The Daily Wire Is Making Its Own Snow White Movie to Counter 'Woke' Disney Film Starring Latina

The conservative media outlet Daily Wire is now in the moviemaking business because someone needed to counter the unacceptable "wokeness" in Hollywood that threatens the very fabric of America by casting people who aren't white and straight in things. And its first full-length offering: Snow White and the Evil Queen .
This is just a teaser, but it is very dramatic. We see a forest. We see woodland creatures. We see a faceless young woman walking through this forest singing a little melody ( but not one like you'd hear in a Disney movie, no, not at all, too woke ). The woman stops, the camera tilts up. She is revealed… and to the relief of so many people angered by past Disney casting choices, she is White .

Because she is Snow White, and according to this particular brand of conservative filmgoer, she is required to be White. Not Woke. It's not called Snow WOKE.
Snow White and the Evil Queen is the brainchild of Ben Shapiro , who was just baffled by how anyone could cast anything but a White actress as the title role of Snow White. So what did he do? He had a whole damn movie made! To prove a point! Because Ben Shapiro is the co-founder of the Daily Wire and the Bentkey app, which promises kid-friendly content with absolutely no gays in it and only the correct races of people. As an added middle finger, he launched it on the 100th anniversary of Disney Entertainment. (Pffft, 100 years. America has lasted like a million more years than that.)
This Snow White is played by Brett Cooper , who used to be an actor before becoming a conservative YouTuber. And now she's acting again. Not to prove a point! But to play a beloved (straight, white) fairytale princess. According to Deadline, Cooper said:
I was raised on the original Grimms' Fairy Tales, so I'm thrilled that we're bringing this iconic story to life for the next generation. Snow White is such a beautiful character, and I'm honored to be playing her. Like all the best fairy tales, this is a story with timeless values, like love, friendship, and kindness, and I can't wait to share them.
Jeremy Boreing , CEO of the Daily Wire and writer of the not-Disney song we hear in the teaser, told the Daily Wire staff "It's a story about a princess and a prince, about beauty and vanity, about love and its power to raise us from death to life. It's our own adaptation of an ancient fairy tale."
But of course, he had to remind everyone why the movie was made in the first place:
Boreing took a swipe today at Disney's upcoming Snow White movie starring Rachel Zegler . Without providing specific evidence, Boreing claimed the House of Mouse's film "will expose children to the popular but destructive lies of the current moment."
"While Disney still uses Walt [ Disney's ] name, they have all but abandoned his legacy," he claimed. "It's taken 100 years to build Disney. We know we aren't what they are today, but we hope in time we might become what they were once upon a time: a little studio with big ideas and the courage to chase them."
While the title mentions an evil queen, there is no indication of casting yet. It could be an evil drag queen, but let's not give Bentkey too much credit. (Besides, the Moms for Liberty-types would never want kids to watch a drag queen, not even one characterized as evil.) Also no mention of any dwarves, because another complaint about the new Disney movie was a different, less offensive way to treat little people. So this movie had better have dwarves and here are their possible names: Ghostly, Fluey, Pallory, Zombie, Chalky, Ivory, and White.

That is the beauty of the free market, if Disney's product is better it will do better, but if it's not, they will fail.

Why does the world need a Latina Snow White? Why is this even an issue?
Well, they could have gone further and made her a Chinese transgender lesbian. The original The Magnificent Seven has always been a movie I enjoy watching whenever it's being played, but I have no use for the remake starring Denzel Washington, even though he's one of my favourite actors, because it's a movie more concerned with inclusiveness than with plot.
Agree on both counts, the original is a much better film.

I don’t personally care about any Snow White movie. But I’m going play Devil’s Advocate here.
When Disney cast a Latina to play Snow White, wasn’t that intentional? Weren’t they trying to cast a non-white actor in the role? If so, why is that ok but this is bad?
Another thing to consider is whether or not the character is really interchangeable with a different ethnicity. Snow White is a German story (from the Brothers Grimm). You can certainly tell a German story without German characters, but Snow White’s look is directly related to her name and is part of the original story.
The original story has a scene where Snow White’s mother pokes herself while sewing and bleeds into the snow resting on a black windowsill. She then wishes for a child with lips red like the blood, black hair like the windowsill, and skin as white as the snow. So arguably, the look and ethnicity of Snow White is sort of foundational to the story and character.
Of course, her exact look is not the whole story. There’s more to it than that. I certainly think you can tell the rest of the story without her needing to be white. But it’s not entirely irrelevant, either.
People protest when Hollywood casts white actors in roles that are historically or traditionally of a specific non-white ethnicity. Often, that complaint is valid. But it can be valid for traditionally white roles, too.
Snow White is a kids story, a fairy tale. The book was originally written in German I presume, so how dare Americans translate the German story into English?
If a movie was remade where Lassie's family was black, would that bother anyone? After all the original story takes place in England.

If you read my whole comment, you’d see that the German origin of the story is not what makes her whiteness most important. Her color is literally part of the story.
I’m not saying it’s the most important part of the story. You can tell this story without reference to her appearance, but you would be telling a different story, and her name would have no meaning.
I think it would be easier if it were Sleeping Beauty or some other story where the appearance and name of the character have no connection. It does seem a little weird to have the character of Snow White - named for her appearance - not be white.

Actually, that outrage has been around for decades. Maybe not from Ben Shapiro, but certainly from others. It’s why we see less and less of it.
On the other hand, people are actors, and the whole point of that job is to play someone that you are not. If it doesn’t change the story, and the actor does a good job, I might not find their appearance objectionable. Depends on the details, though.

The objections to woke snow white were not over her skin color. Though to apply the left's standards, a non German playing Snow White is cultural appropriation in and of itself and should never occur. Disney intends to "remake" Snow White by completely changing the story. Disney intends to remove the Dwarves from the story and change the plot, because its 2023 and a man can't rescue a woman. Basically, Disney wants to keep the IP and cash in on it while making a completely different story, fit for the modern racialist/sexist woke audience who can't handle white people being heroes or men saving/not oppressing women.
So this story, as so much from the left, involves crazy leftwingers politicizing something for kids and then getting mad when it's noticed.

One could ask why was "Santa Claus" white, and why was Jesus depicted for so many centuries as white? Because the AUDIENCE for those characterizations was white. White Europeans wanted to imagine, or rather believe, that Jesus looked like them, so for centuries in paintings Jesus was depicted as white. There is virtually no chance that Jesus was white unless you consider Yassar Arafat white. Yet Kelly matter of factly said "Jesus was white".
As far as young people being taught that white men cannot be heroes, you better tell that to the parents of all the little black boys that want to wear a Batman or Spiderman costume for Halloween.

The history of this is quite interesting and worth researching as to why many from MENA stated to be white when first arriving here.
Racial construct is the base of the US no matter what is said or implied.
On US Census forms, Americans self-identify as to race. There is a gap between the number of individuals who would "self-identify" as white and the perception many whites would have of them.
The fact that we can "debate" this shows how deluded some people are.
