows up so much in my life.
My favorite letter would be G for a fairly obvious reason but also because it's in so many good words...
Flying the Confederate Flag is NOT a Symbol of Patriotism!
By: Eat The Press Do Not Read It • 121 comments • 23 hours ago
Would you feel safe in this mob of rabid, rowdy, fired up Trump Supporters? Trump makes NO effort to be president of all the people, he is CZAR ONLY of Hate riddled Red Necks with Red Faces from the Red States still flying the Confederate FLAG! I do not recall seeing the Confederate Flag flown at half-mast in Vietnam during my tour of duty, 1965-66. Do you? How did so-called...

Sep 14 10:firstname.lastname@example.orgAre you doubling down on the obtuseness of your previous post?
Sep 14 9:email@example.comNah, the whole comment was sarcastic hence the tag at the end of it😉
Sep 14 5:firstname.lastname@example.orgWhat bullshit would that be? That you're too obtuse to understand a sarcasm tag?
Sep 14 5:email@example.comAren't the extreme "peaceful protests" a response to systemic racism?

Sep 14 1:email@example.comNo doubt that's why we're on our 100th+ days of protesting, rioting and looting in Vicksburg, Mobile, Atlanta and Charleston. But thankfully the mayor of New Orleans was finally able to get those...
How weird are your pets?
By: MsAubrey (aka Ahyoka) • 82 comments • one week ago
I have a dog named Rocky. He is an American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) and about a year and a half old; it's an estimate because he's a rescue.
I also have a 5 year old cat named Palooza; she's a rescue too, but she was born in the home of one of the rescue employees so we know her age.
Rocky is a mama's boy that clings to me like white on rice. He is NOT scared of thunder or...
Sep 11 10:firstname.lastname@example.orgHe is a handsome cat. Is he a Bombay?
Sep 11 1:email@example.comThanks. That's Sadie, she was a stray that showed up one day and decided that we'd do and stayed.
Sep 10 7:firstname.lastname@example.orgShe prefers Princess Willow.🙂
Sep 10 5:09pm@7For some strange reason, my two girls Dixie and Daisy, the two Boxers on the left attempt to shake half their bodies loose everytime I come home.....
Sep 10 5:email@example.comMy Willow loves to look cute, chase laser pointers, and announce to the rest of the clowder that "It's kibbleo'clock y'all"
Georgia’s voting deadline is unambiguous: Absentee ballots are due when the polls close on Election Day. Late arrivals are meant to be set aside, stored, and eventually destroyed without being opened. That’s what state law says, and the way to protect democratic legitimacy in an anxious age is to run elections by the book.
But in the Twilight Zone of 2020, everything is apparently up...
Sep 08 1:31pm@2In my opinion, there is little doubt that this election is going to wind up being decided by the SCOTUS. I also have little doubt that regardless of how the election goes there is going to be a...
What is the ultimate comfort food?
By: Gordy327 • 205 comments • one week ago
Comfort food-we've all had it. We all want it. And if you do not, I pity you. Comfort food is food that brings emotional joy and gratification, even if only for a short time. Maybe it's something that invokes a happy childhood memory. Perhaps it uplifts our spirits. For example, what's better for dealing with a relationship breakup than a tub of chocolate ice cream (other than possibly...

Portland mayor to leave home targeted by protesters
Via: Texan1211 • 22 comments • 3 weeks ago
Sep 02 8:firstname.lastname@example.orgNo doubt, but he sure wants to seen as caring about the safety of those neighbors in his immediate vicinity. Fuck everyone else, apparently.
Sep 02 8:email@example.comHuh? I wonder how many residents of Portland, that don't feel it's safe to stay where they live, would like to relocate and aren't able to?
What are some of your favorite smells? Guess we could include sounds too...
There's a lot of scents that I love; all for different reasons. The smell of tar on a spring morning reminds me of the home I lived in until the age of 8. The city would spray tar on the gravel road in front of my house every spring to help keep the dust down and gravel in place. The smell of a rain storm coming. The smell of Turbo Blue fuel being burned in a hot rod. The smell of Georgio...
Sep 01 10:firstname.lastname@example.orgSame here...also the sound of the low steady lope of a big block Chevy.😉
Sep 01 6:email@example.comYou can't duplicate that smell or feel with anything else.

Kyle Rittenhouse is a 17-year old Antioch, Ill., resident whom prosecutors have accused of fatally shooting two men & wounding another amid violent protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin. A judge will decide at a hearing on Sept. 25 whether Mr. Rittenhouse will be extradited to Wisconsin, where he would be tried as an adult. Mr. Rittenhouse could face life in prison if convicted of...
