Maybe he got a good nights rest on the way back from Vietnam.

In any case Biden was strong today. We await the next round of attacks on his alleged deterioration.

Does lively mean lying, now?

A short time ago, people were criticized for lying about 9/11 for personal gain.  Biden lies about being at Ground Zero in New York the day after and Democrats cheer.

Can't say I'm surprised.

are you bragging that he stood upright and read  a 15 minute speech?

his demeanor reminds  me of of nothing so much as my grandfather in the few years before he died. The shuffling gate, the weaker voice.. of course my grandpa didn’t lie about the things he did even as his mind was slipping during those years. He didn’t start putting himself at Pearl Harbor when taking about the war.

"Ground Zero in New York — I remember standing there the next day and looking at the building. I felt like I was looking through the gates of hell"

You okay with that?

I agree with this:

Yet here's the president in a C-SPAN clip dated 9/12/2001 showing him delivering a speech on the Senate floor:

What jumps out at me immediately in watching this speech is just how different he sounds today. Here, he sounds forceful, in command of the English language, and able to communicate without the constant assistance of a teleprompter or notes. A striking contrast to the man who can barely make it through a speech or press briefing these days.

Arent you one of the ones who spread the lie that Biden kept talking at the press conference in Vietnam even after his mic was turned off?

rent you one of the ones who spread the lie that Biden kept talking at the press conference in Vietnam even after his mic was turned off?

He did.

Here's CNN's Summary:

As the president was responding to shouted questions from the press, Jean-Pierre took to the microphone to announce, “Thank you everybody – this ends the press conference.” Biden remained on stage briefly following her announcement, responding to one additional question, though his full answer was inaudible.

I will read something about it other than your interpretation,

Here, let me help you.

Biden spoke at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson before an audience of more than 1,000   service members , first responders and their families, a White House spokesperson said.

“On this day 22 years ago from this base, we were scrambling on high alert to escort planes through the airspace,” Biden said. “Alaskan communities opened their doors to stranded passengers.”

Biden's Alaska remarks were the first he has delivered in a 9/11 anniversary speech as president at a site that was not hit in the attack.   Last year , he spoke at the Pentagon. In   2021 , he visited ground zero in New York, traveled to Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and then went to the Pentagon.

Biden said Monday he remembered seeing the devastation in New York the day after the attack.

“Ground zero in New York — I remember standing there the next day and looking at the building, and I felt like I was looking through the gates of hell — it looked so devastating,” he said.

But on Sept. 12, 2001, the Senate was in session and Biden was in Washington, D.C., where he delivered   remarks   on the Senate floor.

Biden did   visit   ground zero   on Sept. 20 that year. The White House declined to comment.

Biden marks Sept. 11 anniversary with U.S. troops in Alaska (nbcnews.com)

That's from NBC News, hardly a bastion of right-leaning news.  So when are you gonna start seeds on all the times that Biden has lied?

HE REPLIED TO A QUESTION FROM ONE OF THE REPORTERS IN THE CROWD.  So fucking what?

Joe Biden laid down his microphone 3 seconds after the announcement that the press conference was ending. THREE SECONDS. First of all that proves he didnt keep babbling because he didnt understand what was happening, and it proves he understood what was being done. The right wing media lies that you help spread tried mightily to portray what happened in a different light.

The article that you seeded tried to make it sound like Biden didnt know where he was and lingered on the stage mumbling long after the mic was turned off. That is an absolute lie.

Stop it.

CNN  —

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Sunday abruptly ended a news conference with President Joe Biden in Hanoi, Vietnam , at one point taking a microphone and announcing the event had concluded even as the president was still answering questions from reporters in the room.

As the president was responding to shouted questions from the press, Jean-Pierre took to the microphone to announce, “Thank you everybody – this ends the press conference.” Biden remained on stage briefly following her announcement, responding to one additional question, though his full answer was inaudible.

P resident   Joe Biden   is receiving criticism for commemorating the 9/11 attacks in Alaska rather than New York or any other memorial site.

Biden, who traveled back from Vietnam on Monday after attending the G20 summit in New Delhi, India, will deliver remarks on the   22nd anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks   from the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson military base in Anchorage.

It will be the first time that a sitting president will not commemorate the tragedy at one of the attack sites at   New York's World Trade Center,   the   Pentagon   and Pennsylvania, or from the White House.

Instead, first lady   Jill Biden   will lay a wreath at the 9/11 memorial at the Pentagon, which was struck by   American Airlines   Flight 77, on Monday. Vice President   Kamala Harris   will be at the ceremony on the National September 11 Memorial and Museum plaza at ground zero in New York. Harris' husband,   Doug Emhoff , will attend an event at Flight 93 National Memorial in Stoystown to commemorate those who died in plane crash in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after passengers fought back against hijackers.

Despite the anniversary events coinciding with the president's overseas commitments, Biden has been criticized for commenting about the attacks from the other side of the country.   Newsweek   reached out to the White House via email for comment.

"Yes, Biden was in India this weekend for the G20 conference. But he couldn't arrange his schedule to make it back for a 9/11 ceremony, instead doing a flyby on the remotest part of US soil?" wrote Andrea Peyser, columnist for the   New York Post.   "It may have been 22 years, but New Yorkers remember."

Leonard Greene, opinion writer for the   New York Daily News , added: "Biden will attend a 9/11 commemoration ceremony with military families on a patch of soil that seems about as far away from New York City as one can get—Anchorage, Alaska.

"The president will be returning from a previously   planned state visit to Vietnam   on Sunday, which means he won't attend the solemn event in Lower Manhattan for the second straight year."

Biden visited all three 9/11 memorial sites in 2021 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the attacks. Last year, he gave remarks from the Pentagon to pay respects to the nearly 3,000 people who died in the attacks.

In post on X, formerly   Twitter , Florida GOP Representative Corey Mills noted that Biden's "inability" to make it to New York, Virginia or Pennsylvania will make him the only president since the 9/11 attacks who did not go to a memorial site, or at least the White House, to "acknowledge the horrible incident" on September 11, 2001.

"Instead, Biden is having Vice President Harris, and her husband, going. He also has his wife, Jill Biden, going to lay the wreaths. I don't think Joe Biden has the mental competency to do it himself, but it's again, one more snub to the American people," Mills wrote.

Military veterans have also hit out at Biden for once again not being in New York for the 9/11 anniversary.

Victor Marx, a Marine Corps veteran, told the Washington Examiner that Biden not visiting New York City sends the wrong message.

"By not visiting the sites, President Biden will miss an opportunity to demonstrate his dedication to upholding the values and principles that define our nation, and it may leave some questioning his understanding of the significance of this solemn day in American history," Marx said.

As noted by independent journalist Aaron Rupar, Biden is "damned if he does and damned if he doesn't" regarding where he would be on September 11 this year.

"Biden is still in Asia as part of his G20 trip and will be on his way back tomorrow, so   Fox   attacks him for not being able to attend 9/11 events," Rupar posted on X while sharing a screengrab of   Fox News ' coverage of Biden. "But if he skipped the G20 they'd attack him for that. I guess he should've cloned himself."

This is not the first time that a sitting president will not attend an event at any of the three 9/11 memorial sites to commemorate the September 11 attacks. In 2015, President   Barack Obama   took part in a moment of silence on the White House lawn before visiting the military base in Fort Meade in Maryland.

President   George W. Bush , who was in office at the time of the attacks, marked the fourth anniversary on the White House lawn in 2005.

I keep hearing screams about the threats to the 'democracy' as more and more of our freedoms are being (attempted to being) stripped by the very people screaming about 'democracy threatened.'  I do not care if it is a (D) or a (R) at the helm .. but Americans need to be a / the priority.  Nationalism is not a hateful or racist way of thinking .. America first is the only way to keep the nation from imploding due to the massive divide in the nation - WE must come together as a PEOPLE!

There's no comparison nor is it a matter of simple 'disagreement'

Republicans Are Mad Biden Is Spending 9/11 in Alaska. Anyone Remember What Trump Did?

Edith Olmsted 21-26 minutes   9/10/2023

President Joe Biden is marking the  9/11 anniversary in Alaska—and Republicans are fomenting an entire news cycle over it.

Biden, who is en route to Washington from his trip to India and Vietnam, will attend a ceremony on a military base in Anchorage, Alaska, on Monday, where he is expected to deliver remarks to more than 1,000 service members. Vice President Kamala Harris attended the commemoration ceremony at the National September 11 Memorial Plaza in New York.

Right-wing media outlets have chosen to commemorate the worst terrorist attacks on American soil by inciting faux outrage over Biden’s absence from the ceremony in New York City.

On Monday morning,  Fox & Friends  aired a map showing exactly how far away Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska is from each of the 9/11 crash sites,  highlighted op-eds  railing against Biden’s absence, and  invited comments  chastising Biden from people who lost loved ones in the attacks.

Fox & Friends  anchor Ainsley Earhardt claimed that “every president since 9/11 has been at one of these sites,” and that Biden’s trip to Alaska constitutes a “huge break from tradition.”

While Biden will be the first president to commemorate the 9/11 attacks from the West Coast, Earhardt’s claim is patently false.

Biden is not the first president to mark the anniversary of 9/11 from somewhere other than Ground Zero, or one of the other sites that were attacked. Former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama both commemorated the day from the  White House lawn  at different times. In 2021, Trump went to New York City but  opted out  of the official Ground Zero ceremony.

Fox also reached out to Republican presidential candidates to gain their insights on the president’s scheduling.

Republican candidate Nikki Haley said that she believed Biden should “absolutely” have attended the ceremonies in New York City. Former Vice President Mike Pence also weighed in on the imagined controversy. “I would urge President Biden, as I would any president, to honor the memory of heroes forged that day,” Pence said, ignoring that Biden did exactly that.
For right-wing media, it seems, none of the outrage is actually real, just a way to score some cheap political points and try to remain relevant to the scores of still mourning Americans looking for someone to blame.

Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kan.) on Monday irked critics with his choice of words he used while attacking President   Joe Biden   on the anniversary of 9/11.

Marshall, during an interview on Fox Business, joined in with   conservative outrage toward Biden   for not attending the traditional ceremonies marking the terror attacks. Biden instead marked the attacks at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska, which he visited following the G20 summit in India and a stop in Vietnam.

“I think that a short fuel stop on the way home from a very unsuccessful, embarrassing trip abroad is not the way to celebrate nine, one, one,” Marshall, among the  147 Republicans  in Congress who voted to overturn Biden’s 2020 election victory, griped to “Evening Edit” host Elizabeth MacDonald.

Watch the interview here:

“I think this is totally inappropriate, it shows us how out of touch this current president is. It’s a very sad moment and I just want to stop myself and offer my condolences to all those folks that lost loved ones on 9/11 and let them know that we’re still with you. We’ve not forgotten,” he added.

People on X, formerly Twitter, suggested Marshall’s criticism of Biden was a “nothing-burger.” They also took exception to his use of the word “celebrate” and for referring to the day as “nine, one, one.”

Sen. Roger Marshall is the Ted Cruz of Ron Johnsons. Grotesque. These folks have turned September 11 into a partisan hot potato. Nothing is sacred.   pic.twitter.com/JaMC9g6bHn — Russell Drew (@RussOnPolitics)   September 12, 2023
No one should have been "celebrating" 911. It's not a holiday to celebrate. it's a day of rmembrance. — Zorek Richards (@zorekrichards)   September 12, 2023
Twisted words. Everything he said is backward. Opposite. It was a successful trip. Reassuring for allies. Refueling & taking meetings in Alaska & visiting AF servicemen was hardly "celebrating".

It was too dull & real for the media to report on. Not enough partisan controversy.

No one "celebrates" 9/11. We remember the evil and horror as we watched it happen. — Deb McD. aka Towanda in SC (@DebMcD007)   September 11, 2023
