Amid fallout from Donald J. Trump's debunked claim about immigrants from Haiti stealing and eating people's pets in a small Ohio city, the former president's oldest son weighed in with his own aspersions on Haitians.

Donald Trump Jr. suggested on Thursday that Haitian immigrants were less intelligent than people from other countries, and claimed that there was demographic evidence to back this up. He provided none.

"You look at Haiti, you look at the demographic makeup, you look at the average I.Q. — if you import the third world into your country, you're going to become the third world," Mr. Trump said in an interview with Charlie Kirk on Real America's Voice, a conservative broadcasting network. "That's just basic. It's not racist. It's just fact."

Claims inherently linking race, nationality and intelligence have long played a role in scientific racism, which uses pseudoscience to try to justify false claims of racial inferiority or superiority. And intelligence quotient testing, a commonly used measure of intelligence, has long been criticized as unreliable.

Mr. Trump has emerged as a key campaign surrogate for his father. A spokeswoman for the Trump campaign did not respond to a request for comment.

Both Trumps have recently advanced the debunked claim that Haitian migrants were stealing and eating their neighbors' pets in Springfield, Ohio. On their social media accounts, they have each posted memes of cats and dogs, nodding at the false claims and implicitly reminding people of the Trump campaign's hard-line immigration stance.

They think they can win if they be 'bold-face' liars and insulting, because at least it gains them the news cycle. Keep in mind, Donald Jr., has Daddy Donald's permission to speak out during his campaign. . . or "junior" would not open his idiotic mouth on this subject.

In any case, they are in it knee-deep now. Harris/Walz can thank Donald and Junior for a new tranche of (ad) 'materials.'

Doesn’t it make sense to bring in educated immigrants? Ones that can support themselves? And what is the average iq of haiti? I don’t know and i’m positive you don’t. I do know haiti has been a shithole it’s entire existence. Meanwhile, the dominican republic is and has been much better off. Maybe the average iq of the dominican republic is way higher than the average iq of haiti? Maybe we should be importing people from the dominican republic?

We don't?

Ones that can support themselves?

The Haitians have been supporting themselves since they started arriving in 2018. Maybe Trump should have known that before his Administration started importing the Haitian laborers specifically for Springfield OH in 2018, more followed in 2019 and 2020.

All came to Mexico legally, applied online to legally obtain work permits and legally travelled to OH.

Now 6 years later, Trump wants to end TPS and send them and their preschool aged American children back to shithole Haiti.

Biden extended the TPS by 18 months at Springfield OH's request to come to give them time to find a solution that won't start stripping Springfield OH of it's stability having filled 20,000 vacancies.

And what is the average iq of haiti? I don’t know and i’m positive you don’t. I do know haiti has been a shithole it’s entire existence.

Your opinions are immaterial to whether or not people are really eating each other's pets.

Meanwhile, the dominican republic is and has been much better off. Maybe the average iq of the dominican republic is way higher than the average iq of haiti? Maybe we should be importing people from the dominican republic?

That reminds me of the prejudices I heard growing up Irish.  Just prejudiced garbage.

Not true, at one time it was the richest colony in the Americas. Check out their history to see what drove them to the point they are at now, hint the US was a large part of their downfall.

Haitian is not a race.

There are all sorts of geographic specific conditions that can lower IQ.  Malnutrition has been proven to result in lower IQ in children.  Environmental pollutants can lower IQ in children and adults.  While not yet adequately confirmed, there is evidence that suggests prolonged exposure to violence can lower IQ in children.  Note that these reasons are dependent upon location and environment and have nothing whatsoever to do with race.

So, it seems influencers on the political left are just playing the race card to score political points.  That misinformation does a disservice to Haitians.  Haiti is not a good environment for children; don't try to sweep that fact under the rug just to score political points.

Haitian is not a race.

But it is a nationalist identity usually easily equated to a distinct race, like China or Japan, particularly true of island nations.

So, it seems influencers on the political left are just playing the race card to score political points.

Hard as all hell to believe you could come to that conclusion when the people slandering the Haitians are both named Trump.

Haiti is a country that occupies less than half of an island, sharing a border with the Dominican Republic.  And Haiti is not the only island nation in the Caribbean.  The island was originally named Hispaniola by Christopher Columbus; the name later changed to Santo Domingo.  Santo Domingo was never a British colony or territory of the United States.  Santo Domingo was a Spanish colony, then a French colony.

So, some east coast bureaucrat dumped Haitian immigrants on Springfield, OH, to clean up another European shit mess.  Why are Haitians seeking asylum in the United States if Haiti is a land of milk and honey?  Why do big city liberals always dump there trash in fly over country?  And why isn't that NIMBY immigration policy considered racist?  Who the hell decided that a small city like Springfield, OH, can handle such a large influx of migrants?

Hard as all hell to believe you could come to that conclusion when the people slandering the Haitians are both named Trump.

Well the problem seems to be that Trump has lifted the carpet and shown the country the dirt that's been swept under it.  Joe Biden won't be giving up his beach house and moving to Springfield, OH.  So, it's not his problem.  The coastal elites don't even have to think about the problems they've swept under the rug until someone lifts the carpet.  Then there's a scramble to dodge responsibility for what coastal elites have done.

Why is it Trump's fault that high minded humanitarians made sure the problem wasn't it there backyard.  Let Ohio deal with it.  After all, they're just redneck Republicans outnumbered by cows and rocks.

The first paragraph in your comment is, surprisingly, essentially correct, but the rest of your comment (diatribe) is misinformed/uninformed nonsense.

some east coast bureaucrat dumped Haitian immigrants on Springfield

Nonsense.  Haitians began to move there because of the city's need for workers and its relative affordability.  More continued to arrive because new workers were urged by LOCAL employers to encourage other Haitians to move there.

Why are Haitians seeking asylum in the United States if Haiti is a land of milk and honey?

Since you're obviously unaware, Haiti is a poor country and far from "a land of milk and honey".  Like so many others from around the world, Haitians come to the U.S. to improve their circumstances and the circumstances of their families.  Why did you, or perhaps it was your ancestors, come to the U.S.?

Why do big city liberals dump their trash in fly over country?

Your reference to Haitians as "trash" is a blatantly RACIST comment.  Furthermore, your inference that the people in cities send immigrants en masse to other areas is just plain wrong.  We do know that the republican governor of Texas has been shipping as many immigrants as he can to cities controlled by Democrats.

Who the hell decided that a small city like Springfield, OH, can handle such a large influx of migrants?

The people, primarily the business community, of Springfield.

Trump has lifted the carpet

... to chew on it.  He's that deranged.

That East Coast bureaucrat's name was Donald J Trump, POTUS.

The first Haitians arrived in 2018.  Others were made to Wait in Mexico starting in December 2018.  All complied with Trump's rules and entered the country lawfully under TPS.

The local businesses seem to prefer the Haitians.

McGregor told the outlet that about 10% of his workforce, about 30 employees, is Haitian.

“I wish I had 30 more,” he said. “Our Haitian associates come to work every day. They don’t have a drug problem. They’ll stay at their machine. They’ll achieve their numbers. They are here to work. And so in general, that’s a stark difference from what we’re used to in our community.”

Why Haitian immigrants are moving to Springfield, Ohio (msn.com)

So much for your anti liberal screed, eh?

Who the hell decided that a small city like Springfield, OH, can handle such a large influx of migrants?

The Mayor of Springfield OH whose city was dying in 2017 having bled out 20,000 jobs.  The County, City and businesses advertised cheap housing and good jobs, when the first Haitians made a good impression, they put out the word attracting more Haitians from both Haiti and Florida.

So much for your anti liberal screed, eh?

Why can't this guy find 30 more?  Tens of thousands of Haitian refugees settled in Ohio.

The Mayor of Springfield OH whose city was dying in 2017 having bled out 20,000 jobs.  The County, City and businesses advertised cheap housing and good jobs, when the first Haitians made a good impression, they put out the word attracting more Haitians from both Haiti and Florida.

Springfield is still dying.  Those 20,000 lost jobs have not been replaced.  Here's job listings for Springfield, OH.        Where's the intrepid reporters who actually research a story?  It only takes an internet connection to collect background and, now, AI has made that task even easier.

So, why is Mayor Rob Rue saying Springfield, OH, has been overwhelmed by a migrant crisis?    Seems that Trumps jibes have done some real good because taxpayer money is now flowing into Springfield, OH.

Why double down on the hatred and ignorance?

You know, Trump used to be a Democrat so he knows how to squeeze money out of Democrats.  Trump was a native New Yorker, after all.  The 'migrant crisis', as the mayor described it, would have remained swept under the rug without Trump.  Democrats certainly weren't jumping to Rob Rue's assistance before Trump and Vance got involved.  Trump takes it in the ass but gets the job done.

Kamala Harris didn't get Springfield, OH, any assistance.  She was busy trying to belittle the issue and nail down the carpet.  It was Trump and Vance that lifted the carpet.  Trump and Vance knew how to play Democrats to get some help for Springfield.

[] Well, now Springfield, OH, is a 'migrant crisis' and Haitians are victims. [deleted] [] Kamala Harris didn't lift the carpet and shine any light on the problem. It was Trump that got the ball rolling. Trump is responsible for Democrats recognizing that Springfield, OH, is a crisis and Haitians are victims. Only now will Democrats lift a finger to address the problem.

And Trump doubling down ensures Democrats will follow through on their nascent aid to Springfield, OH. [deleted]

[] Liberal activists follow the same playbook to get things done. Liberal activists depend upon victims and crises to motivate their followers to do something. Community organizers don't get things done by holding weenie roasts and singalongs around a campfire. Revolutionaries are not in the business of 'feel good' moments. And Democrats don't use 'truth' to sell big government solutions; they want the Democrat base to be pissed off and ready to fight.

Well since you are obviously in touch with reality, you tell me why these migrants were placed in a small midwestern city.  Is it because midwestern rural areas and cities have an overabundance of schools, healthcare, social services, and jobs?  Is it because midwestern rural areas and cities are so affluent that there's excess revenue available?  Is it because midwestern rural areas and cities are so culturally similar to these migrants country of origin that they'll assimilate more easily?

Or are these migrants dumped in midwestern rural areas and cities because of their demographics?  Are these migrants placed in the midwest just to sweep the problems under the rug?  Out of sight, out of mind?  NIMBY immigration policies?

You are suggesting you know more about it than I do.  Isn't that what qualifies the lecture?  So, you tell me.  Educate me.  Enlighten me.  Show me where I'm wrong.

If immigration was such a huge benefit economically and socially, then why should I believe that big urban areas wouldn't take all that benefit?  I'm only asking questions, not passing judgement.  You tell me.

If immigration was such a huge benefit economically and socially, then why should I believe that big urban areas wouldn't take all that benefit?

Well, it's obvious that "big urban areas" have considerably large populations (and workforce personnel) already.

Now more to the point. Do read this (below):

Springfield's housing problems predate the Haitians' arrival. A pair of studies by the Greater Ohio Policy Center found underinvestment and lack of code enforcement over the years, alongside population decline, left homes vacant and in disrepair.

There are some signs that is reversing.
A Ryan Homes subdivision on the outskirts of town, the first new home construction in years, is nearly built out and largely occupied. Another large development of higher-priced homes is underway, and a block of city-center town homes is sold out.

At a time when commercial real state is on shaky footing after the pandemic, one of several vacant downtown buildings is being converted to condominiums. And a boarded-up black structure towering over City Hall - briefly home to a failed bid to reincarnate the defunct E.F. Hutton investment firm brand - has attracted investor interest with a high-tech research hub as a possible anchor, one of several positive spillovers local development officials say they have seen from the Intel chip plant being built near Columbus.

For their part, city officials, local educators and the business community say that once the short-term disruptions are overcome, a growing population will add to a nascent revival.

"We needed a workforce," to fill jobs in a resurgent local manufacturing sector and staff a growing number of warehouse and distribution centers, said Amy Donahoe, director of workforce development with the Greater Springfield Partnership. "They are coming in and they are working hard and they want to make money."

Furthermore, read the link it has 'tons' of information I am not posting here as to the 'nuance' of what Springfield wishes for its community ( of immigrants. . . and themselves ).

Well since you are obviously in touch with reality, you tell me why these migrants were placed in a small midwestern city.

They weren’t. That’s not how this works.

Springfield’s population - like any number of cities in the Midwest particularly - has been declining for decades, but there are large employers there (Dole Vegetables and Honda, for example) who need workers. So people from Haiti and Central America were recruited and got work visas to come there and do those jobs.

Or are these migrants dumped in midwestern rural areas and cities because of their demographics?

Also, they weren’t ”dumped” there. They have been moving there gradually since 2017. So if you’re looking for a president to blame, point your finger at Trump. Although I doubt any president has any involvement in the recruitment of immigrant workers.

And as I mentioned above, all of this is irrelevant to how we treat people or characterize them publicly. If it helps, one of the groups most responsible for this disgusting, racist rumor-mongering is a neo-Nazi group called Blood Tribe.

Before Trump, neo-Nazis pushed false claims about Haitians as part of hate campaign

Trump’s line at the debate was the culmination of a weekslong rumor mill that appears to have at least been amplified by Blood Tribe, which has sought to demonize the local Haitian community online and in person. The debate drew more than 67 million viewers , according to the media analytics company Nielsen.

As with most rumors, the beginning of the baseless claims about Haitians eating pets in Springfield is hard to pinpoint, but Blood Tribe undoubtedly helped spread it.

Starting in late June, people in local Facebook groups had been posting about Haitian children chasing ducks and geese. Around the same time, conservative media was characterizing Springfield as being “flooded” with Haitian immigrants. Over the next few weeks, the Facebook complaints, still without evidence , got darker, with anonymous posters claiming they were hearing that ducks and geese were going missing, perhaps even being eaten by their immigrant neighbors.

“Chasing ducks and geese” seems like a perfectly ordinary thing for a child to do.

More on Blood Tribe:

Blood Tribe latched on last month when it started posting to Telegram and Gab about Springfield, stoking racist rumors about Haitians and Black people in general eating domestic animals. In a hate-filled Gab post from early September that included multiple racial epithets, the group claimed Haitians “eat the ducks out of the city parks.” The reach of Blood Tribe’s isn’t clear, as its Gab and Telegram accounts have fewer than 1,000 followers.
