Not very presidential

What made you think it was directed at the American people and not say at our adversaries?

Just wondering?

Yeah, we have seen a lot of political retribution attempted and carried out in this country in recent years

Or maybe he just likes the free occupancy of the minds of so many people who think the same way you do and all the free media exposure it gets him.

Or maybe you are right

Time will tell

Why are all his nominees lying to Congress?

Watching the pathetic, groveling Republicans in the confirmation hearings for unqualified and morally vacant party-boy Pete Hegseth, that was the most potent takeaway: these people are terrified. Joni Ernst, who knows better, practically invited Hegseth over for a kegger and some time in the hot tub. The yahoos—Tuberville, Mullin, and a few more—reveled in their lowbrow bro-fest, but the normie Republicans reek of raw terror.

They’re so afraid to cross Donald Trump that they’ll abandon their duty to the country and vote in favor of a man with a low moral character, no relevant experience, and an admitted drinking problem. They’re not “biding their time.” They’re not “sending Trump a message.” They’re not “steering the ship.” They’re cowards, low and quavering. They’ve rebranded their fear into political acumen, but it’s a lie they’re only selling to themselves.

Shift the subject rather than answer the question posed or the point made in opposition to your point or position.

Nicely done

I agree that Hegseth is not qualified to be Sec Def

Bondi is well qualified to AG whether one agrees with her positions on issues or not

Rubio is qualified to be SecState

There are indeed some nominees that make you scratch your head and say "What the hell was even Trump thinking with this one?"

I still think Hegseth and maybe a couple of the others will not be confirmed but most of them will and some of them will receive votes from Democrats ("Oh the Horror!")

The President (any president) is entitled to the cabinet of his choice (with the advice and consent of the Senate).  That's the rules we play by - you like to play be the rules, correct?

No, the point is that the POTUS can choose his cabinet and once confirmed by the Senate vote they are seated regardless of the opinions of the majority or minority political factions of the country.

That is how the forefathers wanted the process to work, that is how it has worked in the past and that is how it is working in 2025

What lies did she tell in her testimony?

This is a dodge.   She would not say that Trump lost and that Biden legitimately won.   She dodged and said that he was sworn in as PotUS.

In addition, she said that she never listened to Trump's call to Raffensperger.    No way on the planet is that true.

She stated that she never heard Trump speak of prosecuting Cheney or Jack Smith or go after Garland.

And then we have this ridiculous exchange (almost like the nonsense we see in social forums).

Robert, communication 101 is to be clear. A picture posted by a president-elect that makes a curt statement without CONTEXT can be interpreted-is left open to interpretation in a "million" of ways. It is not professional for a president-elect to be publicly vulgar either. Just saying. Because I am sure since it is Trump that his surrogates will interpret it. . . well, one of the million ways on his behalf. Always Trump gets their benefit of the doubt. He should never have been president (2016 or now) but  trying to promote him as the "antiChrist" is merely political theatrics from the left.  It makes a good story but bad politics as the 2024 election campaign demonstrates

Washington DC -  Donald Trump  on Thursday unveiled his official photo as the 47th president – an image that bears a striking resemblance to his viral 2023 mug shot.

AA1xkMtO.img?w=534&h=356&m=6&x=228&y=255&s=832&d=393

In the new photo, the soon-to-be commander-in-chief is leaning slightly forward and looking defiantly at the camera, an eyebrow furrowed and lips sealed – a pose which drew comparisons with the picture taken of him   in an Atlanta prison   as he was facing charges of trying to overturn the 2020 election.

Unlike the mug shot, where Trump is wearing his trademark red tie, this time around the tie is blue, and there is an American flag pin on the lapel of his navy blue jacket.

A year and a half ago, after being released from jail on a $200,000 bond, Trump   posted his mug shot   on X with the caption "NEVER SURRENDER!"

The post marked the Republican billionaire's return to the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, where his membership was suspended following the violent assault on the Capitol on January 6, 2021, by his supporters.

He was   reinstated on the platform   shortly after Elon Musk, the world's richest man and now Trump's political ally, acquired the company.

Trump, who called the election interference case a "witch hunt," used the mug shot to raise funds for his election campaign.

T-shirts, mugs, stickers, and beverage coolers bearing the image – arguably now the most famous photo of a president in US history –   brought in millions of dollars .

Trump returns to the White House on Monday stronger than ever, despite his status as   the first felon   to be elected US president after being convicted in a separate case of covering up hush money payments to a porn star.

Trump seemingly recreates mug shot in official presidential photo

I think he says alot of that shit to stir up his base to get elected which is almost worse than actually following through with it in some cases.  It brings the extremists out of the woodwork and you end up with crap like Jan 6 when things don’t go his way.

It will be very interesting to see how the inauguration goes.  These concerns could be reduced or they could get even worse.  We’ll see.

So even if he does not follow through precisely on his rhetoric, he is damaging our nation.

You have no argument.   Just bullshit.

Biden stated that he picked Harris ONLY because of her race and gender, when no one said that.

I did not demand specific words.   I was challenging you to show where Biden claimed that the ONLY criteria he used was race and gender.   You could have provided your evidence using all sorts of different syntactic expressions.

More bullshit games from you in lieu of an actual argument.

It’s refreshing to see someone admit they are posting an opinion, rather than posting an opinion as if it’s fact.

Did you just post an opinion or a fact?

What are the specific rules that we are supposed to follow to note that our posts are opinions rather than facts?   Are we supposed to prefix every claim with "IMO"?

What, exactly, are the rules?

Here is a thought.   Most everything we post are opinions.   Assume the post is opinion unless the author states that the post is a fact.

Try that.

You demand a specific syntax and reject all statements that express the claimed meaning but do not meet your syntactic demands.

Aren't you the one that claimed others here stated that Biden picked Harris ONLY because of her race and gender?

"You have no argument.   Just bullshit."

Ironic

"I did not demand specific words."

You demanded someone prove something based on a specific word dreamed of by you. If you could have proven that they said Biden ONLY picked the DEI hire because of race and gender, you certainly would have. You didn't so you were wrong.

"More bullshit games from you in lieu of an actual argument."

Lots of ironic parts of your post.

It's refreshing to see someone that leans left say that they are going to give it a wait and see attitude.

Well I appreciate that, but is it really necessary for me to “lean left” to dislike Trump and be concerned about some of the things he says or does?  I seriously doubt that most who know me would say I “lean left”.

Maybe we shouldn’t be so quick to put people in partisan boxes and jump to conclusions based on such perceptions.  It is possible for people to disagree on some issues and agree on others.  In this case, I know a great many Republicans and Independents, like me, who dislike Trump specifically based on things he has said and done. I think it best to look at specific issues and collect all the information I need before offering a rational and logical opinion based on the facts.  And I try not to engage in exaggeration or partisan hyperbole.

Sometimes I will call out such hyperbole when I see it, and the reactions to that are mixed.  That may be why some here think I lean left, but even more think I’m MAGA.  It is what it is I guess, I would just like to see productive discussion here without the partisan rancor and distrust.  We are all fully capable of finding common ground and not always seeing each other as an enemy.

I do keep the part of my post where I said it is nice to see someone not always positive to Trump say they are willing to sit and wait to see what happens.

Well, I read the opinion piece, and I am afraid I might have a virus now from the site probably no one has ever heard of. .

Be that it may, nowhere in the article does it say HE will put the DOJ on those he disagrees with. Many of the instances cited by the opinion piece asked the current DOJ to file charges against Biden and a few others. He never said HE would sic the DOJ on anyone.

Your failed argument is similar to stating Biden said he would put the military on his political enemies, but, SURPRISE, so one can quote him for saying so.

I feel as if you did not even read the article, just used the headline for your argument. Your argument was a fail.

An opinion that has no basis is meaningless.

That is your opinion and you are welcome to it. Just as it is my opinion that a comment that calls someone's opinion meaningless is a condescending and rude comment. Note I am calling out the comments,  not the people that make them.

Your opinion flies in the face of what Trump has already done as president-elect.   For example, gratuitously threatening Canada, Mexico, and China with outrageous tariffs prior to any diplomatic negotiations is Trump being "more controlled this time around than last time"??

Another just as possible opinion is that his comments are negotiating tools. Not the way I would go about it but he doesn't need my ok to do it.

It is likely that Trump views his rhetoric as pre-negotiation since that has been his style for decades.

It does not matter what is going on in Trump's head;  my criticism was and is about the rhetoric that is now world-wide, not what he is thinking.   My point is that such a tactic is irresponsible, counter-productive, and damages our nation.    It is a stupid move for a president-elect or PotUS.

I think he lied about the election being stolen from him, tried to apply pressure to various state officials and his VP to alter the outcome, incited his followers to storm the capital, and then did very little to try and stop it when they forced their way into the building.  Those are the facts.  So it was an incredibly irresponsible and piss poor effort to interrupt and alter the results of the election, yes.

I do keep the part of my post where I said it is nice to see someone not always positive to Trump say they are willing to sit and wait to see what happens.

I am a PRAGMATIST. What I will not do for 'anybody' in politics or in here is be a partisan for partisan sake. My loyalty, my search, is for truth and a set of morals that is consistent. So, I am compelled to not care whatsoever people call me. (They called 'Jesus' potentially worse.)

And here is what 90 percent POSITIVITY to a 'Man' got Congressman Adam Kinzinger:

Kinzinger was a six-term Republican congressman from Illinois and, by any reasonable measure, a staunch conservative who supported Donald Trump's agenda during his first term more than 90 percent of the time. But after Jan. 6, 2021, Kinzinger belonged to a small and dwindling number of GOP members of Congress who turned on Trump and never recanted. He voted to impeach Trump (who had already left office, however reluctantly) and then voted to create the select committee that held a series of dramatic hearings throughout 2022.

Kinzinger tells director Steve Pink in the new documentary " The Last Republican " that he hoped then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi wouldn't ask him to serve on the committee. In fact, that question was never asked: Pelosi called to tell Kinzinger he'd been appointed, probably understanding that as the ultimate all-American straight arrow — a former Air Force lieutenant colonel who earned six medals for combat service in Iraq and Afghanistan — he wouldn't say no. Unlike the only other Republican member of that panel, Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming, Kinzinger grasped the consequences right away: His political career was over.

Kinzinger didn't run for re-election in 2022, and wouldn't have been eligible for the Republican Party's endorsement if he had. As "The Last Republican" details, he and Cheney were both censured by the party and effectively expelled; on a personal level, many of Kinzinger's former colleagues, friends and extended family members no longer speak to him.
As Pink's overly ironic title suggests, Kinzinger finds himself in a lonely place that, depending on your perspective, is either, noble, pathetic or ridiculous. While the irony of Pink's title is arguably heavy-handed,
Kinzinger really does see himself as one of the few genuine standard-bearers for Reagan-era conservatism, forced to ally himself — very likely for the rest of his life — with a fractured, disunited and defeated opposition, most of whose policies he does not support.

That last line in italics refers to Kinzinger being compelled against his will to find a 'home' with Democrats.

Many are his over-worded, run-on, digressive statements that his surrogates and 'the faithful' have to clean up (for themselves) because Trump does not care to use a straight, whole, or completely factual mode of communication—despite being seen and listened to by the world 'body' (including historians whom will have to process his rhetorical stylizations).

A mischaracterization of what I wrote;  of course.   I wrote that an idea can be expressed in many ways.   What matters is the meaning, not the specific choice of words and grammar used to express that meaning.   One can express the exact same meaning in various syntactic ways.

I gave a video of Trump expressing his ideas, his own words, right there for you to review:

You offer a video of Trump bullshitting and then delivering a single promise of "my revenge will be success".   He is a slimy con-artist and we already know that he will contradict himself routinely.   So this does not erase what he has already said.

So, Vic, how are people supposed to interpret Trump?   Do we only recognize his good rhetoric and ignore all his bad rhetoric?   Do we take his most recent rhetoric as correct and ignore all earlier rhetoric?

For me, the fact that Trump repeatedly talked about the enemies within and the potential use of military is not something that just gets erased by "my revenge will be success".   Anymore than his months of incendiary rhetoric gets erased by him merely saying the word "peacefully".   Anyone who would even conceive of "enemies within", etc. is not fit to be PotUS.

The   $TRUMP memecoin   — a financial asset that didn't exist on Friday afternoon — now accounts for about 89% of   Donald Trump's   net worth.

Why it matters:   The coin (technically a token that's issued on the Solana blockchain) has massively enriched Trump personally, enabled a mechanism for the crypto industry to funnel cash to him, and created a volatile financial asset that allows anyone in the world to financially speculate on Trump's political fortunes.

  • After another massive overnight rally, as of Sunday morning Trump's crypto holdings were worth as much as $58 billion on paper, enough -- with his other assets -- to make him one of the   world's 25 richest people .
Where it stands:   While the Biden administration broadly took the view that memecoins like $TRUMP are securities subject to SEC regulation, the incoming Trump administration has pledged to be much more crypto-friendly and to regulate such coins with a light or nonexistent touch.

We are a Community. Join it. MAGA should stop trying to make diversity, inclusion, and equity weird, because it says much more about the mindset of MAGA than it does about citizens in this country.

Joe Biden did it twice and the left didn't say shit about it.

Let us know when it happens under Trump.

Until then pretend Biden is still in charge (for at least 1 more day) and hold him accountable for what he and Democrats have put this country through.

I think you were right on point. None of them can show where Trump said he would put the military on his political enemies, as a few have sworn that is what he said.

Kinda like saying some conservatives said the ONLY reason Biden picked Harris as his running mate is her race and gender, but, doggone it, for some reason can’t show where anyone said that.

I gave you the video.   What do you think he meant when he talked about potentially using the military on enemies within and naming Pelosi and Schiff as examples of 'enemies within'?

"We have some sick people —radical left lunatics— and I think they should be very easily handled by —if necessary— by national guard and if really necessary by the military".

What is the point of you denying facts right in front of your nose?

Well to be fair, some Republican congressmen did call her a ” DEI hire ” and I’m pretty sure we have heard that said in this forum from time to time as well.

Although, as the linked article points out, several other Republican politicians did reject that characterization of her and admonished their colleagues for saying it, which I believe was the right thing to do.

Just more denial.

"She was chosen because she was a woman and who, as an extra bonus, was  black. Expecting her to succeed at anything else was asking too much."

-or-

In response to this question "Harris had no qualifications other than being a racial minority and female? " we see:

"Those were the only qualifications Biden was looking for."

-or-

This one from you in response to the above question:

"According to Biden, she didn’t need any other qualification."

Plenty of examples.

Pathetic goal moving tactic

I pointed out to you correctly yesterday there is nothing in the first video that Trump said he was going to put the military on his political enemies, and posting the video over and over again does not change that. He specifically said he would use the military on "very bad people" and there are many of those in this country. Who he is talking about is undetermined for everyone but those who dream up stories to tell,

Second video he is correct. Schiff and Pelosi should be charged with crimes of lying from the floor of Congress and destroying official government archives because they did everything they could to trash the Trump admin, but because they both have Ds after their names, you, et al, give them a pass.. Both lied continuously, Pelosi ripped up a SOTU speech after Trump gave it and we still haven't seen that "indisputable evidence" Schiff continuously lied about having seen and having possession of evidence of "Russian collusion". What did he do with that "evidence"?

What I do hope is that he holds those that came after him with false pretenses to account.

Maybe he will use the example of Biden using the DOJ to go after his "political enemies" I wonder why you never criticized something that actually happened, but continuously whine about something seen in the "I have no fucking idea" crystal ball. S/

Another fail

Biden never came out and stated why he picked Harris as his VP. The only thing he said publicly, that I know of, is he wanted two things....a black woman. Never did he mention anything about her past political positions, nothing that stood out that made her more than mediocre in any of those positions.

Hell, he probably didn't even know he picked her until someone told him. For four years, we say how "happy" the good wife Jill was about the decision s/

So our positions hold true. By his own words, black and a woman are the ONLY two things he wanted in a VP pick

Do better.

Simple question....

When you say Trump will go after his political enemies, you say he is telling the truth, but when he says his revenge is success, he is lying.

Why do you say he constantly lies in one instance, then turn around and say he is telling the truth in another?

Can't have it both ways.

Nothing about her being a professional prosecutor in California (even though it was on her resumé and) and she used that skill to deliver a stunning 'blow' to candidate Biden in a presidential debate? How about her being a professional senator (where he pulled her)? None of that registers as suitable.

Perhaps we should consider what jobs (judges/congress-person/business leaders) qualifies as suitable for heading this country. /s  Food for thought, eh?

Finally, we can choose to validate her professional-grade qualifications (the way others do) or we can just hold up matters out of focus and pretend she is what we want her to be for self-interest.

Lastly, Trump is a convicted felon and he is going to lower the bar for being a sitting president by a lot; nary a complain from the sloganeering creators of "Be Best."

That is now projection on top of denial.

It takes no effort whatsoever to find myriad reports on what Trump said that corroborate what I have posted (as if there is a need to corroborate video of Trump incriminating himself).   There are many videos of Trump talking about enemies within and giving examples of Pelosi and Schiff as enemies within.   Even Fox News has a video (I showed you) where Trump talks about potentially using the National Guard and possibly the military to deal with enemies within.

Of course you deny all of this because you know damn well that this goes against the very fiber of our Constitution and the way we operate in the USA yet you voted for this traitorous scoundrel and in spite of what he does you are still defending the asshole.    (For now.)

It is irrational to expect Trump to change over the next four years.   Anyone who is willing to violate his oath of office because his ego cannot stand to lose an election and then engage in fraud, coercion, lying, and incitement in a desperate attempt to steal the election is unfit for office.   He has demonstrated that he acts to benefit himself and does not take the role of the PotUS as a solemn duty and responsibility to the American people.

Given Trump is not going to change, you hoping for good from an irresponsible, vindictive, narcissistic scoundrel is a poor bet.

Better than the two tier justice system Democrats have installed; and their weaponization of the IRS, FBI, CIA, and DOJ against their political opponents.

Democrats and leftists are scared shitless the pendulum is swinging the other direction. Trump used to be a Democrat- he knows all of their tactics. Looks like he won't be afraid to use a few of them.

Unlike with Brandon in charge- the Establishment and federal government will fight tooth and nail against him if he goes too far.

If he can bring the government back to where the law applies equally to everyone (including Democrats and leftists) his time in office will be worth it. Even if he falls victim to those laws being applied fairly to himself.

Either the law applies to everyone or no one. Democrats are bringing about the day when it will be no one.

Trump is not for equal protection under the law. The American people tried to hold him responsible for his crimes and he successfully held them at bay until he narrowly (1.48%) squeaked out a victory. Poof, it all goes away, not because he isn't a despicable, criminal lout, but some people in the government actually respect and honor precedent and decency. He was the beneficiary of the so-called two-tiered justice system, not the victim. If he were an normal person, he would be wearing prison garb right now.

As trump has shown, you can't fool everyone, but if you try sometimes, you just might find you can fool enough people to win an an election by 2.285 million votes out of almost 155 million cast.
